First time I heard 'Go on Home was in 1997...thought it was a new Rebel Song but as the lyrics suggest it was written just after Bloody Sunday by yer man fae the South Dublin Union (great group)
@@therebelcollective6729 Why did it take so long for that song to get so popular? Nobody had ever heard of it but it's a huge favourite now...even folk that ain't interested in politics go pure bongo when it's played.
It wasn't well known. SDU weren't one of the better known rebel bands of that period. When it appeared on Brazen Head CD and whole new audience heard it.
@@therebelcollective6729 Cheers for the info mo chara...Gary does a lovely wee version of the homes of Donegal...surprising to hear that cos I thought he was well radio wae all the Republican stuff but there ye go...whose big Bonner playing with these days? there's a cracking vid on yt of the big horse with Panguar Ban singing Joe McDonnell in 1985 I think...
@@matthewkavanah953 Only seen them when Quinny and Paudge were fronting and big Bonner and some other lads giving it laldy...one of the best Glasgow Irish folk groups since the Blarney Pilgrims in their halcyon days on Rebel Sunday live in Mcnees🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
The sidewalk had some bands back in the day definitely the best was shebeen, after we beat the huns place erupted then came on either shebeen or charlie and the bhoys or the Republican flute band 💚
I'm a proddie man man and I did not agree with what the British done to the Irish so get off the weed and go and educate yourself on what really went on
