Shelsley Walsh Driving School, July 2023. Pembleton Supersport Moto Guzzi Lemans 1000. Runs 7, 8 and 9. Camera battery died for the final run (10) which was obviously my best run.
Brilliant day out and highly recommended. Shelsley is the spiritual home of the Pembleton Motor Company who are based in Bayton approximately 5 miles away.

Perhaps not fantastically quick but what absolutely wonderful cars those Pembletons are.

Much prefer the Pembleton to the modern Morgan - seems a more authentic recreation of the original 1920s concept, also lighter and more imaginatively designed and engineered.

But they are not cheap from what Ive read. We dont have any citroen 2cvs here in NZ so not an option unfortunately... I like the 4 wheeled pemb and the fact you can use a flat twin BMW engine too. Looks like real fun.

Have you driven one?

@@berrybrookmorgan3482 No. I was comparing only the design, specification, and appearance.

Fantastic, I've subscribed and hope too see more Pembleton footage, either driving or working on it. It does sound like the clutch is slipping quite badly here so either out of adjustment, or worn, or contaminated. Still looks like a lot of fun though.

Clutch is not slipping .The car is front wheel drive so in the corners the inside unloads and the wheel is spinning up.

to me it sounds like the clutch is slipping a bit; great to see it tho particularly against the boring other 'super cars'.

Thanks Baba - you may be right and I thought the same. The hill is very steep so if the clutch was going to struggle it would be here. Haven't driven the car since but will investigate this weekend. The car is new to me and I'm planning some gearbox work anyway so not the end of the world if the clutch needs sorting.

Awesome!! When did you build or buy the pembleton? I am building a 1928 Morgan RIP GN special with an MGB rear differential and an experimental opposed twin aircraft engine in the front. I hope to have my replica finished in a month or so. BTW I am in the States..

That sounds amazing John - I'd love to see pix or a video of that car. Very Davenport-esque and certainly ideal for Shelsey Walsh. For info - I bought my car exactly 4 weeks before taking it up the hill and had driven it twice before. I'll be faster next time!

@@tripyg2 I am getting all the parts together still. I am going to start my channel with the build of this car. I sourced the opposed twin but it needs rebuilt. I found an MGB transmission but it is completely locked up. I have to find a Hilton's manual so That I can figure out what is wrong. I just bought an MGB engine and transmission but I do not want to separate it . I want to use it for the next build. I just bought an MGB rear differential with beautiful wire wheels from a guy who is putting a 302 in his MGB. I am building a metal foundry so I can melt aluminum and cast a two piece adapter for the output shaft on the motor to mate it to the MGB flywheel so I can use the MGB clutch and it can be one unit. I sourced aircraft cloth that I am going to use for the outer skin of the car. you can see the original car if you type in 1928 Morgan RIP GN special race car I believe. I do not know what I am going to call my channel and I could use some ideas. Type in meet the killer Morgan with 4 wheels. That is the video that explains the the development of the car kind of...

Don't know why they chose the 850cc when there is 1200cc or 1400cc engines available from moto guzzi 🤔

My car is an old build Ced - put together in 2010 so well before the PMC started to build the current cars. Mine uses a Guzzi Lemans 1000cc engine - which is actually a 948cc hotted up Lemans Mk I/II/III 850cc big block engine. The current PMC cars use the latest development of the Guzzi "small block" engine - either 750cc or 850cc. The small block engines are significantly lighter than the big block engines which is why PMC use them. Certainly fast enough.
