Pl guide me. Is the patient sedated( unconscious) during surgery or he is aware . How much does it pain while it is being done.. Herniated disc is being cut and removed. ( during endoscopic Discectomy)
@brehbreh68plus18
@brehbreh68plus18 2 года назад
@@ssgmail3239 No pain due to proper anesthesia. I do believe that anesthesia needs to covered by insurance, but I could be wrong. Generally speaking, you would be unconscious for this type of surgery.

@@brehbreh68plus18 a doctor I consulted 2 years ago has done more than 12000 surgeries and he does it without putting patients down.. Even talks and makes them bear pain 😖😫 during the 30 mins process of endoscopic surgery. That is the reason.. I have been avoiding surgery under him though I know he is one of the best in India. Huh! The patients usually moan and all during process but later on every one says it was like a normal root canal process. I am hence searching for someone who can do it while I am unconscious. Still searching some Dr who has same set of skills but does it under sedated mode
@brehbreh68plus18
@brehbreh68plus18 2 года назад
@@ssgmail3239 I truly hope you find someone. That is unbelievable that he doesn’t sedate for this type of procedure. It is not like a root canal. Trust me, I’ve had I believe 2-3 of them, and my back surgery was much worse feeling afterwards than a root canal.

@@brehbreh68plus18 thx for taking time out.. I posted same question to 50 people.. Only you and one more person has replied .. Atleast now I know that their are processes where patients are unconscious during process. Thanks again

I am in the 3 weeks recovering... I can do some stuff but my doctor and my family would kill me if I return full power now. I still have numbness in my Botton, feet, misses, pain if I walk too much. This thing of fainting in the gym is real. The noise and pain of a slipped disc is drastic. Its impossible to forget that pain!

I can relate and I also heard same noise and pain twice. I guess those were the exact timings I had L4-L5 and L5-S1 disc protrusions. Still living with on-off conservative life with/without pain for last 3 years. Avoiding MISS ( Discectomy) as I met one freshly operated patient and he said it did hurt him a lot while herniated discs were being cut and removed. Huh! I wish I had not met him. My Dr has experience of more than 6000 surgeries but I don't know why he always does it with local anaesthesia and doesn't want to make patient unconscious during the process. What about your surgery?

I too am in a similar situation. Have you made the move for surgery? I had an injury 10 years ago in the gym and am still suffering to this day. It’s at its worst other than when it first happened. Haven’t had mri yet but I am sure it will reveal herniated or bulged disc. I can barely walk today.

Thanks Sheila to share your story. It encouraged me to chose surgery after no help from physical therapy and the injections. I had similar problem between L5 and S1 and got same procedure done. The leg pain was gone right after the surgery. I was able to walk a mile at day 2 like normal. I could do more, but I took easy to recovery. So far everything likes normal except some numbness in some of my toes. Did you have this problem? if so, how long does it take to recover?

Wow! This is a great and inspirational recovery story! I just had this procedure done on my left side...L5 S1 as well.... I’m in no way able to walk 2 miles and am nearing week 2 of recovery. Before the surgery I was also very active but incredibly limited in activities because my pain continued for over a year. I’m curious to know how long you lived in pain before going into surgery? Sounds like your herniation injury was severe very immediately, then handled shortly thereafter?
