Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger is a equipment used in heat transfer operation. Shell and tube heat exchanger consists shell (a large vessel) with a bundle of tubes inside it. In Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger (HX), Two fluids, of different starting temperatures, flow through this heat exchanger.
In Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger, Shell is the container for the shell fluid and the tube bundle is placed inside the shell and Shell diameter should be selected in such a way to give a close fit of the tube bundle.
In heat transfer operations, The most efficient condition for heat transfer is to have the maximum number of tubes in the shell to increase turbulence. Heat exchangers are widely used in thermal power stations, oil and gas industry, sugar industry, water, and wastewater treatment industry, metal and plastic industries, etc.
