Found it funny that we had watched most of your videos prior to visiting BCS, which helped us decide to visit La Paz. We met our realtor who took us to El Centenario to look at properties. We may be buying above your place up on the hill. We stayed at Casa Kootenay while visiting La Paz and are just now seeing this video. Leeann is a wonderful host and we are happy that you created this video for others to see.

It's a small world down here in La Paz! Everyone's circles cross. Leeann is wonderful and I'm so glad she agreed to a video. I hope your purchase works out.

I recently received my permanent residency visa for Mexico and am moving there in 2022 to slow travel around the country. When I hit La Paz I will be sure to check out this B&B. Thanks for featuring it in the video. 👍

Congrats on the permanent residency! Casa Kootenay would be a great spot to stay in La Paz.

Paul sometimes lived in the casita(sp?) and rented the big house to short timers

Interesting - that's a great idea! Except we have way too many pets to live in the casita.

Haha. I thought you were going to say "in la Paz there are almost no turtles."

I'm waiting for the first turtle to lay eggs in front of our house! They have done it about 5 minutes walk down the beach.

At 5:31 you mention a video thqt you’re going to put in the right hand corner but the video is not there. You can still add an information card at that point. Watched the whole video and enjoyed it. -Marc

Great video with lots of information. I'm from Calgary, Alberta and used to own and run a licensed cafe here - I would love to open a B and B in La Paz if I choose that location in Mexico for early retirement. Was planning on coming down this winter, but Covid craze has me hesitating in our -25 weather, lol. I imagine it takes a great deal of cash to set up such a spectacular B and B like Casa Kootenay - but congratulations on your success! It looks like the perfect location for enjoying the Baja. I hope to visit one day soon!

COVID is strangely not a problem in Mexico right now. Maybe because people were vaccinated later than other countries and also pretty good about wearing masks in public... but you may have trouble finding a healthy flight crew to fly you down here ;-) Many places in Mexico come furnished. I'm not sure if Casa Kookenay was, but it really helps with startup costs to have the furniture rolled into the purchase price. I hope to meet you soon down here in Mexico!

You know you’re acclimated to the weather when you start dressing like this in La Paz. 🤣

Hey thank you for these videos!! We stumbled on yours first as we explored ‘Pretiring’ in BC. Love them all so far and extremely helpful. Do you assist newcomers? Would love to connect when we get there. PS, would love to get your wife’s take on life here too on some videos.”
@AlmostRetiredinMexico

Glad you like them! Lots of folks from BC down here. I don't assist newcomers directly, but soon I'll post a video with Blanca. She has a business helping newcomers settle in (getting electricity in your name, immigration, banking, etc.) And I host Sunday happy hours in the winter months. I'm working on getting my wife on camera more ;-)

Have you experienced or are you aware of the “piso” tax paid to the cartels that businesses in Mx pay? Or is that not an issue out there?
@AlmostRetiredinMexico
@AlmostRetiredinMexico 2 года назад
I may be blind to it, but don't think it's a problem in La Paz. I've not heard of it or read about it in the local news.
