Lonnie thanks so much! I stumbled across a video of you going to garage sales back around 2018 2019. My life has been changed so much by RU-vid randomly putting your video up next. I have completely changed career paths and have been selling on eBay full time for the past 2 years. Thanks so much for everything you have done and for the shout out today .
In the first hour since this video aired, youve gained almost 100 subscribers. I'm one of them. Your content looks great, and I've got a lot of catching up to do!
Just want to remind everyone that Lonnie and Candace brought awareness to breast cancer 💕💗by sharing the lovely Candace's own journey. 💐💐💚💚 The coffee cup fundraisers earned money for the American Cancer 💖Society. Wonderful work! 🙏🥇 p.s. Candace celebrated 5 years being cancer free recently. 🙏
I think you two are likeable, have a nice accent, and theres a good variety in what you show and do that falls under the reselling brand. That's what you have going for your channel. That's why I look forward to your videos. You guys dont do anything that feels fake, or planned like some kind of reality tv show. You keep it real.
Easy going, down to earth, informative and the way you two get along and your sense of humor ALL make your channel so enjoyable!! Always look forward to your videos!! Truly appreciated!! Keep being AWESOME!!
I think the term you were looking for is opportunity cost. It is the way I make almost all decisions in life--both big and small. Thanks for the content guys!
So so true! It is really hard to build a RU-vid channel. Getting to 1000 subs took a lot of time and energy. But I do love creating content - that’s what keeps me going and the amazing viewers that have become friends.
I've been watching since late 2017 or early 2018. I was struggling trying to sell clothes until I found Garage Flips and saw Lonnie selling random items from yard sales. I credit the Garage Flips channel for really getting me going on my reselling journey. I don't comment a lot, but I never miss a video. Health insurance is the only thing still keeping me at my job.
Knowledge is out there but wisdom is rare. "sometimes you should give up" - Lonnie 2023. Another pearl of wisdom for the modern world. Also "tape sticks to tape" is one of my favorites.
Reselling is like every start up business. As business school taught me - Forming, Storming, Performing - forming is exciting planning; Storming is doing all the work ramping up and figuring out what works; performing is keeping it going by putting in the routine work and making it grow. You are doing great. Most leave at the performing part.
I tried RU-vid for about a year in 2010. I started about the time Will started his channel, Terminal 99, and Wheeler and Dealer was starting their channel- My Crazy Picker Life. Never got any traction, so I decided to put my time into listing instead of trying to build a channel that wasn't going anywhere.
I definitely think having you both on the videos makes them more fun. I like the banter between you. Glad to hear you're both still happy with your choices in regards to your work. That's all that matters in the end. 🙂
Don’t forget you are providing wholesome entertainment as well. You are my friends. Lol. I stumbled across you going to garage sales in approximately 2018. I was hooked and decided to open my store back up. I opened in Jan 2020 just prior to shut downs. At that time, online shopping was a huge success. The last year has been up and down, but more down than up. I would be either really good at videos or really bad. Lol. I think I will stay like I am right now. Full time job, part time job, and part time eBay. And manage a household.
Love your channel guys and we learn so much! My husband started selling on eBay since 2007 or so. We've been renting a warehouse for years due to a lot of inventory from vintage to new stuff, we do quite well. I also left my job willingly and was not getting the recognition nor the pay I should have been getting. My husband needed my help long before this, but I was scared to leave for so many reasons, mostly insurance. We pay about 1300 for insurance each month now. That is one con that I truly hate and I don't think the insurance is that great either, but it is what it is. The pros do outweigh the cons though. We now live closer to our grandkids on bigger property so we're building a pole building right on our new property/backyard, so exciting! Should be all done by next spring/beginning of summer so this means no more renting a warehouse. Moving all that inventory will be crazy, but we have it all in labeled in boxes so hopefully should go smoothly. Thank you for all you do :)
“Crazy Wayne “ 😂😂😂 Thanks for answering the question Candice you certainly moved into the reselling/youtube world very smoothly 👏👏👏. And 1000 dollars a month for health insurance wow!!! 😮. And I have very small gaming channel it’s just a hobby for me I play with some mates all about having a laugh 😅
Hey Lonnie and Candace, love your videos, have been watching for over 18 months. I am a part time flipper who is just getting a channel going. Just moved into a 12x24 shed in my backyard and am trying to show my progress. Thanks for all the great content, you have helped me become a better reseller. Take care!
I watched an episode of American Pickers where they discussed the affect of the internet of things. One of things they mentioned were that items that were thought to be rare aren’t so there things they might have bought and paid too much. On the upside helps find things you want/need.
Y'all are great some shooting the bull some what sold and some interesting takes, love it. Grams and pops vintage gave y'all a big shout out on the info on Grainger, they like them too. Keep up the great content.
One of my favorite saying is fail fast. It flies in the face of modern advice that I hear all the time of never give up. If you fail fast you try more things and are more likely to succeed in something you enjoy or are good at. Opportunity cost- I think that a what you were thinking of. Last but not least I have taken 3 classes that my son has taken (at the same time) at Stanford for free (feee for me - I pay for him). It is interesting and gives me something to chat about with him. Knowledge is power and I’m so thankful we have RU-vid to help us succeed in things we cl want to work on.
Congrats Candace... hey Lonnie, what about getting another shed? Have you got room on your property? How would the cost compare with what you pay for storage rental - trips back and forth? etc? We love your channel and we love watchin you guys.
The reselling video gig is tough. I tried it for a few years and with a small channel got up to about 1500 subs. Problem is, I didn't enjoy filming it as much as I enjoyed just reselling. I think it showed because even with that many subs, breaking 100 views in a video was tough. Recently I've started up some other channels, one which is revolving around Vegas and sports betting, and with only 160 subs, I get way more clicks and view hours on 1 video than I ever did in a week of putting out 2-4 reselling videos. I think the audience for reselling is obviously much smaller too. I miss sharing my reselling but I am glad for what it taught me for my new channels! You even commented on one of my videos once and bought something from my store, so I feel like I reached the peak with just that ;)
I totally understand about the cost of individual health insurance. I sell on eBay but my husband has been in business for 21 years, and we've had individual insurance.
I’ve always love your content. I’ve been on eBay for a while more to try to sell unwanted or no longer needed items to items that I inherited. You have always bring up good points and give good insight on things that I never have dabbled with or bring a understanding on things that I didn’t know. Have always thought of going into flipping but not sure what to get into.
With your Grainger orders, you have like two weeks to pick everything up. It's easier for both you and them if you wait until the last of the order comes in. Then it's just one stop.
I have a hobby channel and it has helped me deal with breast cancer. My channel isn’t about that though. My channel is a variety that just documents things in my life. It’ll never blow up as it’s not a niche channel but I enjoy doing it. I have very little resources since cancer so it is what it is. But I do have some videos that people have really liked. As long as I enjoy it, I’ll keep making the videos. I have 179 videos and a mere 358 subscribers. I’d love to make it to at least 1000 subs. Love your videos Lonnie & Candice.
It’s not just 1,000 subs. You also have to have 4,000 hours of watch time per calendar year. Edit: my partner just told me that YT changed its rules in June to 500 subs and 3,000 watch hours in the last calendar year or 3,000,000 views of shorts in the last 90 days. I have a channel that made it to 1,000 subs, but sadly, they were all just “looky loos,” and it became frustrating that despite all the work, I couldn’t get 90% of the men to sub my channel. I only made money when I created a Patreon account and then the serious viewers followed me to that platform.
Lonnie is right this summer I did fencing for a friends company. Monday thru Thursday usually 2 jobs a week. It was/is a definite departure from reselling. But did lose about 30 pounds doing actual physical work again
False thing guys about "if not for resale then you wouldn't have this". Have you seen Lonnie with how he shows confidence on camera, he's a natural. Like you guys said it being your passion, you'd be doing RU-vid in some other niche or something. You can tell that from his first videos before Candice, even more so now with her. Reselling is just a chapter in the journey from your guys life that you share. I would watch anything you share cause it's you guys we're here for.
Well not 1st today. Had to get out early to stock up my store. Trying to acquire some decorations for Halloween and Christmas to sell. Did pretty good. Great video as always.
I care about the car parts and what they fit. Do you use a tool when listing auto parts to more easily list them? Every time I’ve found auto parts and went to list I struggled with fitment and how to ensure that stuff is all loaded and filled out correctly.
I’m considering using my YT channel to promote my eBay store since I’m not posting tap dance and workouts anymore. I know it could be a game changer. I also know how much time YT takes. 🤔 Thanks for your insight! ☮️
I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment because it’s an older video but it just popped up and I needed to see this video today. I’ve had my RU-vid channel for 5 1/2 years. It’s not a reselling channel it’s a craft channel ,hand made jewelry tutorial channel ,haul channel and I’ve been struggling for a long time to get remonetized because I was monetized , changed what I was doing , then got monetized, because I was doing Goodwill jewelry box hauls , after being a tutorial channel for quite a while and then the boxes became garbage and I couldn’t buy them anymore and all the new subscribers I got that wanted to watch those videos disappeared and unfortunately doing that chased away all my tutorial people and I lost most of them as well. and I now can’t get my watch time to even 1500 watch hours in a year. So I was monetized for a very short time made one check of $100 and now I can’t get it back and I want to work on my reselling business more , and I’ve been struggling with that question do I put my time in to just reselling or do I keep my channel going because I do love it and I appreciate the subscribers I have that do watch, but I also I’m tired and don’t know if I want to do it. I killed my channel when I switched my focus and then switched it back, and I don’t think I can ever get it back. It makes me sad but it’s hard to put all the work into a creating video, or any kind of video and get 50 to 100 views. I have 2200 subscribers but don’t get any views People tell me oh but if you enjoy it who cares how many people are watching but that’s a lot of work for 50 to 100 views. so I’m very discouraged and seeing your video kind of gives me permission to walk away if that’s what I decide to do. At some point you have to say where is my time more valuable. I’ve enjoyed your channel for years and I’ve learned so much from you guys and I think I’m gonna start putting my focus back on reselling and pull away from the channel and if I do it it’ll be a very very part-time hobby channel that I only post to on occasion. Thanks for sharing your journey and for being honest about it all. I don’t think it’s a coincidence when you’re struggling with something and and then you see a video that’s exactly what you need to see.😁
@Josh Graff is doing amazing things. He sells stuff that others wrinkle their noses at and is doing great. I consider Josh to be an internet stanger friend ❤️🔥 I agree that he could do well ❤️🔥❤️👩🌾
The internet changed everything. 9/11 changed everything. RU-vid changed everything. COVID changed everything. We have to adjust or fall behind. I agree that it's not shared knowledge but what we do with that knowledge that makes all the difference. Good discussion and video, Lonnie and Candace.
Hey There! I was wondering about eBay and SEO. I'm sure I could Google or watch a YT video but I would like to hear your answer/explanation. If you enter keywords in the description are those searchable on Ebay and/or Google? Any tips on the format of titles? Thanks and LOVE the channel!
Candace I know it had to be scary to leave a so called regular job to resell full time but so glad you did lol. What would Lonnie be without Candace and what would Candace be without Lonnie? Answer: Not as much fun!
As for showing your sourcing. I'm out there every day on marketplace looking for a collection of NUTCRACKERS to sell. 😊 that said I recently bought a bunch of football helmets (last used in 2008) however I am into them for more than $10 each.
Everyone wants to be a “celebrity” nowadays..reality doesn’t work nowadays like it did when Lonnie and others around his time started. The sheep want unicorns, rainbows and highlight reels nowadays..if you don’t have a GREAT personality, great editing and the mindset to be able to fake the funk..just forget it
I don’t like resellers saying they get for a dollar, then you have good will, thrift stores and even garage sales that want to sell at eBay prices. Amazon sellers hardly ever say what they sell unless it’s out of stock or no longer available. It’s such a pro and con. But with our economy every one wants to get all the meat off the bone then sell you the bone at a ridiculous price.
Another great video! Question: I have a vintage sealed Nintendo item to sell thats worth around $500. Do think I should use delivery confirmation? Do you ever use delivery confirmation, if so when?I will use priority mail and extra insurance. Thanks for all the great info.
You ABSOLUTELY should use "signature confirmation" on an item like that. Not only is it worth $500, expensive vintage video games are a popular target for fraud. You'd actually be crazy not to. eBay claims if it is under $750 and the buyer claims it didn't arrive they will cover your loss, but frankly eBay's claims of buyer protection are hit and miss at best. Like Amazon, eBay doesn't always honor their buyer protections and you have virtually no recourse if they don't. (Never assume they will cover your losses from a crooked buyer and protect yourself as much as possible.)
T Edison failed more then 1000 times and didn’t quit. I think it is a personal decision and your heart says keep going then you should keep going. Life is hard sometimes. I was a little put off by your advice to give up. Most successful people have failed many times over.
@@shedflips that’s what I thought-just couldn’t see the bottom of the shirt in your video! (I’m from the Chicago suburbs so I know all about Ferris-LOL!
I love watching you guys, I'm in the UK and not a reseller, but I stumbled on your channel, about 3 years ago, I watch for the entertainment, Can I ask one wee favour though? Lonnie, please stop spinning the camera between you both, I end up feeling motion sick!!!
