As we get deeper into Autumn/Fall, the rainy days are becoming more frequent so we're trying to work on our little home renovation around the downpours & storms. We finished up the guttering just in time (although not technically finished as we're still not sure where to route all the rainwater to) & continue with the lime pointing on the exterior of the stone house, a job that we're realising is going to be a real labour of love!

Good job on the guttering ....But the elbows are upside down they will leak ....turn them the other way and there is no need for silicone ..plus easy to maintain if you need to take apart 👍😎

We are working on a place in Italy and we also have (had) problems with flying bugs. We mix 20 drops of tea tree oil in about 1/2 a litre of water and spray in on ourselves. Close your eyes and spray your face, arms etc. Works a charm. The only thing is it needs to be administered again in about 45 minutes or so - but totally worth it!

Suggestion: I used same guttering on my shed - and found a single stainless wood screw through PVC on each joint kept them secure through hot and cold of the seasons. Also, the pointing is looking great!

To seal the down pipe joints it's better to use Solvent for uPVC and not silicone... Hope this helps. Luv watching you Vid...

Gutters look great. Dry fit the gutters so you can clean them out and the sleeved connections will stay together when you want them to.

Where is the big Water tank to collect the rain water. Portugal I think has dry summers so collecting water would be very useful

We have a 30,000L tank that collects rain water from the main house roof. We’re still undecided about how to store the water from the tiny house

For the downpipes you do not need any sealants. If you want to keep in place you can use a 2mm drill and put a selftapper in at the joints. Just make sure you have yhe pipes the right way round so the don't leak👍

We were really unsure about the gutter colour when buying them but the choices were grey or white so had to choose grey. Happy with them once fitted though!

Just a suggestion. Rather than gluing the down pipe joints, and especially as they will have to come down at times, you could drill small holes for self tapping screws through the joints, to keep them in place. There after you'll always know how they go back together again. Love your videos and the quality of work you achieve. The tiny house is looking pretty good.

Downpipes can be more easily cleaned if a blockage happens if they are dry fitted, or, as we did, a couple of self tapping screws in critical joints. Great work, lovely house , thank you for sharing.

Just love to see you both working together. Bet you have the' odd' spat tho'! I didn't start my Barn conversion in W.Sussex, till I was 56 and still working. So it took 2years in a caravan before we could move in. We did have a few 'heated' (VERY) discussions during that time. But loved doing it and lived happily for 18 years. We kept pigs and sheep and grew our own veg. Sold up in 2019 and built an Eco house in part of the grounds, moving in 2021. I wasn't allowed (at 75) to do the build but on site every day doing bits. I envy and admire you both and look forward to each vid.

Oh yes I remember that storm, we even had a power outage in the middle of the night ,we had half of the Atlantic damped on us , but now I am home, back in Canada and now I am having half of the Pacific damped on us, the exception is that in Portugal it was a warm storm but here it is cold.

For the grout to point between the stones, use a plastic bag, cut off a corner and fold the bag into a squeeze bag, and voila! You can now squeeze your mortar into the gaps in the wall! At last, you just need to even them out with a spatula! It's just an idea...

Men might roll their eyes, BUT . . . I have never owned a generator. I am looking at RVing for at least a year or two. Now, after watching both of you use your generator, I know that I can buy on and use it!! You may not think it, but you are both very brave!!

Re-ankle. I went over on mine and heard a crack and was sure I had broke it. Turned out it was a bad sprain and it took 10-12 weeks to get right. Mine went black and blue too. Take it steady with slow stretches. You will be right in no time.

yes. Allow nature the time to heal those tissues, Victoria. Don't damage it any more from walking on the ankle because gangerne will force the amputation of the foot.

I use stainless steel self drilling screws to hold gutter joints together. It works great and doesn't leak as long as you place them in a location the main water flow will be. Sides and top is where I put them.
