I will be posting tutorials on making quilt blocks, many of which will be for Nickel Quilts. Nickel Quilts are quilt that can be made using 5" squares of fabric. Perfect for charm packs, layer cakes, fat quarters, and of course stash fabrics!

Thank you for sharing. I use shelf liner under my foot pedal to keep it from traveling. I will do this from now on. Also, you can get shelf liner at the Dollar Tree for $1.25. Thanks again.

This is the best hint I've found. The shelf liner is also a great jar opener; my husband holds the jar and I use the shelf liner to grip the lid.

What a great idea. I use that stuff in my kitchen and I have a small piece that I use under my machine when I go to quilt group. But I never thought about using it under my rulers. Thank you for making my life easier.

Try using a square of shelf liner to move around your sandwich when free-motion quilting. More liberating than quilters' gloves.

WOW! This has got to be one of the best money-saving tips for making quilts that I've ever found. Just wish I'd seen it sooner and not bought all those expensive packages of TrueCut ruler grip circles - YIKES! This could put them (TC) and CG rulers out of business! Well, probably not, but I won't be tempted to buy their products just to have grippy rulers anymore. I can't believe this is the first time of heard of this simple and economical way to keep my rulers from sliding. Thank you Pat, for showing us this outstanding video explaining the variety of ways shelf lining can be used with our rulers when cutting fabric.

Thank you! I've used it for a lot of different situations, but never thought about using it on my rulers. Especially the long metal ones in my collection. (I also have a woodworking shop.)
