Shelby J. also known as the ”Bald Beauty” in Prince’s band the New Power Generation, is a powerhouse vocalist from North Carolina. Her Soul, Funk, R&B, Jazz and Gospel influences are unmistakable. Audiences worldwide have described a Shelby performance as “a Lil Mavis Staples...with the ENERGY of James Brown and sprinkled with the storytelling of Carole King!” She has toured and recorded with Santana, Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo, Anthony Hamilton, Larry Graham, and Groove Theory. Shelby toured with her brother and mentor Prince nationally and internationally for 10 years, including, Super Bowl XLI and a record breaking 21 sold out shows at London’s O2 Arena.
