Yes, Sufism has been there before Islam. They have their own way of worship so let's see what the Prophet ( peace be upon him) had to say. Narrated Anas bin Malik: A group of three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet asking how the Prophet worshipped (Allah), and when they were informed about that, they considered their worship insufficient and said, "Where are we from the Prophet as his past and future sins have been forgiven." Then one of them said, "I will offer the prayer throughout the night forever." The other said, "I will fast throughout the year and will not break my fast." The third said, "I will keep away from the women and will not marry forever." Allah's Apostle came to them and said, "Are you the same people who said so-and-so? By Allah, I am more submissive to Allah and more afraid of Him than you; yet I fast and break my fast, I do sleep and I also marry women. So he who does not follow my way in religion, is not from me (not one of my followers)." (Sahih Bukari Book #62, Hadith #1)

People are free to believe in what they want, even Allah Himself told this to the Prophet (Peace be Upon him) when He told him that he won't give hedayat to whom he loves, but it is He God who gives hedayat to whom He chooses. MIke Zandi Thank you for your informative and polite reply dear Mike. I am aware of these amazing truths about Nafs levels and the Prophet SAWs essraa and meiraj story. I agree with you. BUT that's the prophet's (SAWS) status. We don't know about Sheikh Nazim's status. Allah never said that He will send Prophet's representatives who have the same status as the Prophet's. I am sure that Sheikh Nazim was a good man because I have met two amazing disciples of his who are good. I have also met awful ones. I hate continuously stating that publicly, but I have had a horrific experience following Tariqa people in my country. An experience that could shake any one's core beliefs. My advice for people, especially women to only follow Prophet SAWs sunnah and teachings and to listen to videos from a distance without engaging with the people. Because it is full of very bad eggs and horrible irresponsible ambassadors of this tariqa, because I would hate for anyone to go through what I have experienced. God bless you Mike.

yasmin M, I like the womens Sufi Dhikr, it works for me. yes there were a couple of backstabbers in our group, also a few who inspired me to try harder and do more in the way of nafs JIhad. I took the view that all of them were mirrors shining my own reflection back. Sorry if you had a hard time, fortunately the path of the Mystic can be done solo. Just like birth and death.

Salaams, Shaykh Mehmet recently said how many were still being guided by Shaykh Nazim. By him showing up in their dreams.

sufism wasn't around during his time. You won't find a single authentic narration. These types of sufis in the video are extremists and misguided. The right way to follow is that of The Quran and Sunnah. Not Quran, Sunnah, Tariqa, etc this isn't Islam. Hope that clarified things

Sufism is not islam. Songs and rituals out of the sunnah of muhammad are not a part of islam.

@Larry Hagman I know a christian man who give charity and feed the homeless, he encourages others to do the same while at the same time he preaches christianity to them. Random people see the good in him and give from their wealth in charity and organise food stalls for the homeless. Abdullah Ibn Haarith says that he never saw anybody smile as much as the Prophet SAW. Now think to yourself whether the prophet SAW would have said the same words which you have spoken earlier regarding my beloved sheikh. My sheikh taught us to live in the way the prophet SAW lived, to smile and most importantly to be happy and content.
