Never thought I would so thoroughly enjoy watching an old Korean man sew a leather jacket, but hell, here we are. I wish we still made quality things by hand here in the US, but I’m glad people are still doing this stuff elsewhere. There’s a reason these quality handmade leather goods cost what they cost. I just hope this man is being paid what he deserves to be paid for his knowledge, skill, and attention to detail. I used to work for a couple of old school upholsterers, and they definitely worked hard and earned their money. Always wanted to learn how to use those old Singer machines, and learn to make my own clothes, but never did. I guess there’s always tomorrow…
Honestly, it is such a privilege to be able to watch such skilled leatherworkers demonstrate their craft. I love watching things like this. Thanks for sharing.
I own a Korean made pilot's jacket (not the fur bomber type) of truly excellent craftsmanship. I haven't yet found a single defect on it and has been going strong for some twenty years without a single stitch coming loose. I give Korean stuff a 10 for most of what they produce.
It has been a dream of mine since a young boy to one day own an authentic sheepskin bomber jacket like this. What a privilege to watch these craftsmen work their magic here! I am assuming that is genuine sheepskin they are using but I just marvel at the consistency of the material! Even the leather they start with looks amazing!! Thank you so much for making and sharing this video.
I absolutely understand you! I love leather too. I had the same dream, now I own a similar leather jacket, being very happy for that. Watching the work with leather is fascinating, I admire very much how prople can turn simple animal hides into a beautiful jacket. What about you, have you bought such a sheepskin bomber or do you wear a common leather jacket at least?
@@lukasbejcek8841 I love leather too! This types of shearling leather jackets are highly expensive, and the weather in my country is quite hot even in the winter. Some remote parts have weather cold enough for this jackets but that's extremely rare. I've settled for a very nice and classically designed café racer leather jacket, with minimal sections, and made of lamb leather. It's good enough for me. Unfortunately i start to grow out of it and getting fatter 😅 i still dream of a shearling jacket...
@@SababaSwift Hi, I am glad to meet another leather lover! Thanks for sharing! It is a pity you can´t wear these jackets in your country. Yes, fur is quite warm 😕But a simple leather jacket can also be very elegant - and lamb leather is a guarantee of quality... And if you are getting fatter... you have to buy a new one! In fact, take it as a good reason for buying a new jacket 😀 I have had 3 leather jackets (and still being young!), the first one from my teen age was getting too tight, too - so it had to go away and was replaced! No problem! It is quite expensive but I never regret. I am a leather man, I try to us leather as much as possible. I even must have leather straps on my watches and I am having a watch strap from a real crocodile! I could not be a vegan...😉
A true master at his work. Decades of experience makes it look so easy. That’s when you know this individual has reach true master level craftsmanship. Thank you for the video.
_When my father was a young lad he bought an authentic leather jacket handmade by one of such fine leather craftsman more than 25 years ago_ *It is really warm, still is in good shape & not just a jacket it is my father's memory for me* 😔
Most people procrastinate because they're unsure. We overanalyze because we're unsure. Just do it anyway. Time costs lives, Most times it amazes me greatly the way I moved from an average lifestyle to earning over 63k per month, utter shock is the word. I have understood a lot in the past few years that there are lots of investment opportunities in the financial markets, The only thing is to know where to invest.
@Jessica Robert that won't bother you if you trade with a professional like Mr Tony Alin berker my coach, you may have come across him on a few interviews on bitcoin . He trades, manage trading account and offer mentorship program for clients who wish to become professional investors.
Wow I can't believe you guys are discussing about Mr Tony Alin berker, I once met him at a conference in California 2019, just before the pandemic. I can testify that is very good in trading..Highly recommended
@Jessica Robert Its 100% safe and legal , He’s an expert trader on stocks and crypto. I basically do nothing but collect profits, he was able to get me in early on most of these stocks and I exited just at the right time, his analysis was really on point.
They say "when you know, you know", and I agree 👍 💯. It's so pleasing watching these videos as experts nail their projects and make them seem so easy. Thank you for sharing. Blessings 🙌 from South Africa 🇿🇦.
I served with the US Army in Korea in 1987-88; I remember just how many tailor shops there were right out the main gate of Camp Casey. Also how uniformly excellent the quality of workmanship was. Don't be fooled by other imported goods; the Korean people have a long and rich tradition of craftsmanship in the fiber and sewing arts. I would happily wear one of these jackets and feel good about things.
Should have been there 10 yrs earlier, everything was shit. Great people, but when I was there they still had a ways to go. Most leather jackets were of dog hide and the thread they used for stitching would fall apart. Most clothing could not take the beating the laundry gave it. Women beating your clothing to death with a stick on a rock along the river.
1973-74 8th Army Base, it was all cheap stuff, the gas at the OK Coral gas station was 13 cents a gallon back then, even with the crunch back in the States it was still 13 cents a gallon. Hamburgers were 10 cents and the base theatre cost 25 cents. I can still hear Jimi on the radio sitting poolside at the rec area. The OK Coral gas station was on the E Tae Won side of the base. I'm sure the clothing is tip top these days and the gas,,,, it sure as hell ain't 13 cents a gallon anymore!
My grandfather was a fighter pilot during world war 2. He was given a sheepskin jacket like this by the airforce. He kept it after the war and used it until he passed in 1991. I have his jacket. Had it restored by a skilled craftsman like this guy. I don't use it because I don't want to ruin it. I save it for my son.
That is peak craftsmanship there, I would not mind paying a premium for something of such high quality and done with such care and attention to detail, mad respect for those who have the dedication, knowledge and passion for keeping up doing such handwork, even in modern times, when everything tends to be disposable
So efficient… it's hard to imagine the person that made those templates that he relies on so much, had an easy time making them… though it wouldn't surprise me too much, if he had? Not after watching this gentleman here work. Very skilled. If it wasn't for the machine… you would never know he was there. Thank you, for sharing.
These guys are truly masters of their trade! It must be some super strong thread because most everything is single stitched. I also noticed all single stitching on the crocodile leather jacket as well.
This is really cool, i didn't think that jackets like these were still made! My family tried to give me one much like this as they had a military history in the Airforce, though it was really old and couldn't be refurbished in the state it was in.. I might consider buying one of these for memories sake, again really cool!
I used to have one of those ca. 1988-1996 and grew out of it. The best cold weather jacket I've ever had. It continued it's life on my friend and after him, his child and was still looking nice 2-3 years ago when I last saw it.

That dude plays that sewing machine like a prodigy plays a Stradivarius violin. I don't know what they charge for that jacket, but it's worth it. That is some master-level craftmanship!
That's the sign of a pro. Every movement is exact and with a purpose. He is fast but he doesn't look like he hurries just like a champion golfer makes it look easy. It isn't as I'm sure you know.

I've had a sheepskin jacket for 9 years now and it's the best jacket I've ever had. It's an investment in my eyes, because it just feels great every single time. The best thing in my eyes is how well it protects against windchill in the winter. I have softshell jacket too, but I choose the sheepskin jacket every time I can use it over a softshell jacket just because it feels so much better.
