Sorry you lost your father my friend. Its amazing how somebody can just stand there with a camera and capture the look and feel without any sound needed. Imagine doing this now with a handheld, people would be very dubious about you doing it. Im glad your Father did this, and thanks for converting it to RU-vid. I am guessing this film is in two parts, the begining around `77 then moving onto around `83.
I really enjoyed this clip. I moved into my first house on Owlthorpe when I got married and then Fox Lane. So I have got some good memories around this part of Sheffield. Many thanks for sharing this film.

Definitely post 1980. At 0:10 there's a shot looking down The Moor towards Moorfoot where you can see the former Manpower Commission building - now owned by the DWP. That was built in late 1979-1981. I was on that site when they built it. I left Sheffield in Aug 1980 and it was still a shell. From the shot it looks like the building is finished.
@donkeywarmer Thanks, I wasn't sure of the date. I think my father got his first video camera around '82, So you are probably bang on. I can't ask my father, he passed away 3 weeks ago, That is why I am converting his movies.
I remember getting off the last bus from my terminus at 7PM and exiting on the Moor before it was pedestianised. It would be Xmas Eve late seventies and there were people in sleeping bags waiting outside Atkinsons for the sale which began on Boxing day! Proper buses with regular times and cheap fares.Proper roads which you could drive both ways on and proper sales!
Some of the shots of hackenthorpe are from the late 80s. There used to be a lovely farm with cattle on the right of the shot down Sheffield road before the crappy housing estate was built.
