Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, eldest son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, died aged 33 on Saturday September 19, 2015, of a heart attack. He was buried the same day in Bur Dubai's Umm Hurair cemetery, following funeral prayers at Zabeel Mosque at maghrib.
At the time, the Crown Prince of Dubai said “Today, I lost a best friend and a childhood companion, my dear brother Rashid. You will be missed.”

I did not know him, but something makes me feel like I did. It is tragic when one so full of life and promise of tomorrow leaves before we are ready to say goodbye. I did not know him, but I know what it feels like to say goodbye to my best friend in life. My heart goes out to Sheikh Hamdan and his family on the anniversary of Sheikh Rashid's death. My last words to my best friend, before we parted were, "until we meet again". May Allah (swt) reunite you in Jannah.
