faron young was a one time singer never to be forgotten. This new country does not ompare to the oldies. Its sad we can't have singers today to recreate the old music which was so enjoyable to listen to.
Country music today has canned lyrics delivered in the style of rap music. I cannot stand to listen to it. The last Country Music I like came along in the late 80s and 90s: Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakum, George Strait and Randy Travis. They were all heavily influenced by the greats from the 50s and 60s like Faron Young and George Jones and others. Country Music died after this last generation who did their best to be faithful to the past.
What a great singer. This video shows Faron at his best-physically and vocally. Three fiddles, a steel guitar and Faron Young; that is as good as it gets. A tremendous talent that we still get to enjoy today.
The center fiddle player looks a lot like Don Rich, Buck Owns' side man and lead guitar player. Rich was an accomplished fiddle player before he took up guitar.
This is a master class in how to sing a country song so that you convince the listener that you actually lived the song. If Faron didn't fall into the arms of a loving woman after putting up with a cold, indifferent and sexless one, he sure had me convinced. That line about "loving me was too much of a bother" felt like a knife in me. Been there. Before booze got him, this guy was the best. His looks and voice got destroyed by booze. And then, sadly, he shot himself. If only he knew how many people loved him, and continued to discover and love him decades after his death. Please reach out and get help if you are depressed. No matter how alone you feel, there are people who will care if they only know you need them. And leave the booze alone. It never did anyone good, and has done millions harm. Rest in peace, Faron. Thanks to RU-vid, you are remembered with love.
Wby I couldnt agree more ~Faron , Ray Price and Marty Robbins inmy book ~Had the Pleasure of Booking Faron in 1963 ~ Damm ~ Such agreat guy and a great show ~ became real good friends and always had him when he was back in the PNW Each year ~Sure do Miss him~Steve
Oh!! my goodness he gives me goose pimples on this song with so much, emotion and feelings i love all Faron Young songs and i have him on LP,,,,,,still play them thank you Faron
FARON OFTEN CLOWNED AROUND ON TV SHOWS. THANK GOD HE SANG STRAIGHT THIS TIME. I THINK HE SOUNDED BETTER HERE THAN IN HIS STUDIO RECORDING. WHAT A HANDSOME, SMARTLY DRESSED GENTLEMAN. HE WASN'T DUBBED "THE HILLBILLY HEART THROB" FOR NOTHING!👍👏🤠🤪 [I just wish that the audio had been amped up higher.🫨😬🥺]
I spin lots of classic & out of print country on my volunteer radio show. I was amazed one day a few years ago after spinning this recording by Faron when I got a call on the studio line from a local college student. He was totally enamored with Faron's singing although he never heard of him-AND hated the "new" country on radio. It was like he was discovering something new! I think that is the appeal of many legendary country singers. Their music will always be discovered and appreciated by new generations.
Hee Haw had some of the greatest singers Nashville ever produced.. week after week this type of music is sadly missed today . The Buckroos simply awesome backup band
Well if the Buckaroos were the backup band, then that is definitely Don Rich on center fiddle. This must have been done shortly before he died in a motorcycle accident. Faron is a favorite and must be in the Country Music Hall of Fame, but Don Rich should be there, too.
@@osbornebanjoekeretteosborn5891 Yes he is he is so lucky I am im my 30's and was no where near his age group. I would have been the biggest Groopie, stalker, other other baby mama. SWEAR
For you people who don't know why the old music ended, its rather simple. The singers didn't quit, the music industry refused to play their songs. The 1980's ended all of it. Keith Whitley was a great example. He showed up on the country charts about this time, sang our old favorite type country with Lori Morgan (George Morgan's daughter) then they cut him off. I've been around this music for 75 years. Things always change and never for the best. Things in this country only get worse by the day.
Oh, forget to mention, in 1953 at 6yrs old was singing Faron's songs to my neighbors. I loved many others through the years but Faron is still my favorite.
OMG Faron, The Deputies AND The Buckaroos!!!!!!! You Tube (& Hee Haw!!!) seriously make dreams come true!!! If watching this, then today's "music" (which not only ISN'T Country, but doesn't have any singers that could carry these fellas guitar straps no matter what genre they claimed to sing) doesn't prove Country Music is dead (or at least on life support) nothin' will. Breaks my heart. Thanks sooooooooo much for sharing this unbelievable video with us!!!!!
Wowww...this clip is from Hee Haw’s first and only season on CBS, 1969....the next year the network’s Rural Purge was in full swing with the cancellation of Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Hee Haw....always great to hear the legendary Faron Young, as well as the equally legendary Don Rich on fiddle...
Several years ago i chatted with (now the late) Kelso Herston who was the Musical Director on Hee Haw for many yrs.... He told me regarding these Faron clips that they really had to clamp down on him because he had a tendency to joke around and really do some distracting comedic smart alecky stuff when he made appearances on television. Classic examples of his playful side are his appearances on Billy Walker's and Porter Wagoner's TV shows, he was really cutting up... Herston told him to "Straighten Up and Fly Right" or they were gunna do it again and again until he got it right. They wanted no jokes or playful Faron for that appearance. Faron gave it 110% here and his other appearance on that show that night doing "Wine Me Up".....
I NEVER Hear him HIT ONE BAD Note No matter how he phrased the song casue he LOVED to always cahnge things a little bit Loved him SOOOO Much ~God Bless you Buddy~Steve
arie....thank you so much for posting faron young....i grew up with this legend, and many others who made country music great, faron was my dads favorite, brings back so many memories.....todays music isnt country,im so gratefull for people like yourselves that do this,so we fans that love the real music can listen to it any time, and of course for you tube.....again arie, thanks a million...bless.
The 31 thumbs down could only be the ones who dislike classic country and prefer todays wannabes..I can name several of them ...but.. the true classic country music fans know who they are anyway..
Everyone who has written in on this vid is RIGHT ON! Oh Man! Triple fiddles (inc. Faron's fiddler Ernie Reed, plus Buckaroo's Don Rich and.... (not sure). Young Doug Jernigan on steel and Doyle Holly on bass. Faron at the top of his game. What delivery, what pitch, what feeling. Love watching this vid and the other "She Went A Little Bit Farther" one from the Billy Walker show.
So great to see all of these Classic Videos~ God I could watch them forever~Sure wish there was a Way to get some ~been trying to Find a copy of a Ray Price Special that he did in Aprx 1985 ~I recorde it thne my EX recorded QVC over it ~Afetr Id Maked it TO NOT USE ~Sure wish I could get some~Steve
Guys without Faron these new guns would be even worse. Its not their fault look at the producers and managers there where the trouble lies. Faron Young and Don Rich together it dont get no better.
@abt7217 110% AGREE! I can't bare to see what they're letting play on the Opry these days (much less making members!!!) I swear if Taylor Swift, Heaven forbid, is ever asked to become a member I will lose all faith in the human race. It's Country in name only now. Country Music = Life
@yenal56 The lyric's to his song's ever one he sing's. have a great story to them. you picture what it would like if it was you that the story was about. Like turn my picture to the wall. Man how would that make you feel.
Thanks to "vecurts" for ID'ing the "3rd fiddler" - Charlie Justice. An' abt7217 is RIGHT ON about the current "country" scene. An' Faron never sang a song badly cause he had perfect pitch an' felt every word.
He does a great job but I enjoy Kilgore version better. Maybe because he helped write it but Merle puts more feeling into it. Faron just couldn't take that Nashville had cut all the older singers out and ate his gun. Sad loss.
