Timeline to take the bed off Tips Weight of bed
@OrangeWiresGarage

You can have the bed completely ready to remove in an hour or less and two people can take it off but 4 is better. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

@@OrangeWiresGarage Big thanks !!! Only owned for… two weeks 🤦🏻‍♂️ My thoughts as related Once bed is removed : I plan on changing out the tire carrier brace and that bolt in right-to- left brace above the tire carrier that sits just below bed at far rear of truck but above that Tire x”. Brace that holds the tire and cable retriever And already plan to replace the back bumper and change out rear springs and shocks and replace that “grid . Mesh gas tank “cover “ with after market and probably change out related brake lines So in my mind, it’s the primary rails up to the cab and the perch mounts and entire rear -end assembly I hope to have media blasted I also thought if I went ahead and had a locker added maybe pull the entire rear and have that prepped / and outsourced away from a media blasting firm and the axle reviewed refresh from backing plate to brake backing plate ? And re prepped and painted before reinstall But then no rolling chassis for x days Any thing is an improvement as all in all the frame is pretty stout…. Considering and comparatively speaking- And I’m not seeking a show truck - just a sound cleaned rear frame assembly for metal prep solution -brush or spray on . primer and paint Assume I need to somehow identify in advance the new hardened bolt spec details for reinstall of truck bed, springs etc Unclear what other non por15 but proven primer and paint options are out there as well I’ve used that and how and when parts need to be removed once this is applied is another matter entirely and proper prep is key.

@@MrBluoct that absolutely seems like a solid plan, the spare carrier is a common place for these things to rust. The more serious rust location is around the front spring hangers where the rails go down. We just bought grade 8 bolts from tractor supply for the bed and they worked perfect, Eastwood sells a lot of frame coatings you can check them out we are totally non affiliated but do like their products a lot.

Does this truck have the 3.4 V6 innit?
