The lightning bolt that appears at 0:33 and again (mirror image) at 0:40 became a frequently-used piece of stock footage appearing in 100s of movies and TV episodes. Used in Son of Frankenstein, Ghost of Frankenstein, Ed Wood’s Bride of the Monster, the Six Million Dollar Man, the opening credits of the 1978 Incredible Hulk series, and the opening of the 1982 Elvira Movie Macabre show, among many others. This lightning effect was reportedly made by Kenneth Strickfaden, who built the high voltage electrical equipment featured in the lab. Most recently appeared in the season 1 finale of the 2022 She-Hulk series.
The lab equipment was bigger and more sophisticated than the one in the first movie, plus the creation sequence was longer and with better camera angles. Ah, the perks of getting a higher budget for the sequel!
Elsa Lanchester was so amazing as Mary Shelly in the start of the movie. Then as the bride. That hiss when the monster was ready to pull the leaver to blow the castle up.
