Tourists stand at the first white line, and then armed police officers direct them to the second white line. It's a challenging shot from this point, as tourists are pushing everyone. Date filmed: Today, 27 September 2024. The King’s Life Guard The King’s Life Guard is conducted by soldiers of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment at Horse Guards. Horse Guards is named after the troops who have mounted The King’s Life Guard here since the Restoration of King Charles II in 1660. The ceremony has remained mostly unchanged for over 350 years. Changing of The King's Life Guard The ceremony of changing of the King’s Life Guard starts at 11am with the Old Guard formed up on Horse Guards Parade. As the New Guard arrives, a trumpeter sounds a royal salute and the officer salutes. The New Guard forms up facing the old one. Once both lines are still, the corporal major, senior non-commissioned officer and sentries of the New Guard (the first relief) rein back their horses and leave for the guard room to take over their duties, which lasts for 48 hours. The sentries from the Old Guard return to the parade ground and the entire Old Guard returns back to barracks. When the monarch is in London, there is a ‘long guard’ consisting of an officer, corporal major (who carries the regimental standard), two non commissioned officers, a trumpeter and 10 troopers. When the monarch is away, the guard is reduced to two non-commissioned officers and 10 troopers known as a ‘short guard’. Whatever the season or weather, members of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment ride down from Hyde Park Barracks in Knightsbridge to take over guard duties. TIMINGS OF DUTIES The Guard Change currently takes place on: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11am. The two iconic soldiers on horses that mount duty on Whitehall at the entrance of Horse Guards change on the hour every hour from 10am until 4pm. This ensures that, regardless of the time you choose to visit the museum, you are guaranteed a captivating spectacle of ceremonial duties in progress. The King’s Life Guard is the name given to the guard duty performed by The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment at Horse Guards. It dates from 1660 when The Life Guards mounted a permanent guard at the entrance to Whitehall Palace. Responsibility for mounting the guard alternates between The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals. - Information above is according to householdcavalry.co.uk/museum/blog/the-kings-life-guard/ Click the link if you would like to know more about WHO THEY ARE.
It’s just pointless with all the rules, suggestions, recommendations from people who view these videos only for the guards themselves to not uphold them. All those rules will appear nonsensical if the guards themselves don’t take them seriously! Yeah, I’m not going to keep, watching either. Very infuriating when we try to assist the guards and their horses to make life a little easier for them when some of these guards are not caring at all. What I really don’t get is people can walk around the lines and not cross them to get somewhere but those that takes the photos do step into the lines. It’s mind boggling!
@@TheZbetten I'm an American n this is so disappointing. It's all been about protecting the guards n horses, but it's some of the guards that are letting people around them 😔. So what do we do?? 🤔
@@AprileAnderson So am I April. There's nothing to do. These are professional trained guards that of all people should know how to follow instructions and orders so something else is going on behind close doors that some are not doing what they're supposed to do. Takes two hands to make a clap!
I see yet another guard not upholding the new rules, people worked long and hard to get these new rules and the guards are ignoring them. Shame on all guards, who dont uphold the new rules. Until they do the horses will be continually abused.
That woman in the white coat at 40.37 went to the bother of walking around the lined box to get from one side to the other and then just promptly planked herself inside the box. Can't figure that one out.
When enforcing the white line rules, it's very important guards and the officers need to be strictly staying on the same page to avoid confusion felt by the public. Anyone agree or not???
Those Asian girls were so very disrespectful. They can see the sign, but chose to break the rule. Complete disrespect. And looked foolish trying to get the horseman’s attention; he was the least bit interested.
Here go again...these guards need a good lectiure...this is why they made the new box...to keep stupid people away from the horse....the horse were getting up set alot..keep with the rules... put a officer in from watching the people instead of standing in a corner in a cluster.
Notice how calm the horses appear to be in this video. Maybe it's a coincidence that these horses happen to be two of the calmer ones, but even in the videos of the signs, "don't touch the horse" the horses were much calmer. It is so much better for their welfare not to be crowded and touched all the time. Methinks that Ormonde might miss the buzz of biting people! There's always going to be idiots who don't have any common sense and won't even think about what the white lines are about. I do believe that there should be a sign "stay outside the while lines" either on the wall, or painted on the pavement. Yes, I agree with other people. The guards should be enforcing this. If they keep doing so, the word will get around.
This will only work with REAL guards on duty who respect the new rules. Other than them its whimpy kid on a horse with the public laughing at him /her & his regiment.
Yes this guard never makes people move let the people stand where every been doing that for along time...think you filmer would go report to police man.
It's a lot better now. Not perfect, but at least what I've seen, the tourists aren't getting close enough to touch the horse, the rider or any of the gear. It was so horrible before with all the molesting and disrespect that I had to stop watching.
Just what i was going to write .. but RU-vid took my comment out & banned me to comment any further until 8 weeks after i could comment.. only if i praise bad & nasty people & only if i lie through my teeth & paint a glorious colourful picture about the whole world’s people being the nicest people i’ve ever come across
@@0010-n8q 😮 OMG 8 wks??!! I got a week coz I said a few unkind things, a comment deleted coz I called a guy a f jerk. But yet I've seen others use full words n be disrespectful. I guess we're special 😜😁
Ideally the painted lane was suppose to be a no entry point to discipline rowdy tourists but no serious restrictions are being strictly implemented so the abusive tourists will still continue and get their way of doing things.
My heart goes out to the royal horses guards as they have to take a lot of trash from the tourist as it is is disgusting towards our beautiful horses guards and they should not have to take it
Ignoring the white lines and pushing the boundaries. Disrespectful to the Guards, Horses and even each other. Narcisisim is rampant !! This is the perfect definition of the 'Great Unwashed Masses'
