She smashed our truck. Didn't have insurance and tried to blame us. This is the scene of the accident.

Great story. This is a main reason why I bought a cheap Amazon front and rear dash cam. When I'm plowing I let those cameras roll and strobe lights stay lit when plowing in and out entrances because people just don't know how to slow down and proceed with caution.

@@Dirtmonkey was going to reply with the suggestion that you fit flashing lights to your vehicles. Even when operating on private lots where other motorists may enter, it's a warning that caution needs to be applied when approaching that will either help avoid incidents or will help clear you of liability. Something to think about is what colour lights you are allowed to use and also what style / flash pattern is most appropriate. A fast strobe with clear gaps between on and off is the best attention getter, but the strobing light may also affect your operators vision, where a slow pulsing would be better. You may even want to change flash patterns, say fast strobe during the day and at the edges of roads, slow pulsing at night within your private lots. You can buy reasonably priced magnetic mount lights that just plug into cigarette sockets and don't require any installation, but don't buy the cheapest lights because you really do get what you pay for with emergency lighting. Depending on your laws and budget, the options for lights is very broad. A good dual colour with amber and white LED's in a magnetic "mini bar" that has separate switches for colours one and two plus a flash pattern selection would be ideal. You can select amber only in a slow flash, white only in a steady burn (for scene lighting) and a fast pattern with amber and white.
@oneninerniner3427
@oneninerniner3427 Год назад
I think we are supposed to only run amber in minn for private contractors. I got an amber strobe mini light bar from tractor supply a few years ago, I think it was on sale for a hundo bucks at the time. Was nice & Brite, but then the darn LEDs started going out this winter. So I found one on Amazon for about a third of the price. Wow I think it's as good or better than my old one! For the price I probably should have bought two in case this one craps out!

There is another advantage of recording your work besides having evidence that you didn't cause damage - not all people are honest. When snow conditions and weather patterns are like that there is a likelyhood that you could clear snow late in the evening/overnight and then have another heavy dump of snow later. If a client phones in in the morning claiming it wasn't cleared - either in honest belief or 'trying it on' - they can be sent a copy of the work actually being done.

@@jeffc6832 yes they do when they assume that you have insurance and think nobody has a camera recording footage, showing them trying to scam. Happened to me. Was at a red light at 1.58am when someone that had no lights on, snuck up behind me then hit my car in the rear. They tried telling the cops that I reversed into them and destroyed the whole front end. Except the damage didn't match up. They hit me only hard enough to leave some paint on my towball. Cop taking photos even said there should be far more damage on my car. He knew what was going on and wrote they were attempting a fraudulent claim. Camera footage from the traffic lights exposed the attempt at fraud. In my 36 years driving I've never taken out insurance and only ever had 3rd party for personal injury as part of the registration fees. Everyone has that but most also take out liability accident insurance. I just don't drive in a manner to cause and be responsible for any accidents. Had 7 accidents but never been the cause. In Aug of last year a couple of guys were trying to get a truck unstuck, and the hitch broke and the rope threw the hitch through the windshield of the stuck truck and killed the driver of the truck... Pro's recommend using a specialty hitch insert designed for pulling or just pull the hitch out and use the hitch pin through the eyelet. I was thinking also... If you don't want the amber lights running while filming, maybe some of that red/white reflective tape ( like you see on the side and rear of semi trailers) ran across the top of the rear plows, would help make them much more visible at night. It sticks to just about anything... Anyway, ya'll were super nice. Situation was handled admirably and respectfully it looks like. Just want y'all to stay safe...

I do wish in my Humble opinion that you would get a magnet mount (Strobe/Flasher) on the back of your snow plow Pickups. They make great magnet mount single or Light Bar systems. I would have people right on my TAIL, as I'm trying to spin a Sand/ Salt Brine with a spinner on the rear of the Plow, the People would just start tailgating a dump truck. We even had BIG orange signs say "Stay back 300 Feet". Many times I just stopped plowing, moved to the side to get these idiots OFF my Rear. I had people get so angry with me when I told them we are NOT a TOW TRUCK service. One year there were so many vehicles just abandoned in Right-of-way. The people just left their cars. I so badly wanted to just plow them off road, we could get nothing done as far as plowing snow, plus there were massive backups from the vehicle Abandoned. One year one of the plows blew snow on a person walking in Road, not sidewalk, was in very dark clothing. The plows would be blowing snow like a snowblower. The person BROKE their ARM. Big claim against the city.

It seems like a lot of people don't have car insurance nowadays. I pay extra on my insurance for uninsured motorist for that exact reason. It would be a really good idea to invest in a high quality dash cam that records front and rear. It will pay for itself eventually.

Having strobes when plowing on or near a public streets and parking lots are important. Corner strobes are also helpful. Insurance companies will do whatever to pin the blame on plow operators. Take their ammo away. Make sure your plow equipment has a roof strobe at a minimum.

Keep up the great work! Couldn’t have said it better, any night/day… long shift is an adventure. Question, do you salt also? If so do most of your contracts request that? Not fun sliding around a bit on an iced lot in a tracked bobcat clearing where they don’t want salt.

It’s a great country, here. Ten years ago my daughter got T-boned by a guy running a stop sign late at night in Minneapolis. He had no insurance. Daughter’s car should have been totaled instead of repaired. Car was never quite right after that. Fortunately, she was okay. Lost $500 deductible. Insurance company went after the guy, but never got a dime. Makes no sense.

NEVER EVER touch anyone's vehicles EVER! Once you touch their vehicle you are responsible for everything that happens to that vehicle. Two months from now they can say you damage their transmission, front-end components, etc. There is no upside to being a nice guy. Just ignore them, and tell them you'll call a tow truck.

Another great video, You got some good guys there, I wouldn't have been so calm as they were, It sucks that she didn't have insurance, and it baffles me that they get away without insurance, I didn't think you could get your license renewed without insurance, So I love the video's, My next question Is Where's the Ford pickup you bought Over In Wisconsin with the plow package ? I haven't seen any videos with it plowing snow.

Can't help thinking if we are getting the full story here, only speculating but that's what the comments are for! Plow clears the frontage and then reverses back onto the road into the path of the car to start plowing in. Car swerves and starts to slide, meanwhile plow moves off the carriageway hence point of impact is off the main road. Got to echo the comment further down, no beacons on the vehicles and not even a couple of warning signs placed either side of the entrance before starting to work sounds iffy! Especially as the plows appear to be unlit on the wings, after all they are not manoeuvring in a predictable manner until you can determine that the truck is plowing and not just using the road like a normal vehicle.

The density of that lady accusing the driver. When she was driving fast in the first place. It’s 100% her fault no insurance or not. I wouldn’t of pulled her out if she didn’t have insurance so you don’t need to be on the road to get into another accident. Although somebody else would’ve pulled her out wrecker whatever but it wouldn’t be on you. I used to do construction and the company I work for a trucking company out of the ditch because it missed the car by inches. And then an hour later it went head on and killed somebody , a family. That decision eat that guy up. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Reading other comments, run more lights, and reflective material, and dash cams. A cheap way to mark the plow end tip is with bicycle lights. Battery operated and cheap, and mountable. You never know the type of people you will run into on the roads.
