Good video👍🏻 I am a big fan of the dangle, for the reasons you mention, long clothes, not digging into your hip or hip belt. Its also nice for driving, you can lay the knife beside you on the seat. I don’t have a leather dangler, I have been running a carabiner through the belt loop on the sheath and then hooking it to my belt loop on my pants. Seems to work pretty good!

Krik, this video was one of your finest I've seen. I love the sheath itself, but your explanation of why you use a dangler as well as how to use it was even more instructive. I'm going to have to to check the Tandy site again just to see what hardware is available to try this myself. Thanks again!

Thanks for this video. I was wondering why people used danglers and you answered all my questions.

I have made every fixed blade I own a dangler sheath. When I'm out in the woods I am usually in a canoe or hiking with a bag on . I use my snap on belt loop on the shoulder strap of my pack while hiking. Also I prefer to make a back plate on a kydex sheath for retentions sake but knives with rubberized grips get a tight leather sheath the grip holds the knife in just fine. I have never liked carrying high on the waist even in Florida where it pretty much never gets cold . We do have thick brush in our woods tho so instead of trusting the snaps 100% I have a eyelet between the snaps I put a Chicago screw through it keeps brush from popping the snaps. And if I am not hiking through the thick brush that day I put the screw through the back eyelet of the loop or one of the eyelets on my kydex sheath. Thanks for the video I've subscribed.

Thanks Krik. I am not a fan of danglers but your video does make me realize that there are times when it makes some sense. I may try one again.

Great insights as always guys, you know i'm friends with a guy who actually taught survival skills within the British army and his philosophy was to wear the knife around your neck and tucked away inside your shirt, etc when not in use. His reasoning was that having a knife on display is seen as confrontational when facing the public so keeping it hidden was good practise. Always good to see other peoples thoughts on these things ~Peace~

Zed Outdoors Thanks Zed. And that makes a lot of sense. Luckily, when I'm in the forest, I rarely see anyone from the public. And if I do, it's from a distance. But when I'm messing around town, my pocket knife stays well hidden. -Krik

I was wanting to make a dangler for a sheath I am making for a knife that I made. I was unsure of what kind of hardware I was going to have to make. Looks like a simple ring... I can forge that... Thanks, man... I will try to keep an eye on your content. Take care...

Good looking leather work. I'm not real fond of being poked in the side by my knife either so a dangler is great. I've even used them instead of a caribener on my pack and they work pretty good. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

Nice sheath. I have made my own for 35 years simply because I usually don't care for the ones provided with my knives. I actually prefer a belly carry cross draw. I simply rig the belt loop at the angle I want so that the handle rides right at my belly button. Instantly accessible. Just my preference. Everybody should make their own. The tools needed are few and cost almost nothing, plus it is just fun to have a custom sheath for your favorite knife. Thanks for the video.

Very functional piece of equipment. I never thought about the impact that heavier layers would have to accessibility of the knife. Also good point about enabling wear with a full pack. I guess this helps explain why Han Solo had his holster slung low!

Fantastic channel, beautiful sheath etc etc. I basically concur with all the previous positive posts. However, I just wanted to offer some constructive criticism. Some parts are drawn out too much. Eg; the paracord leg strapping bit...could’ve been cut by 50% or more by removing awkward pauses, comments etc. Again, wonderful content and I am grateful for this channel. Keep up the good work👊🏻👍🏻✌🏻🙂

I like danglers because having the handle stick up above the belt is very unpleasant to me. Danglers are nice for California because it gets your knife down below your shirt. If your shirt covers your knife handle, the cops might say that it is a concealed weapon.
