Thanks for the tour. Great set up you have, I really like the cold bucket of water outside thats a nice touch. I don't have a shed already so I may go the route of a barrel sauna

Thanks for watching! Barrel Saunas look amazing, it was one of my options when i was in the planning stage, however i did want a hang out area, which i couldnt achieve with the barrel. But i think they look super cool. Make sure you do some type of roof on it, I heard they can leak over time if not covered. Good luck, let me know how you like it! you should document it on youtube!

I love the hangout room! Have you thought about adding some vents in the hot room? I didn't see them in the video. I put a single top and bottom vent in mine, and when I added a 2nd top vent it made a huge difference. It really keeps the air flowing. Without them, I'm guessing CO levels could get high.
@UshankaFire
@UshankaFire Год назад
Thank you! The bottom vent is the space between the door and the floor. Which is about 2"-3" or so. It's perfect for airflow to keep the stove running. I have been considering adding a little vent up top to the outside. Just to add some fresh cool air. But haven't done so since traditional Slavic saunas don't have that. I would say I don't really have issues with CO. That Kuuma stove is a tank. Thanks for watching!

@@UshankaFire The Kuuma looks mint. One of goals is to upgrade to the Kuuma in 2023. Another thing I did with my stove was add a vent on the bottom near the stove that pulls fresh air directly from the outside. I have both a 3" gap under the door and then a vent down low. It is very cool to feel the stove pulling 15-degree air through in the winter.

@@AlexCookaacook Kuuma is a tank. So glad I bought it. It's now like double the price of what it used to be. Has nice airflow control. This summer hopefully I'll get a chance to work on the sauna. Do some upgrades. Strongly considering a little outside vent.

Love your sauna setup! I am too working on mine. Just covering the sauna walls with cedar. Pretty much the same layout. 12’x16’ building with a 8’x6’ sauna, 4’x6’ shower and 12’x9’ change room. I have my medium Kuuma in place as well. Heavy eh!!? Lol. Nearly died carrying it in with my dad lol. I put a IBC tub in my change room, bought a water chiller and in the spring I will try to make a cold plug setup. How’s that camplux water heater working for you? I’m looking at setting one up. I only ran 2 15A lines to my sauna so I’m not sure how much amp draw it will take.
@UshankaFire
@UshankaFire Год назад
Appreciate the kind words. Those stoves are heavy for sure. But I'm sure it's a lifetime type of stove . I was gonna buy a harvia at first, glad I didn't. The campflux is alright, you can take a few quick showers before it needs 5-10 min to warm up again. One thing to keep in mind; the water temp consistency will be off, since it's a small tank. So it will vary as your showering. If you have room I'd go with a little bigger one. The one I have draws like 1500 watts. So you should be fine with just a 15 amp breaker dedicated for that. They do make 220v ones as well. Do you live up north? You get freezing temps? One thing that took me a couple of years to figure out was how to keep water from freezing. After trial and error, I think I have a solid proven method now. If you are interested I can make a video on that.

@@UshankaFire Yes sir Ontario Canada. It’s been pretty mild this year but it’s around the 20’s F here now. Yes I was thinking of getting a 10Gallon and putting it in the rafters. The only issue for me is I went underground water but it’s not a gas or electric heated cabin so water unfortunately will have to be only on in the warmer months. I plan to air the lines out in the fall. And yes definitely a life time type of stove. How is that light handling the heat? I did the durock sheets like you did and tiled over it. Im thinking of placing some waterproof led light strips around the edge of the tile and run it to a outlet on the outside of the room. Then have trim covering but not touching the led lights to hide them and to get them to bounce light towards the corner of the stove wall. If you can picture that lol. I’m just not sure if the 200 plus temp with fry the lights.

@@Offworkbuilds Nice im right on Lake Erie, so we aren't too far away. I ran a pex water line from the house 4 feet underground. it comes into my sauna, and i have a shut off vavle at the bottom in tha sauna, about 2 feet of line coming through the ground into the sauna is wrapped with a heating element, that keeps it from freezing. When i'm done using the sauna i just shut off the valve and drain the lines with the shower valves. thats it. i never air hose anything out, and use the water all year long. The light i have in the sauna is just an exterior light, it's held up fine for 3 years now. so im happy with it. you would have to check with the manufacturer on the max temp rating for leds. you should make a video of your sauna when you are done, would like to see it.

How is the heat quality from the Kuuma? I have read a lot of complaints that they give off tons of radiant heat and that it can be harsh in saunas configured where you're sitting near the stove. I'd really like to give them my business because they're made in America and are obviously extremely high quality and durable, that's the only issue I've heard from them really.

I have ran my sauna for almost four years now. The kuuma stove has been the best money spent. I't hard for me to compare to anything else other than like an electric heater. But I would say everyone enjoys it. I think temp wise the sweet spot for us is between 200-210 F. I have heat shields. no complaints. love it.

Did u install horizontal bench 2x4 to the wall before installing tongue & groove or did you screw through the paneling into the studs?
@UshankaFire
@UshankaFire 7 месяцев назад
believe I screwed through the paneling, its been a while, holding up well though, had some heavy guys on it.

Im in the process of building. what's the best type of insulation to use? and the best material for the outside of the sauna? I was thinking mold resistant drywall. and maybe rock wool insulation for extra insulation(hotter sauna) what do you think?
@UshankaFire
@UshankaFire Год назад
Hi , thank you for watching, I used fiberglass inside the walls, and then i put aluminum reflective bubble wrap on the walls and ceiling inside the hotroom, all of the seams I used aluminum tape to cover them. The bubble wrap is a moisture barrier and it does a good job containing the heat. I did not use any drywall anywhere, everything is covered with wood panels. As far as the exterior it was just covered with hemlock boards, since its just a shed. Something like vinyl siding would probably last you longer. If you want me to make a more indepth video , i believe i have some footage from when i built it. this is the bubble wrap: www.lowes.com/pd/Reflectix-R-21-50-sq-ft-Unfaced-Reflective-Roll-Insulation-24-in-W-x-25-ft-L/3011904 I'm always excited to hear someone else is building a sauna, its awesome! Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for watching

Does your stove have any issues going thru the wall at 90 degrees, I have the same stove getting ready to install it. Debating weather I go thru the roof or out the wall, it recomends going out at 45 degrees. Just wondering what your experience has been. Thanks your sauna looks great

sorry, didn't reply earlier, i had same dilemma, i decided to go through the wall, no issues whats so ever, have been using it for 3 years, probably have at least 100 sessions on the clock. i went through the wall because i was afraid of going through metal roof and causing some leak.
