Got these as a more portable solution to the BTR5. Ldac and uat codecs are very demanding on the battery (to be fair, ldac is quite taxing on the btr5 as well) . The latter codec stutters very easily as well. Just waking and unlocking your phone is enough to trigger the stutter. Overall, good for a trip to town or exercising.

Thanks for the review. I’m keen to figure out if this has any advantages over my FiiO BTR3. A key aspect for me, which you didn’t mention*, is the mic quality for phone and video calls. I think the BTR3 mic is ok - but not great. *I’ve just read your written review, in which you touched on call quality. Seems very positive - so this is definitely a contender for me. It might be worth reminding folks on your videos to check out the written reviews - I had forgotten those were available. But great work. Love how you present your reviews 👏👏👏

It is good for making my shp9500 wireless. Just stick it with velcro to the headband with short aux cable.

It looks like a great device for the size. I use both the Fiio BTR5 and BTR3K most days using LDAC with my Sony phone. The BTR5 drives everything I have though the BTR3K gets close to maximum with some IEMs. The Fiio apps are required to get the most out of both devices. Does this Hidizs make use of an app? I'm interested in UAT it seems very impressive.

Curiousity question. I'm not well versed in certain areas and am trying to improve my knowledge with respect to DAC(s) and AMPS. I understand some are separate in their function like my old Fiio A3 portable headphone amp and some are both like my Fiio BTR5. By your description and from what I've read online I gather this does function as an amplifier. Now, my question is with regard to the digital to analog conversion. I hear no mention of any AKM or ES chip nor do I find a description of one anywhere online. How does the Hidiz H2 function as a DAC if it seems it doesn't utilize an actual DAC chip? Please shed some light on this for me.

I just assumed the Qualcomm CSR8675 took on that duty but I could be wrong.

How this compares in terms of sound against the BTR3 o BTR3K?

BTR3 holds its own against this. The only advantages H2 has over BTR3 is its slightly smaller footprint and UAT codec.

The BTR3/K also offers the benefit of a balanced output since it uses dual AK DAC chips with individual AMPS for each side as well as potentially longer battery life depending on the codec used. The BTR5 upgrades to dual Saber ES9018 chips. Having the latter I can vouch sound quality is GREAT... even more when one considers it's size. However, the Hidiz H2 has both of them beat in size while providing "CD" level sound quality (from what I gather from several articles).

Great review. I would like to know if the sound quality of this tinny marbel paired with per say a tripowin 01 or a Bl05s is going to be better or clarly better than a Galaxy buds pro or Fill T1pro or Any Bluetooth of god quality... Since this device is also bluetooth... Thanks so much and great review again.

Well, it really depends on the earphones you're using. If you think a BL05s sounds better when using them wired than the Galaxy buds then this will sound better than them using the H2 as well. That's the beauty of devices like this: you can use them with any IEM but with TWS you're stuck with only 1 sound.

can i pair it with my bluetooth car audio? how do i pair it with the phone and then with the bluetooth signal of the car? do you think it is possible to do this? i.e. use the Qobuz player on my smartphone and play the audio through the car speakers? could you make a short "clip" of how you would pair? I thank you.

Not possible. It can receive only, not transmit. The only way to use it in the car is with an aux cable and that would not be ideal.

Ok my almost 3 months review: The sound quality is good but don't expect. a huge difference to cheaper counterparts even when used with higher end headphones (also depending on your hearing range...) The MIC is great which is the second important reason I bought this. There is "hiss" sound The Bluetooth reach/range is bad, worse than my old 10 dollar adapter I noticed the battery life is very short for listening to music and good for calling, possibly there is more power users... not sure about that The clip could be designed better and the whole design feels very fragile It will take some time to get used to the button layout. Hope this helps some viewers who are looking to buy this.

Just bought both of them , I would say they look almost identical but somehow the Sony feels better quality and better clip. Sound wise the h2 is more dynamic, clear open, but less sub bass and 2 clicks Lauder.

@@supernova1976 Thanks! This is what exactly I was looking for :) I'll go for the H2, although the clip is not great. How does the MIC sound for phone calls? I have been using the Griffin itrip Clip and it was okay but MIC is catches the noise too much and the person on the call cannot hear me properly.

I cannot put LDAC on the device. Whenever I selected LDAC on the Android developer option it automatically came back to default aptX-HD. Does anyone care to help?

What phone do you have? I don't have an Android phone but I can connect my Sony NW ZX-300 with LDAC.

Yes, should be. I don't know why LDAC isn't working for you. But I wouldn't worry if your aptX-HD is working - that is also a very good quality codec.
