I'm a big rough guy, but Sheltland Sheepdogs always have and always will make me giddy and grin from ear to ear and have me down on my hands and knees basquing in their awesomeness! I absolutely used to love brushing my Sheltie first thing in the morning and before bed every day... It was therapeutic and helped me decompress and he absolutely adored it especially as my ex-wife looked on with envy LoL... I still remember the smart-assed look he'd give her every evening as i brushed him... Priceless....
Shelties are the best dogs on the planet...Although my girlfriend has a yorkipoo and I personally want a Leonberger, my childhood was spent with shelties (and a lot of cats) and I still can't get over how wonder these dogs really are. I bet your home is a Sheltie Paradise! Lol
So sweet! Macy will understand these are her new pack and they will all get along! I have adopted many rescue shelties in my home and had up to four at a time. Shelties are the best ever at accepting new pack members. Enjoy!
Man I wish I could get TWO puppies at the same time. I live with my parents, and they say no to another sheltie. We have a 5 year old girl who is wonderful, but can be a handful at times. But we are definetly going to get a second dog in the future, I'm hoping to get a rough collie, or some kind of collie cross
Awww! These Sheltie puppies are so precious! I wanna get at least one more Sheltie. The Sheltie dog looks exactly the my late dog, Cheyenne! I'm crying right now because it's so beautiful.
They're beautiful. It's sad, though, that this was 12 years ago. They've probably passed on by now. None of my shelties lived past 12 years of age. I wish they could live longer.
Just Me • I've so lucky because my Sheltie, Laddie, has been very healthy so my vet bills have been low. He's 12 years old now and still runs around like a puppy. Love my big boy.
@@katlovesdogs4119 That is great that your fur baby has been and still is very healthy. Yes, you've been very lucky but still an expense with feeding them especially if feeding a higher quality diet when so many people barely are able to feed themselves 😟 I had one dog that lived to be almost 18 years old but she was born with a heart murmur and had a lot of other medical expenses through the years. I also took in a dog the neighbors kicked out with heartworms when she was around a year old. I had her treated (expensive) and she lived to be almost 15. Another had kidney failure after a vaccination that was costly as well as my Sheltie that passed away 11 months ago had Cushings and near the end had seizures. Had her since she was 11 weeks old. She lived to be 14 1/2 and I am still really sad over her being gone. Just something people need to be aware of that it can be very expensive and now days it is very hard to find vets that work with people over the cost or at least that is the case in my area. Love and hugs to your Laddie 🐶💖
@@JustMe-ec2ph You have my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dog. I think about losing Laddie from time to time and just thinking about it is heart wrenching.
Hi, Your dogs are so cute. I have been considering a sheltie. I love everything about them. The only one concern I have is the brushing. Do you have a routine to keep all the dogs' coats brushed? If you don't mind sharing your experiences with home brushing; grooming, I would appreciate it. 😊
ESL EAL English Language Lessons with Teacher Theodora We used to brush our sheltie once or twice a week quite thoroughly. It doesn't feel like a chore though, it kind of relaxing! For a quite a few years now though we take him to the groomer about once a month. They trim his fur, bathe him, and remove a ton of excess fur, so we really don't have to brush him anymore beyond cutting out matted fur now and again. It's a lot simpler than it sounds!
It’s not a big deal to brush. Not anymore than when I had a chorkie. I feel like my shelties long hair also protects her skin where it seems like she has less itching, dryness etc than other dogs I’ve had. Don’t let it deter you at all. It’s actually fun to brush, doesn’t take that long and it’s not like their hair is easily knotted or anything.
@@ragtimegals Thank you for your reply. We got our sheltie a year after I wrote this message. 😊 She is now 3 years old and we are hoping to get a second sheltie soon. You're right - it's not too much brushing at all.
