This is my last Tekken 8 Beta video. I played a little bit of Asuka to check out her changes from the CNT and she did get hit kind of hard. I do not think she is like terrible now, but I think her nerfs were unnecessary aside from her SS2 nerf. One thing I noticed however that I did not really use in the CNT, her Oki game from her setups got nerfed in this game. As you can see in this video, the punches after her tackle, the opponent gets up too quickly now so her F2 is no longer guaranteed after that. She does not keep her Ki Charge state after the punches. This makes me pretty sad since in a lot of Tekken 7 vids you see me use her Ki Charge Tackle Setups a lot because of the good oki she gets afterwards. Now is more so just a gimmick with no benefit, like a troll tool. Her DF3 refloat also got took out in this game. RIP :(

I liked the setups and combos you did with Asuka. She's my secondary which makes me appreciate this video! I agree they made her so much different compared to not just the CNT but Tekken 7 too. for example pressing 4 after 2,2 only goes low now and normally that's D4 and pressing just 4 would launch on second kick. took me a while to get used to that.

@@RicksStarz you're welcome! Oops I meant to say 1,1 lol my bad. I wonder if after just delaying the 4 to press down 3+4 will work to at least make that simple combo connect into a launcher if it hits. Otherwise that's just a change we'll have to live with

@@saulaceituno14I was about to exclaim “you have a secondary too~?!” but realised many have it and that’s not special. For me who only started doing online matches this week, my main is Jack and my secondary is Zafina. Still trying to get used to the difference in play style. While Jack can really do great damage with forward 1-1 interrupting a lot of moves from many characters in the roster, Zafina is similar but different in that I can’t rely on simplicity of her kit like I can with Jack.

I think one major reason why they nerfed the sht out of her is for people to move onto Jun Kazama because of similar fighting styles.

If they did, doesn't matter. We like the characters we like and for some of us, the actual _character_ has a lot to do with it. Those of us who started with 5 know and love Asuka, I don't particularly care about Jun and hope other people share such sentiments. If you kill off a character, you don't just get to bring 'em back several installations later, especially when another character has the same moveset to ensure its gameplay lives on. No matter how much we might mish Heihachi.

Yeah, she did feel weaker than she is in T7. Her mixup is definitely weaker. But that said her parry changes are more fair.

@@user-ry5oh3qt2u Grab cannot be broken when she parries. Plus I think she cannot parry jumping attacks like hopkicks, orbital etc as far as I have tested,but could be timing issue on my part. Though it cannot be chickened anymorr.

asuka is my main... at first she was broken, now she's ok and requires minimum skills. the first version was simply braindead, now she's absolutely ok

I think the db1 should be back to the way it was. Her other nerfs is not too bad.

@@RicksStarz db1 is a powerful tool that can lead to heat dash and alone has high crush properties, to me it's right that now is -10. the opponent is still conditioned by the follow up, so hardly we'll get someone always on point to punish that. the other nerfs are on setups or strings so we can accept them. 2,1 now jails and it's a powerful move able to cover distances. 2,3 lost knd but gain wall carry so it's not a nerf. anyway, let's see the final asuka on release and we'll have the full scenario :)

She seems more suited for T8’s more poke heavy system. Now moves that could be blocked have a stronger impact than long string combos. Definitely not weaker than the other characters in the roster.

Ummm I think Tekken 8 is a tad better than Tekken 7 PlayStation. I wouldn’t say is like Tekken on PC tho.

The input of her punch Sabaki is now F2+3 in Tekken 8.

I really like her new move that parries lows and does ton of pushback on block... but forward forward 1 was a staple of my playstyle and it is so ruined now. If it misses you are just done

It's like Tekken 6 all over again with Asuka, so many changes but with her low sabaki parry returning, Asuka is a complete sabaki parry machine. Asuka loyalist might need to make an adjustments on their play style.

Hello! Sorry to bother, but I was wondering if anyone could annotate that first combo for me. I'm brand new to Tekken, so I dont recognize her moves at all visually but would love to practice her. I can understand the tekken notations just fine

Welcome! The combo I did was: F2+3 (Punch Sabaki) - 1+4 - 2,1,1+2 - B4,2,3 (Delay 3)

@RicksStarz Thank you so much! This is the second time I've seen that b423 string in a combo video, the other one also mentioned a delay but I thought it was a mistake. Finally looked it up after your reply, crazy how they really give you extra damage for the delay, I thought I was going insane for a while there mashing the input for less damage lol

@@wisdomseeker0142 LOL! Yes, her ki charge tackle setup did get nerf. In the vid I did the tackle and the punches and you can see how early they got up. She doesn’t get her guaranteed f2 after anymore and her ki charge does not linger after like it did in T7.

They want to keep the more popular and new characters (Jin, Jun, etc.) top tier since those characters are the main characters of the story I guess.

listen if there isn’t an open beta test you know this is her final form right?forced 50/50’s and taking away the defensive options away and not allowing sidesteps after heat engages and dashes is the most insulting to the foundations of Tekken . if they do this to asuka what do you think they will do with specialist characters like Lee, Steve, and Yoshimitsu….

You never know. I think they are going to nerf/buff a lot of stuff before the game releases. Also I heard that they kinda buff sidestepping in this game and you can step more moves as compared to T7. I think they are still defensive options in Tekken 8 via sidestepping, powercrush, crushing, or just blocking. You just can’t really backdash all match any more like in T7.

@@RicksStarzmannn we only have a few weeks left. Reverting all of the changes seem unlikely now that the evo champs played the cbt . It looks like we will have to wait for the first balance patch … which is months away and that’s if we get an open beta which is a toss up.. idk.
