I have seen epoxy pour three-inch thick and it was clear, no the secrete of clear skin is to eliminate bubbles, glass starved of resin, and lastly formation of amine blush. Control of thickness is not a factor. Controlling the application such as not allowing the glass to float away from wood, working the resin into the cloth to avoid bunching and wrinkles, using three coats to fill the weave all contribute the the fairness of the fiberglassing job. you faired the wood , don't mess it up with fiberglass. Boat fairness= you don't feel high or low spots .
