The nation went through this creative dip artistically after the 60s, where younger people didn't like musicals. I always loved them. If Popeye was re-released today, it would most likely make big profits, on top of recouping losses from when it was released.
What makes you people think she didn’t like being alive that you are so glad and thankful she’s dead? So we have to die to be at peace and painless. Is that what we’re supposed to tell our children? That they’re better off dead?
@@alexl1251life is about suffering, just reality. My dad has alzheimers just like his sister and mom did. He refuses to get out of bed and spends over 23 hours a day in bed doing nothing.
I'm glad that the husband and wife couple who run the Grimm Life Collective channel were able to work with Shelley and give us that interview with her. They treated her with so much respect, dignity, and kindness. Her mental health had obviously significantly improved by that point, and it's great that she was able to do some more acting in the last year or so of her life. RIP, Shelley.
@@CatsCoffee-o6swhy come here and be negative when this is a video meant to mourn the dead. They gave her a voice towards the end of her life. Who’s the disrespectful one now.
God bless all the young people at GrimmLifeCollective who lifted Shelley Duvall out of obscurity in her final years and put her in that indie movie and let her know she was loved. 🥀
They forgot to mention *Faerie Tale Theatre (also known as Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre)* She is the one that conceived the series!!! She was an amazing contributor to the arts especially theater. As a child I loved her series!!! She is part of my childhood. Thank You Shelley Duvall for your talent and contribution to all children and families and for giving the world your artistic vision. 🌟💖🎭✨💐🌹🌷🌼🌻
Yea that is a classic, I have that on VHS, + DVD and is repeating on UK TV as well at the mo-where you from?? TBF-the box that was being signed was Faerie Tale Theatre! I also really liked her other hit series: anthology stuff: Tall Tales & Legends, Nightmare Classics, + Shelley Duvall's Bedtime Stories!
@@mikekaraoke Im from USA/Mex, I used to check out all the VHS tapes at my local library over and over again. I was addicted to the stories and what I didn't know as I got older that she told them in a more authentic way true to the novels. I didn't even see that was a Faerie Tale theater box! LOL good eye! I think I did see the tall tales series but I don't think I ever saw all of them. Shelley was def a great talent! I just remembered UK is the birthplace of theater if I'm not mistaken, I actually visited UK a while back and tried to see Shakespeare's home where he was born and also died, but sadly I wasn't able to get to visit due to the time crunch of fitting all the touring I was doing in the UK it was great.
@@1988vikable Why did you put USA/Mexico-you live in both places go back and forth?? Yeah, she really did make it as true as the novels which was brilliant! How did you not see that, she had it in her hands a few times and then had it on her lap and when she signed it as well lol Yeah your right-GB is the birthplace for theatre-that is a shame you didn't get to see any Shakespeare as you had no time! Where in UK did you visit and what did sightseeing did you do??
Oh wow. Sad to see this. After the Phil fiasco of exploitation, a journalist reached out to meet with her and was met by the whole small community she lived in. Glad she had people around who cared and protected her.
Acting should be fun and Shelley gave us so much. She was still the same person inside despite being unrecognizable in her later years. Yes Shelley, you were a star then and now. RIP Legend 💖🙏🌄🌈🤗🌹
🌹Oh no, I feel so sad about what happened to her since 2002, how much she changed. No matter what, Shelley Duvall, you made an indelible mark in life, cinema, and all our memory. 🌹
@@Annabellethedoll666I don't know what exactly happened in 2002 that made her finally get away from Hollywood but it's pretty well documented that the director of the Shining practically mentally tortured this poor woman on set all for the sake of making her fear and distress seem more "real" for the camera. Seriously if you don't know the story I'd highly recommend looking into it because it explains a lot about why her mental health issues came about
The girl at the end with the green hair is from The Grimm Collective and that episode where they visit Shelley Duval at her home was very touching! I'd recommend people look that episode up.
No!!!! not Shelley! She was so sweet. I'm going to watch that new movie she's in. She's magic. RIH Sweet Shelley Duvall. You played Olive Oil like no one else could of.
Oh man. I watched her 2023 interview a month ago. She was so sweet and humble. One of a handful of interviews that made me tear up. Very sad to know that she's passed on.
When I was 7-years-old in the early ‘80’s, I fell in love with Shelley as an actress in the film Popeye as Olive Oyl. I’m sorry that people called Shelley Olive, but Shelley was tall and skinny, but she wasn’t ugly. In fact, Shelley looked so beautiful as Olive Oyl. I’m crying right now, because another acting idol and someone who made my childhood in the early ‘80’s happy is gone, yet never forgotten. Thank you Miss Shelley for making me smile and just entertain me via your movies I saw. It breaks my heart that I will never get a chance to see her in person, much less meet her, and get a chance to perform with her on a movie and TV show set. I’m starting to do acting videos on my You Tube channel, because I miss acting so much. I haven’t done acting since my high school drama days. I’ll carry on Shelley’s acting legacy on my You Tube channel. RIP Shelley 😘😪🙏🏼
Mental illness robs many women of longer lives. I believe, for many women entering menopause, hormone levels, lack of sleep, hot flushes, stress, anxiety and no partner to rely on for assistance and no mental health care leads to an early demise. It was obvious Ms. Duval was suffering from mental illness and appeared to be alone. May she rest easy now!
@brooke9225 Even worse. It appears even her spouse couldn't help her. I know she died of diabetes complications but, it was obvious she suffered mental illness and I think hormonal imbalance due to menopause affects women more than we understand it does!
@@vallejoborncalihasbecomeal9022 as a woman please be quiet . Menopause didn't do this to her she was 75 so she would have been passed menopause. It doesn't make you go crazy you tool. Yes she died of complications due to diabetes. She did have a history of mental health issues which started after working on the shining..the director tortured her and she by her own admission had to go into therapy after working on the film and slowly moved away from acting as a result..she's not been in the public eye for decades now so we don't know everything about her mental state at the time of death. But my God do not talk about menopause and blame that on her well being and part of why she died. You sound ridiculous
Every single problem you stated here is absolutely correct! I am so sorry that Shelly had mental illness and that the community in which she lived cared so much about her. I'm glad Hollywood remembers and celebrated such an established actress. RIP Shelly Duvall❤
My friend went thru a bad menopause. She was absolutely crazy. Drs said she was bipolar and put her on a ton of meds She got worse. One day she was listening to a show about menopause and how women get misdiagnosed. She went to an endocrinologist and was put on hormonal replacement and within 4 months she was like nothing had ever happened. Some ppl go thru it really bad. No sleep sweats fits of rage while others have very little systems or none at all
I remember her from the Fairy Tale Theater. When I was a little girl, we didn’t read fairy tales at home and very little at school. So these VHS tapes were truly enchanting to me. I loved them because of her! Now that I’m a mother, fairy tales are an important part of my family’s home school. We read from The Brothers Grimm, and Hans Christian Andersen, East O The Sun, West O The Moon, and Arabian Nights. Shelley is a big part of the reason my children are blessed with fairy tales.
Big shout out to GrimmLifeCollective for putting fans in touch with her before it was too late. It was really nice to see her in that light after hearing about what a reclusive weirdo she became (Mainstream medias portrayal, not mine). It was less of an interview and more like a drop in and chat, just to see how you're doing. To any fans of her work, I highly suggest checking out that vid. It's a good way to remember her, the real Shelly.
i first saw Shelley Duval in Faerie Tale Theatre as a child. Later i realized she was also in the Shining but was probably too violent for my age at the time, i did see the Shining when was a bit older. RIP 💖💖
Her performance in the shining was probably the best acting I’ve ever seen on film. She was astoundingly believable and yet I know she suffered playing it, but she was an amazing actress. How she didn’t get an Oscar is insane. R.I.P Shelley
MAY SHE RIP. she was a gentle soul and she never changed she always stayed true at heart. You will be missed. A forever legend and icon. RIP MS SHELLY DUVAL. ❤
She was nominated for a worst actress Razzle for the Shining and panned by many reviewers at the time. I think the years were extremely kind to the film and her performance in particular. People finally realized how good Shelly and Danny were in the film and how important their contributions were.
She SHOULD be remembered for her acting skills, But her human soul and attributes are even more important. She was such a kind, sweet person and THAT is even more.
Oh my god! What a sweet woman. This is unsettling. She was captivating on the BIG SCREEN! The shining was played in a theatre in Canton, Ohio last October, and it was like we were all transported back to those moments..(Wendy). "Hello, I'm Shelley Duvall." I'm so sad to see all of my favorite film actors leave this world. I know it's time though. We love you, Shelley Duvall. ❤
Her last Interview broke my heart. Without knowing her anyone could tell what a sweethearted, humble and genuine Person she was. A wonderful human being left us. R.i.P Shelley
Shelley was a kind, beautiful, & greatly talented woman!! She gave us so much to treasure forever!! We will always love & miss her, & never forget her!! The greatest of thanks always to Shelley for all that she did for us!! It's so sad that Shelley is gone!! But, her great memory will always live on!! RIP Shelley Duvall!! & May you always shine in Heaven!!❤❤❤❤😢❤❤❤❤
Shelley really is loved. She's is my favorite fairy tale teller of all time and brought so many sweet memories to millions of children in the 1980s with the beautiful gift she gave us called "Fairie Tale Theatre". I remember watching all of them over and over again with my sister - Rumplestiltsken, The Dancing Princesses, Rapunzel, The Princess and the Pea. What a gentle soul. Thank you for sharing your talent with us and may you rest in the sweetest peace, Shelley ❤
She always seemed like such a kind soul....I hope she was either surrounded by friends or was comfortable in her seclusion...whatever made her feel safest.
She was such a sweetie. She produced and hosted an excellent television series in the early 80s, "Faerie Tale Theatre" from 82'-87'. Recommended. They did a really good live action episode of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". 👌🤙
I'm glad that she came out of retirement to act in a film that'll be released later this year. She loved to act but retired for over two decades, then came back. RIP Shelley Duvall.
Thank you for the memories Shelly that you gave to us over the years, you will never be forgotten, thank you for her life father God , Your day is done you rest now angel 😇🙏🏻
I'm 50, so I will remember her more for being Olive Oyl, than being in "The Shining." It was a shame how she was treated on the set of "The Shining," because Kubrick considered mental and emotional abuse as "art." The Grimm Life Collective did an outstanding interview with her, a great tribute to Shelley and her body of work. I recommend watching that YT video. RIP Shelley! You will be missed!
Man, sure, sad she's gone. We siblings all grew up watching these Grimm's Fairy Tales movies with fanouse celebrities. That whole series was Shelley's peoject. We just love those movies and her short speech at the beginning of each one. RIP Shelley, know youve left us your work to keep you alive 🙏💕
It's Jessica from Grim Life Collective with her neon hair! I'm so glad they had such a nice interview with Ms. Shelley before she passed. Rest with the angels, you gave us many wonderful memories Shelley Duvall.
She was beloved by millions, she brought joy into so many homes with "Faerie Tale Theatre" but also embodied terror in The Shining that I have not seen replicated as well ever since. It is genuinely upsetting to me to see that bright eyed person from the 80s interview knowing how much she would struggle in her life. I hope she is at peace now.
