I have an adult special needs child and I’ve worked with him for years and he wants to work. Due to his diagnosis no place would hire him without a job coach. He’s been signed up for vocational rehab and I have done all I can but he is still wait listed. His worked became upset with me thinking I was trying to get rid of him and I was shocked, as that idea never crossed my mind. She then shared she is responsible for over 750 adults like him whose family is actively throwing them away. It scares me as I’m now battling stage IV cancer and I see how cruel this world is and even with his special needs he has a heart of gold and would help anyone. I’m praying for these people I wish I could do more.

I bought her some snacks from the Lowe’s checkout and wished her the best. Her baby ate the granola bar right in front of me. She said after the film she had a baby and then the one she had that day was her second. She wasn’t as spirited as she was in the film. I can’t imagine life had been easy on her. She also had some blond braids in her hair.

Mental health is one of the hardest problems in the modern world. The illness comes without warning but the worse part is the relapse. Once it comes back, it hits you ten times harder. Almost from getting wacked with a bat to escalating to getting smashed by a truck. It's a hard battle for both the facilitators and the clients. You may get the best in the profession but it all depends on timing. Some may recover but some will never will. It's harsh but I've seen enough in my life to see it going on from bad to worse.
@LOCKEDLOADED100

Mental health is indeed real. I have lost my mom and two uncle's to suicide. I have watched wonderful people in my life spiral downhill. This world is a very confusing place to live on. Filled with hatred and divide. It's hard not to lose hope in a world that has become so dark. My heart breaks for these lost souls on this documentary. They are simply ignored by society. Treated like trash by many that don't understand. But these lost souls hold more love in their hearts. Than many people could ever fathom. Our world is always quick to turn their backs on people that are simply lost.....................

@StandedInUtah
@StandedInUtah 5 лет назад
young I agree her parents failed. The schools failed her when she was supposed to be learning to read in elementary school. My guess is she has some sort of undiagnosed learn disability and she was never tested by the school. If they don't test a kid they don't have to give the kid special ed services. Her parents failed by not noticing she couldn't read and not insisting on the school teaching her. Yes, I know parents can teach their kids to read. Both of mine could read before kindergarten. However, I also know not all parents are willing or able to do that.

The lack of compassion other people have for homeless folks, especially young people kills me. I try my best to do something kind when I cross paths with them, give them something to eat, some money if I have it on me, or just acknowledging their presence. People look at them like they’re the plague, as if most of us are not closer to being homeless than we are to being millionaires. These houses are saving these kids’ lives.

Fast forward to today, I’m no longer homeless, my rent is paid up for a year, I have a BMW X6 that I paid all cash for at the dealership and my life is way better. I’m blessed. And if you’re reading this and going through a similar situation… I just wanna say keep going and never give up! There’s definitely light at the end of the tunnel. Love you

I don't think that people complain about/try to evade paying their taxes because of THIS, or anything that is CLEARLY NECESSARY LIKE this. They complain because the PERCENTAGE they pay does NOT compare to those that the rich pay, overall, which makes it so that the middling people, who are scrapping paycheck to paycheck and who rely on being able to make minimum credit card (the DEVIL) payments AND steady jobs (what's that?) to keep going -are ADDITIONALLY tasked with basically supporting both the poor as well as the lifestyles of the rich. I would be HOLLERING -or living in another country. Only the Scandinavians make high taxes work, and that's because the government ACTUALLY does the job it's SUPPOSED to. And more. I was shocked to find out that the two criminals they've got (two meaning VERY few) are so well behaved, they get weekends off... and come back to continue serving their sentence, sometimes early.

That boy...the 20 year old kid near the begining...his eyes..the lines in his face...He looked like he had been aged 40 years, and LITERALLY been in a war zone for his entire life. It damn near shattered my heart into 1000 tiny pieces to see a young person so...beaten down by life. When I saw the look in his eyes...It was like looking into an endless, empty, pitch black pit...and then when he said his entire family died in Katrina, his mom from cancer, and his dad had been killed, and then revealed he had been shot twice protecting his brother...my god... If I could, I'd give him everything I had. The room I live in, my car, all my money (even though it isn't much), fuck it- even a kidney or some of my liver.... Just about anything, if it would ensure his happiness. If I were religious, I'd pray for him morning, noon, and night, and every hour in between. Covenant house is just...just amazing. ...I've seen Covenant House reply to some comments and I just wanted to say; Covenant, if you're listening; please contact me if there's a way I can donate something, anything, to the boy in this video. I sincerely hope he's doing better.

Bettis C he was born addicted to drugs and alcohol. He was born with fetal alcohol syndrome which is shown in the facial characteristics. These young folks look so much older but that's what happens when you don't grow up in a healthy environment, have proper nutrition and healthcare. Add whatever happened to them while they were in the womb too. So many have strikes against them before they are even born.

When Liz said she immediately forgave all the times she's been hit, I felt that in my heart, too. Then seeing that girl cry because she couldn't read, made me want to hug her & help her 😟 Bless the amazing staff there! I was in New Orleans & it was such a beautiful place, I loved it. I thought and reacted to exactly the same things. And when Elizabeth said that she thinks that people who judge are kind of dumb (and even that was said in a humble way/voice)...that also made me feel for her so much. And when she told about when she was a child (like a minute before), and how she just instantly forgave people who hurt her and still loved them totally...I could see her as a child, in her eyes, and my heart felt like breaking. What awful things she must been through. And her Mom leaving her when she was 4 or 6... And on top of it all, she always asked everyone if they wanted a cigarette, with that clear, angelic like voice of hers.... I really hope all of these kids the very best, and applaud them for staying strong and trying their best, even though life must seem very difficult, dark, unfair and there doesn’t seem much to look forward to often, I’d guess. Then again, diamonds are made under intense pressure, and things Always change. I hope they know that and are reminded of that❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️

The young guy whose mother doesn't want him to have her address, it's just so terrible. His stepdad doesn't want him at their house, but she's his mother and should be there for her son, especially when he's only 17. I hope he succeed. Also, the girl who is walking saying "bow down", I feel sad for her, I hope she gets help.
