Shed to home conversion… start to finish! We purchased a repossessed 16x60 storage shed and converted it into a beautiful minimal modern 2 bedroom, 2 bath home for our daughter and her family.

I don’t care what anyone says. I would rather spend my money building a home exactly how I want it. Some people say they could have bought a new home with the amount of money they spent on this but it wouldn’t have been exactly what they wanted. This came out so beautiful. It was definitely well worth it.

For the right person in the right position this came out beautiful! I would love to know what the cost of the building was since it was a repo. I am trying like crazy to get my nephew to do pretty much this same thing, only put it on a crawl space. It would be more cost, but again I bet this was highly discounted being a repo. I have been building for more than 30 years and he knows HVAC and plumbing. I did a lot of masonry work, so I could build the crawl space too. The kid even has most of the money. Maybe I am not kicking hard enough! lol

Having helped frame a house the structural support is exactly what you get in a built on site house. That is what is imporant. Interior walls are nothing but partitions.

Probably the prettiest shed to home conversion that I've seen thus far. I didn't know they actually make sheds that long and have no idea why anyone would need to have that much shed space to begin with. Regardless, awesome job on this.

You have done EVERYTHING RIGHT, from the insulation to the finishing, PERFECT! I admire your work on your home. I like the layout of the interior. The white counter tops are also very beautiful. The rest of the interior decor is not my style I couldn’t live in a white and black house. However, the differences in people’s tastes is what makes life interesting. If everyone liked the exact same things we would just be clones.

Where are the closet doors and the decks? Also, why paint the outside white? The blue was a beautiful color and a nice contrast to the scenery, now it blech. What kind of tie-downs did you use to keep the shed from blowing away in a tornado?

Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I appreciate your thoughts and opinions. Our daughter and SIL have a very simplistic style and prefer an open airy layout. It’s actually so so beautiful! We used hurricane straps that are anchored into the ground. If you’d like to watch the whole process in real time it’s within our “Flipping the Farm” vlog playlist here on my RU-vid channel. Do u think this was a better choice than a high end mobile home? I like the fact that family decisions had to be made at every step, but I would have researched and visited with some mobile home makers.

Hi! Unfortunately mobile homes are not permitted in our neighborhood. So a mobile home was not even an option. A barndo was considered but not in the budget. Thanks so much for watching!

How many feet off the ground did the building have to be for the plumbing to be done?

Basically just enough room for crawl space. Unfortunately because the ground was so unlevel the shed needed quite a few cinder blocks to get it all leveled up thus making it look pretty high off the ground on one end.

For 130k you could have bought a moble home triple wide. I know because my Gramps sold luxury double and triple wides . And anyone passing it would think it was a moble home.

You may be correct, but unfortunately, mobile homes… double wides, manufactured homes, etc. are not permitted in our neighborhood. The shed was totally acceptable though.

Hummm... are you talking about the decking that was used underneath the actual flooring that we laid? If so that was done by the shed manufacture... it's just 3/4" plywood/decking. I hope that answers your question.
