Amy is probably the most patient girlfriend ever! She doesn't get sex, she rarely gets hugs, she puts up with most of his weird shenanigans (Fun with Flags, anyone?) and in this episode she gives up Valentines day!
People do not realize that Sheldon is human being, his little details for Amy are as big as the details "normal" people have in their relationships. No matter what he does, it's gonna be special on his own way. But I gotta say the kiss their share this year is even more romantic and hotter that many things we usually do.
I agree. It might seem trivial and silly, but to Sheldon it shows how big a role Amy plays in his life. He would only turn to people he really trusted to be there for him. Sheldon has trust issues and this shows he has opened his heart to Amy even if he doesn't know how to express it yet. And I agree I think the sweet innocence of a first kiss is the sexiest thing ever!!!
"He’ll look at me and smile, I’ll understand" I think what I like most about this video is the way Amy looks like she’s about to cry from happiness, but that turns into a smile because it’s a moment when she fully realizes how much he truly cares about her. And I like to think that even though he may act inappropriately on occasion, Amy is reminded of these moments to remember why he’s the best boyfriend. He’s the first person to understand her and accept her. He was her first true friend, then first true boyfriend. Prior to their first meeting, she never realized how alone she was until years later when she tried to imagine a life without him (The Cooper Extraction). So not only does this smile represent the love that she has for him, but a bond with another person that she always wanted. :)
We know that Amy finds Sheldon brilliant and sexy, but this is the first real serious act of love that we've seen! As Amy unfolds the paper Sheldon is really smiling. Have you noticed that he smiles more and more at Amy as their relationship develops? Jim and Mayim are so great at building the subtleties of Sheldon and Amy's growing romance. I would love to think that after receiving the most thoughtful gift ever, Sheldon gave Amy the brain illustration at the end of the evening!
She sat on the couch in his spot, then scooted over and gave him room, and he came to her. That's symbolic of what happened between them in this episode.
After watching the first minute of this clip, who can say, honestly, that they wouldn't want a partner like Amy? She loves her man so much that she will willingly forego her own wants and do whatever he wants - even though she doesn't really enjoy it. She is there for him (almost) unconditionally.
I'm a girl who actually likes nerdy or I prefer to use word "intelligent" guys, cause I'm huuuuuge star wars fan and I'd love to spend valentine's day by watching star wars with my boyfriend or girlfriend, ordering chinese food, having few beers maybe and so on. And maybe play some video games together. This is my "Valentines Day" dream. Oh well. This was just cute.
Yes i have noticed. Jim and Mayim both deserve more acting awards for the parts they play they make them so brilliant and nuanced. I bet Sheldon at least gave her that harp and map of Canterbury tales since Alex had already bought them for her, but nothing will mean more to Amy then that emergency contact gift except maybe if and when Sheldon finally decides to kiss her first. Then I think all our little Shamy hearts will explode lol
This scene is so sweet! I hate it when people say that Amy pushes Sheldon into things that he doesn't want to do, and that she is selfish, because this is not the case and this clip justifies that. It would be so easy for Amy to have continued with her origonal plans, had a romantic day just like she wanted and not care what Sheldon thought, but instead she chose to give up all of it so that Sheldon could be happy, even if it meant watching a program all evening that she found tedious.
Its also really beautiful that Sheldon didn't mind that Amy sat down on and patted his beloved SPOT @1:00. I can't wait for day when whole gang is sitting around eating take out and Amy sits in Sheldon's spot again and they all say "NO! You can't do that Amy! That's Sheldon's SPOT!" especially Leonard will say it and then Sheldon says "Leave her alone, its okay she's my girlfriend." and Penny likely spit up all her food and hit Leonard again cause she be in total shock and so will he lol
This was so perfect I almost cried! SHAMY RULES!! I like them now so much better than Leonard and Penny. Amy was only girlfriend/wife on the show that actually saw V-day as chance to do something nice for the guy as well as Sheldon doing something sweet for his girlfriend too instead of it always being the man's responsiblity to be romantic and considerate. Love them so much. I only wish Sheldon and Amy had kissed at the end that would have put an exclamation point on this brillant scene.
He trusts her enough to have her to speak for him when he's unable to do so for himself. Now that's love. So is what she did by cancelling those plans she was going to drag him to. Something to keep in mind folks. Love is not about taking, it's about giving.
Yes, but Sheldon didn't know Amy back then now he's in a relationship with her so her gift must feel extra sweet and thoughtful because it shows how much Amy understands him and how much he likes to stay home and watch Star Trek. Penny didn't realize just how much Sheldon would like that napkin, but Amy knew Sheldon would love her gift so that makes it more "thoughtful.".
He sooooo belongs to Amy. He is letting her in and so,...a symbiotic relationship can develop. They will eventually function as one organism. (kind of like the BORG but with hand holding)
I noticed Amy's familiar moan while she's hugging Sheldon. It's funny to think that she's been so repressed that even an un-reciprocated hug can turn her on.
I love that he says "This is the best gift that anyone has ever given me". That must also include the napkin signed by Leonard Nimoy from Penny. :) Made my day.

why everyone just keep talking about how thoughtful amy is. i was instead stunned by what sheldon has done! having amy as his emergency contact!!! that's unusual for sheldon!! he has taken one big step~~
I'll admit, that when they first introduced Amy I was angry at them for trying to create a female Sheldon. Mayim turned me (and many others I'll wager) into a big Shamy fan. I love the way these characters are being developed at the hands of the writers (surprised) and the actors (they put so much into their work). It would be great if those other gifts showed up in later episodes! Haven't seen a girls night in a while so hope one is coming soon. We learn so much for those scenes.
I have a gf but she can never let go of a Valentines dinner or making that day special and do what Amy did even if it was her first Valentines day with a bf.. Dont know if that kind of girl exists in the real world..
