The path to avoid poverty is straightforward. Don’t drop out of school. Learn a marketable skill. Become financially literate (numeracy). Don’t have children outside of marriage. Avoid criminal behavior. Marry someone that shares the same values, beliefs, morals, and life goals.

Speaking as a black businessman, there are issues with non-professionalism among black businesses, but there is also a problem with black customers. I often got "You charge white people prices!" and had to explain, "I'm paying white people bills."

My brother owned 2 shop inspecting cars emission test . 70% of the customers were non black. They recommended their white friends to get their cars inspected at my brother in law shops. Most black people came to the shop expecting a discount or a poor I’m a baby momma so I got it hard so give me a discount. My brother started marketing to non black people. My brother ran a reparable business charged standard prices. Even the black American Muslim community refused to support my brother shops. To be frank the black community doesn’t respect businesses owned by black men. I sternly advice brothers don’t market your business to a demographic that has shown no interest in helping black male businesses growth. Even black men don’t support black male businesses to spite them. A lot of black men raised by single mothers have feminine energy so they don’t like supporting other men either.

@@charlesirby1643 I don't in any way discount what you're saying here. But I don't believe because something is a certain way that it must remain as such. Probably not the best example but I'm sure elderly black people in the 1960's would never have imagined in their younger years that segregation would one day be dismantled. So I don't think it's impossible for black male businesses to be viewed higher among black people. And to be honest I'm really talking about black men. Or I should say black males because I agree some black men will never change but if there's a collective effort to get black boys to view black male achievement higher than the dynamic might change somewhat. Just a thought.

I haven't listened to the entire show. She made some good points, and many of the comments made here have some validity. I know some don't want to hear this, but we are late off the blocks. Some of our ancestors were fortunate enough to be land and home owners, but for the majority of us, we were raised by working class parents that instilled in us to be working class. Financial independence and generational wealth are terms that were not spoken of in most lower and middle-class homes. Now that we are becoming aware of the importance of ownership, we can teach our children about creating a wealth standard for themselves and their children. Financial literacy is crucial and without it, you can stand to lose everything you've worked for.

I'm a white man married to a Nigerian woman for two years. My late wife of 14 years was a Black American. Before that, I dated Black women almost exclusively for about two decades. In my perspective, if we're talking about the ability of two people to relate to each other... there are so many more important factors than the color of your skin. Culture, class, upbringing, religion, ideology, etc... There's no way one can find another who can 💯 relate. In fact, my wife and I love that our cultures, accents, ect. are so different... it adds so much interest and entertainment to our marriage.

What is struggle love though? How do we define it? I know what people *say* is struggle love is but I look at it differently than some. For example, if you are two people in love an in a relationship at 18, in college, and still figuring out your money and career is that struggle love or just being young and still figuring out life? Or is it struggle love if you are still figuring out money and career at 30? That's what I'm saying. I think part of the problem in the black community is that we don't take things seriously until too late. We think we should be able to play around, date around, all kinds of stuff before 30. Then when we hit 30 then we want to look at our finances, credit, futures, and our love lives and make the shift. We have to stop thinking like we have all the time in the world to take care of business. Many white parents teach their kids to be marriage minded young! I don't think that's all bad. I don't think everyone needs to be getting marriage young - not my point. My point is that they understand to not just date around for fun FOREVER! They understand at a young age to take things more serious. I"m saying this because I think it's important. I hate to compare but I will for this situation. White people teach their kids at a young ages about finances in the way black parents don't. So, when some of these white kids are 18 in college they already have a foundation that many black kids don't when it comes to money, marriage, and family. They already have a sense of where they want to be at 25 and they are saving at 18 for their futures. You don't hear that as much from 18 year-old black young adults. They are 18 thinking they have all this time to save and prepare for their futures. They aren't thinking about marriage at all. They aren't already thinking about getting a house. Some do...most don't though. Let's keep it real. Then people wonder why struggle love is so prominent in the black community. It's because many parents weren't savvy and they couldn't teach their kids to start being savvy either starting at 18 and not 30. You can't START at 30 trying to think about your future and your financial plans.

I never understood "Black love." What is that? 3000+ tribes in Africa, do they all know what "Black Love"? Why haven't I heard of "White love" or "Arab love" or "Indian love"? If it has nothing to do with historic struggles and history or "he/she gets me," why does "Black love" exist as a moniker? I understand what she's saying. When black people elevate financially they go date another race then the wealth gained doesn't stay in the black community it's transferred to the other spouse's race. Why do people act like they don't get what she's saying. As soon as black men get money they go marry outside of the race then get divorced & she takes half & she's not black so that money's taken away from black wealth. We are already behind our counterparts bc of slavery why continue to give the money back over to them to give them more power? We need to stay together to strengthen our community. It's just facts.

The key word here is "Love" but most importantly it needs to be the Love of Christ. Parents who are growing in the Love of our Lord will position themselves in the right path. If they transmit this same love to their children, the children are set for greatness in the Kingdom of heaven. Parents need to be spiritually mature to overcome anything. Educated mom and dad. My six siblings all went to college and graduated. We were equally yoked. I had 2 sons with my husband. But one of my sons said he cannot find any black girls that he likes. He said he doesn't want to raise someone else's child because all he dates is black women with children. My other son has a white wife and they have a mixed daughter.. My mom and dad left property and money. I am saving money for my sons, and so are my sibblings. My mom and dad saved so much money that we are not needing our money. I didn't grow up with my biological family, but the family that helped to raise me, my parents, have been married for 64 years and counting and there's something about having an up close view of two people in the same household working toward a common goal. When you're being intentional there's certain things that you hold yourself to. Others will have their opinions, but I certainly understand this perspective. I can speak to the reality of wealth being passed down and it changing the trajectory of your family's financial status and well being first hand. Had my husband been married to anyone else, that would have been wealth that went outside of the community when he passed away. Instead, its been used to purchase a home with no mortgage in a mixed middle class neighborhood (still majority black), spend money in black businesses in the neighborhood, build a black business, having a roth ira and building an investment portfolio overall, our son doesnt have to pay for college at all if he decides to go, no debt, etc. We do understand the reality and the effects of black wealth being passed down to other ethnic groups because of the fact that anyone non black is what many saught first after having attained the wealth (for the sake of status and how others view them in many instances amongst other things as well). There is this mindset that anything non black is right amongst us and it needs to be addressed. That is the problem. Not merely dating outside of your race. But, the rate at which black people (typically men) do it in comparison to other demographics of men speaks volumes and highlights a certain pathology that is prevalent within said group. And many of these podcasts confirm it. This is what she's addressing.

Economically black people have spent billions of dollars buying and supporting other groups of people products. What if we took our money invest in ourselves, create and support our own businesses we would be a force to be reckoned with. Instead we have squandered our money. We could create our own schools teaching the truth about this world, our own period. Enough of trying to fit into a system that was not meant for us as a people. The problem was many thought the grass would be greener on the other side with the wicked but that grass is actually toxic astroturf. Look at the devastation it has done to our people. I grew up from the 70s and seen the black love and black power with the Afro fist. The wicked put an end to that by flooding the community with drugs, illegal weapons and liquor stores. They promoted blaxploitation films corrupting the mindset of many of our people of the gangsta lifestyle. After that propaganda love for each other disappeared. Black on black crime devastated the community. The wicked planned it all out to destroy the black family

Great show! I’m over 50 and back in my day, I only dated outside my race but now, I only date within my race. Simply because of culture and I love and finally accept who we are as people and not running away from it!( I’m a little ashamed of my past thoughts and behaviour but I’ve changed)

I went to university with men like you at a predominantly white university. So many black men not even glancing myself or my black peers way bc they were busy trying to hook up with any moving white student. That is when I started to view interracial dating as a fetish. One black student walked around with a shirt "I love blondes" and indeed he only dated/hooked up with white students.. I have since change and support it only when it is real love. Good on you for changing.

Look back at the Civil Rights Movements to stay within our race and culture. Every other culture feeds from our talents and culture and we can't see it! What this sister is saying is so on point. Especially what she said about how she watched her parents mold her as a strong black woman. Black people are a disgrace today. I feel ashamed and sadden with how our ancestors fought for what's right to see how we disrespect them today. This interracial issue of rich black man/woman always always marrying white or leave their black wife and immediately marry white. When the white woman leaves their behind they start complaining to the black community. Keep it black to grow black wealth. No other race does this!

She made perfect points, even if u mad at your spouse or whomever, u have to continue to do what u gotta do. This is the case in my family, we be mad at each other, but when it comes to building and getting stuff done for the kids, or for the family-we gonna get it done!!Period

Morality and immorality will never be the same! There's too much immoral behavior in our communities and moral character men will never get involved with immoral women and vice versa. That's the real issue! Good and evil don't mix!

It starts in the family. A lot of families are not close. Therefore they need to communicate and now we learned that lesson we can start healing of the community.

politics does. and like it or not marrying is politics. and its selfish to not consider what your kids deal with to even decide to say "love" has no color. biracial kids have so much issues from these unions and many suffer in silence.

I am definitely tired of us sugar coating things or feeling bad about having black pride. This doesn’t mean we are black supremacist! Being a Christian means love every race, but to feel bad about the betterment of the community is nothing to feel passive about. Interracial dating is definitely hurting our community. The simple fact that this is being pushed with commercials in movies whatever is a problem and is an agenda. They really don’t want there being anymore black people.
