Another great explore Matt, Sheffield did not disappoint, Good to see you in my home town (could have called in for a coffee I'm not too far away from here) ;-) That building on the front is where the office was for a company I used to work for back in the mid 90's.That grinding wheel @ 36:00 was used for sharpening knives/blades as Sheffield was known for their cutlery and other manufacturing industry over 100+ years. The belt driven equipment was used for stamping out the blanks.@44:53 you can see the remains of the stamped out sheet left over after it was stamped out. That building at the back near the river to the right @1:14:15 was renovated by Gleesons who I used to work for back in the late 1990's I was on that site many times repairing plant equipment .They used to make cutlery in that building I still have a blank spoon I found when on site in my tool box.
This was the old Spencer Clark’s rolling mill I worked as a welder in the 70s there .the blacksmiths shop was across the road in the other building as was my welding shop
What a HUGE old bunch of buildings! Five floors up and one down, the old shoemaker's section was great! Lots and lots of storage boxes in that end. Thanks for the tour, Matt.
Hi Matt, what a brilliant explor. Some of those buildings have to be saved, and the blacksmith machines. It's just like stepping back in time, seeing all that old history and amazing architecture. I just love it. You wouldn't find a meny abandoned building like this place. It's a great video. Thanks for sharing 👍 .
What a fantastic place once you get through the 90s cheap arse flats and the dump.. Some of those upstairs rooms makes you want to tie a board across your arse to save going through the floor. Send your mate across the dodgey floors first. LOL You may get a good shot of him going through. Awesome explore Matt. Those old brick buildings would have looked quite flash when they were new.
You forgot to tell Lozenge about the super secret tunnel housing the hand cranked bellows whilst in the forging shop Matt! LOL..The beautiful Victorian carpentry work was my favorite and your glee at it's discovery made me smile... Living in the States I find it amazing that conditions exist in England for the survival of such places. And I'm very glad for it, BTW. Thanks so much for sharing!
My home city! impressive find so serene and peaceful, the Victorian buildings are like something out of a Dickensian novel i could imagine someone sitting in that room with all the cupboards with a quill and a candle scratching away while the hammers in the forge clatter away. Perfect.
Excellent video as always. Can't believe that none of you noticed in the 'pulley room' the waste punching roll that would probably have been the last thing made on the machine. Looked like forks or cutlery. To the right of the second machine what looks like a roll/belt. Take a look again at 45min 46 and 51.43 you can see the roll/belt with the bits punched out.
Hi Matt, I believe that the printer is for punch cards. An absolutely beautiful find that whole factory, and I can't think of anyone better to give it a look. Brilliant !!!
Greetings, Matt. Absolutely great episode. Yes, gobsmacking Victorian section. ... and those arcade machines. It's surprising they haven't been rescued yet. ... Hope you and Angel keep well.
Has to be the best explore by anyone for ages. Such a cool place. Sad to see it in such a state but no doubt a developer waiting for it to collapse, even if listed they probably have no requirement to keep it in good repair. Had real Dickensian vibes and could be renovated into an amazing place. Nice one Matt. Andy UK
Brilliant watch, especially once you got into the shoe factory. So many different aspects to it, the huge area's of wooden shelving were my favourite. Your discovery of the machinery and description of it was classic vault. A real return to form, thanks for your efforts 👍.
pretty sure the basement with the Air system was an Air raid shelter, Sheffield got hammered in WW2. the machines were for stamping blanks out of sheet metal not pounding molten metal, there is a strip of the material with the shapes clearly shown on the machine bed, it is most probably a tool or cutlery manufacturing site Sheffield had hundreds
Man I've been waiting for a explore!! Thank you! Honest opinion I'm watching RU-vid on big TV hd. After you fixed the Samsung format to 4k it looked way better picture quality and vibrant compared to the dji. Even when dji was 4k 60 the Samsung spanked it💯
How many discoveries..I m always astonished by how great is your (video)content with, what is apparently uninteresting for those who left their buildings…
wonder if that "dot matrix" is really a "Telex" machine - it was possible back in the day to have a two way text conversation (way before mobile phones had txt). mind you - that print head had some range on it - very wide continous paper. maybe it was just for inventory lists etc...
Hi Matt If this site is on the corner of Dixon & Cornish St, then it is George Barnsley & Sons Cornish Works. They made good quality hand tools for the shoe and saddle trade. I still have a letter and sales catalogue from the time when I dealt with them. What a sad end.
Oh I wish I knew you were coming to Sheffield. We would have loved to meet you in person. You’ll have to let us know the next time you’re coming. If you’d like to meet us that is obviously lol. On another note, please be careful. Hope you didn’t get too much of a headache 🤕
Hot dame, you have a wonderful singing voice, Matt.🧡 So, did you happen apone any lost 'soles' floating around? That pocket 3 sucks balls. 86 it. No matter what you use to film Matt, your videos are always amazing.🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
great video matt loved this explore, thanks for sharing, that place was massive, and talk about someone capitalising and cashing in on finding somewhere big enough and out the way not to get caught. u bet theyve earned a pretty penny dumping all that lot wow..anyway brillaint video xx and my god what a death trap matt glad yr still alive xx
at 51:54 the machines are for stamping out shapes from metal if you look at what is at the side you can see what would have been stamped out there is a strip of metal with shapes in it .
JPM Cluedo, Monopoly, Brainbox, quiz machines. I have some of those in my 'museum' (shed) can anyone tell me if those machines are available for salvage?
You dont need more than 24fps with your camera because it employs motion blur making fps meaningless as we cant distinguish individual frames. . your camera is smoother at 24fpsthan 240fps so dont worry about it wiggle the camera fast, is it not smooth enough? yes it is! dont worry about more than 24fps with good cameras
Can't you just film in 1080p? That phone recording does not look as good and I think most people would be happy with 1080p anyway. Edit: Oh ok, for some reason 4K on the phone looks better than 1080p, even me watching with 1080p. No idea why that is though.
