I just bought one of these last Thursday. I like the way it rides. It seems a little janky when you are working on it. 29mm axle nut? The muffler doesn’t have rubber bushings, and the muffler bolts don’t have captured nuts. Beautiful bike though. I think it’s going to be a fun woods bike

I've not owned a Sherco so am not familiar with those details - thanks for the info. I like the smooth power which works well in the woods and finds traction. Enjoy your new Sherco!

Another great, informative video as always! BTW, I couldn't get the link of your "FAST son" to work! (Still makes me giggle...............sad, I know! LOL)

Glad you like the video! Trying going to my channel video page and click on the CRF450 Works Edition at RT62MX video and see if that works..worth watching my Fast/Fat son ride:) www.youtube.com/@mxengineer1/videos

Great vid and hello from BC Canada! You mentioned "Ergos were a little tight for my 6' 2" 190 frame" Can you expand on that comment a tiny bit? Was it that the handle bars felt too low, the cockpit, pegs or just the seat and plastics in terms of width?
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 4 месяца назад
You have some great off road riding in BC! The handlebar/seat/footpeg relationship is tight on the Sherco models. The handlebar mounts feel close to the rider, the footpegs feel high and a little forward, and the seat to footpeg distance is tight.

Sherco’s don’t have a throttle position sensor. I think the Beta’s models with oil injection may have one though.
@mxengineer1

Yes the '23 Beta 300 Race Edition I rode today had a throttle position sensor. I did not check the Sherco I rode in this video

Love your reviews man. Hows the vibration compared to the Beta 2 strokes?
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 11 месяцев назад
Thanks! Both Sherco and Beta have counter balancers but not as smooth as a KTM/Husky/GG 250/300. I would say maybe Sherco is a tick smoother than the Beta (little less through the footpegs).

Can you try and compare this to a 250/300xc tbi?
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 Год назад
Engine wise the KTM 250XC TBI engine feels more powerful with a quicker RPM build and less vibration. The Sherco has a full flywheel feel with more crank inertia so a slower RPM build and easier to find traction (similar to the older carb KTM 250XCW's with that low compression head). The 300XC TBI is on another level in terms of power everywhere - much more HP and torque with quick RPM build. Chassis wise the Sherco has quick steering - great for the woods - and the KYB suspension has a good woods setting out of the box.

Would you pick the Beta 300 over this or is it close?
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 11 месяцев назад
Both great bikes! I picked the '23 Beta 300 Race Edition: the 300RE engine runs clean and strong and very easy to control the power and the chassis layout fits my 6'2" frame a little better (a little more roomy).

You are always right! I’m ordering the 24 Beta tomorrow. Thank you for confirming 👍

Hello, do you know which Silencer this is? Because i think the Original is a bit larger
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 Год назад
Sorry I have no idea. The owner of the bike said it was a demo bike the the dealer freshened up with new plastic - maybe a new pipe and silencer too. Definitely looks much shorter than the standard silencer.
@Bp-sf6ou
@Bp-sf6ou Год назад
They just cut the pipe shorter to get your hand on the tail grip

Are these small companies making any money, I dont know what this bike costs but it should be much cheaper than a bigger name bike in the same class right? Take this and Beta for examples.
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 Год назад
That is a great question. Beta is a small privately owned (family owned I think) company so no financial details readily available that I can find. Beta has been around for many years so they must be making money. This 2023 Beta 300 Race Edition MSRP is $10,399 + $439 frieght + set up ($500 more than the base 300RR model). MSRP on my fuel injected 2023 KTM 300XC is $11,099 + $535 Freight + set up so a little more. Not sure about Sherco

How is the motor, the clutch and the general feel compared to your KTM Erzberg?
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 Год назад
The Erzberg engine has less vibration, more power/torque overall (300cc vs 250), and quicker RPM response. Chassis wise both bikes are more similar with quick steering/agile handling in the woods. PDS on the Erzberg gives the bike a more active and higher feel in the rear.
@DMC-179
@DMC-179 Год назад
@@mxengineer1 thx for the fast response! :) The RPM response is interesting.. I have thought, that the carb is more directly than the tpi system.
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 Год назад
@@DMC-179 Not so much about directness as quickness of RPM build. The Sherco has a full flywheel feel - builds revs more slowly and finds traction. The TPI has a quick rev though some find it less "meaty" in terms of low end feel vs a classic carb 2-stroke. The new KTM 300 TBI engine is very close to a carb with barky response that is more controlled thanks to electronic powervalve control (and EFI).

How does the engine and suspension compare to the yz250x you rode earlier ?
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 Год назад
I felt the YZ250X suspension had a little more comfort over the little chop. Engine wise the Yamaha was a little snappier with a sharper hit and less flywheel feel
@haydenflinner
@haydenflinner Год назад
I have a YZ250X with a steahly weight added to the already heavier X flywheel, that combo is still a bit scarier in the power than the Sherco I tried out the other day which was tuned for hard enduro. If you're trying to go fast (like GNCC A class fast) I'd say it's hard to go wrong with the YZ, but the slower you go below that the more the Sherco makes sense.
