I vaguely know the story of Waitress, but I know the song is talking about the suddenly pregnancy. But even so, it reminds me of not only my struggle, but my friends struggles, with depression. It takes the life out of you, and the person you were before is gone. "And then she'll get stuck and be scared of the life that's inside her...getting stronger each day, as it finally reminds her to fight just a little. To bring back the fire in her eyes. That's been gone, but used to be mine." That struggle of overcoming and getting back to a place where you are okay again is exactly like that. Just wanted to throw that out there.

As someone with depression, I can say I love this song and love to listen to it. I know the context of the song but some of the lyrics hit me differently. Like whenever I listen to this song I just think someone with depression is just singing to them happier selves and know they’re just getting stronger everyday they wake up even though they don’t feel strong.

okokok can we all just sit down and think. she added a tiny pause at the end of the song, let's talk about this itty bitty light of my life, she added this pause ( i presume) so that the piano can wow us with that music, and wow, they are great, but still, there is a tiny pause AFTER that, and that's why i"m typing a paragraph about a pause at the end of a video. that pause, just lets you sit there, realize how much you love her vocals, and the song itself, and the message and dadadada this is amazing, but it also gives you enough time to get back to the tab that is playing music and repeat the song but isn't soo long that you get annoyed if you don't want to listen to it again. Before I start rambling on, Anna, thank you so much for covering this song. Even if it wasn't for me, the heart you pour into your covers shows so much emotion behind it that there's no doubt in my mind you could be a professional singer if you tried, but we're happy to have you here on RU-vid. As for why I'm so happy you covered this, when I sing this song I'm immediately reminded of a close friend of mine, Taryn, who I've been trying to make happy for about ten years now. She and I were inseperable nine years ago, when we would tell each other literally everything about our lives. Our dreams, our passions. We would cry on each other's shoulders when we were hurt and cheer for each other in whatever we did. We first met in a group of friends called the "Guardanian Wolf Pack" before she was forcefully removed by my life by someone who's name I to this day do not know, but we call him Fox Face. Despite my warnings, she got into a relationship with this person and to keep her, he proceeded to tear apart the friendships I had come to enjoy, turning every single person in our group against one another to ensure he would not have any competition. He forcefully separated me and Taryn, and she ended up marrying him for all of a year while he forced her to break her lines of contact with me. They were together for a good year to my knowledge before they broke up and she moved away, and a few years later she managed to get back in contact with me. However, she was changed quite a bit by him, and is no longer nearly as close a friend with me as she used to be. Though she now has a rather large group of friends and a fiance', I cannot help but wish for the days when she and and I were best friends, when I wished I could stomach the courage to ask her out and try my damndest to make her happy. This song reminds me of the girl I fell in love with, even if she's gone from my life now. It reminds me of the friend I had before she was torn from my life, and no matter what I do or say, I'll never be able to change her mind on the man she is with now. I hope by listening to this song, specifically your cover of it and many others, that I will finally be able to have closure and move on. Thank you so much, Anna!
