I am Hakeem and people often insist on calling me Abdulhakeem instead. My usual reply is that the Prophet (SAW) had a companion named Hakeem (RA), and the Prophet (SAW) didn't change the name. Hakeem ibn Hazm was the nephew of the wife of the Prophet - Khadijah - the daughter of Khuwaylid - may Allah be pleased with her. Hakeem (RA) was very close to the Prophet (SAW) long before the beginning of the prophethood. The Prophet's (SAW) marriage to Hakeem's aunt only further cemented their friendship.

There's difference between "al hakeem" (adjective) and "Al Hakeem" ... Example: Someone says to his brother in faith "Ya akhi al kareem" ... that does not mean he called him AL Kareem (THE Generous/The generous One/the ultimately generous) but it means "my generouds brother"

My Son's Name Is Abdul Hakeem = Slave Of The Most Wise, Many People Amongst My Family & Friends Have Named Their Children Using Allah's Names, As Slaves/Servants Of Allah, Abdur Rahman = Slave Of The Most Merciful, Abdul Ahad = Slave Of The One & Only, Abdullah = Slave Of Allah, Abdur Raheem = Slave Of The Especially Merciful, Abdul Azeez = The Slave Of The Almighty, The Powerful, As Far As I Was Aware Based On My Limited Knowledge Of Islam I Thought To Name Your Child With One Of Allah's Names You Have To Put The Word Abd = Slave In Front Of Any Of Allah's Names So That You Are Not Trying To Imitate Allah Swt Nor His Attributes As It Could Be A Form Of Blasphemy, & Allah Swt Knows Best.

@MrSizzleDrizzle 2 месяца назад
This is partially correct. The word abd would have to be affixed to names that are specific to Allah alone like Al qudoos, al ahad etc. But there are names that are given to Allah swt and the creation too. Like raheem, ra’oof, baseer, samee, hakeem etc Allah swt called the prophet ﷺ ra’oof and raheem quran 9:128 And he called humans samee and baseer Quran 76:2

Justifying the wrong name is itself wrong. Any name of Allah can be used for a person, but adding the prefix AL is certainly an attribute of Allah Alone.

The names of Allah, insofar as they are applied only to Him - fall into two categories: 1. Names that only belong to Him, may He be glorified and exalted, and cannot be given to anyone but Him, such as the names Allah, al-Rabb (the Lord or Cherisher), al-Rahmaan (the Most Gracious), al-Ahad (the Unique), al-Samad (the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks), al-Mutakabbir (the Majestic), and so on. It is not permissible to call any human being by these names, according to scholarly consensus. 2. Names which do not apply only to Him, and which may be applied to human beings, so it is permissible to call people by them, such as Samee’ (hearing), Baseer (seeing), ‘Aliy (high, exalted), Hakeem (wise), Rasheed (wise). Some of the most well known Sahaabah were called by these names, such as ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib and Hakeem ibn Hizaam (may Allah be pleased with them). What is forbidden is only the names which apply only to the Lord, such as Allah and al-Rahmaan. It says in the commentary on Asna al-Mataalib Sharh Rawd al-Taalib (4/243), which is a Shaafa’i book: It is permissible to call people by those names of Allah which do not apply only to Him. As for those which apply only to Him, it is haraam (to call people by them). This was clearly stated by al-Nawawi in his commentary on Muslim. End quote. Some Hanafi fuqaha’ confirmed that when they said: Calling people by names of Allah which are found in the book of Allah, such as al-‘Aliy (high, exalted), al-Kabeer (great), al-Rasheed (wise), al-Badee’ (innovator or originator), is permissible, because they are names that may be shared by Allah and people, but their meaning when used for people is different from their meaning when used for Allah, may He be glorified and exalted. End quote. Islamqa

@@MuhammadAhmadchattha No, if you see something red in wikipedia it means there is not yet a page for that made. Besides that, names with Abd mean servant of. So for example one of the red names is Abdul Akbar meaning servant of Al Akbar which is obviously not a name of Allah.

Even if it was shirk, its a persons name. You can still call them it, the sin is on them. The prophet’s ﷺ grandfather was called abdul mutalib. Which is shirk as we cant be called the slave of anyone except Allah. Yet the prophet ﷺ still called him this. أَنَا النَّبِيُّ لاَ كَذِبْ، أَنَا ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبْ I am the Prophet, and there is no lie about it; I am the son of `Abdul Muttalib Bukhari 3042

You’ve literally come to the comments section and made something up completely Most ridiculous thing iv read all day. A mubtadi is someone who comes with an action in the religion that was never done before. Yusuf a.s was called al ‘azeez in the quran, Allah swt described the prophet muhammad ﷺ as ra’oof and raheem and so on. So how would this be a bidah exactly. The irony is, i was named one of these names as a child, and it was actually the sufis in the family who criticised and pressured my parents to change it Muslims are seekers of truth, stop making things up and do something beneficial lad

Nabi Yusuf (aleyhi salat wa salam) WAS GIVEN THAT NAME AS AN APPOINTMENT BY A KAFIR OR ALLAH ? The only reason why it was mentioned in the Quran because it was the truth and Allah is ALWAYS Saying the Truth... Was it Allah Who Addressed him three times "Al Aziz" ?... (Ya ayuh Al Aziz...).. or was it his brothers?... Was it Allah Who Gave it to him ?... Please expound.

@halventicanice6683 I don't know if you are a Muslim but if you are Assalaamu 'alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh I think there might be a confusion here: 1. The al-amin (الأمين) you mentioned here means "the Trustworthy" due to prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) 2. The name of Allah that I know of is Rabbil 'alameen رب العلمين Note that the alameen here starts why the letter ain/ayn (ع) and the word means all of creation/that exists If I missed of misunderstood something, please let me know May Allah make this beneficial for us both
