She traumatized her poor husband and her children, she’s disgusting!

She needs to be in jail. I remember another female was reported missing around the same time and area and little attention was given to her case because it was focused on Papini. The other female is still missing

I really hope her husband realizes how emotionally dangerous that can be not only for him, but for his children. Those children need to be in a safe and stable environment.

It amazes me that in this day and age of technology, people still think they can get away with pulling this sort of BS off. To use the Sheriff's description, it just shows how much of a narcissist she is.

I said this woman ran off with a man when this happened and I’m no detective. Imagine how hard the detectives worked to make her accountable and then she did the “KAREN” and blamed Hispanics.

I knew her story didn’t sound right, it just doesn’t make sense. She’s a weirdo. It’s bad enough that she’s a married woman who faked a kidnapping to go stay with her ex-boyfriend but the fact that she’s a mother and was able to leave her kids like that says a lot more about her character to me. The best thing her husband can do is divorce her, take the kids, and never look back.

She's crazy AF, dangerous and goes to far lengths to try and keep a lie going. I'm glad she didn't get away with this.

The fact there was other women missing from the area around the same time that probably didn't get the attention their cases needed is sickening, not only did Sherri put on this whole plot and have a community in panic & grief, but a woman out there may have actually gone through the kind of things she pretended to go through, and died because of her taking up resources

This woman is disgusting and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The emotional hell she put her family through, then her using funds that could have been used to help find actual missing people. Then top it off, her blaming the hispanic community for her crimes. she is a piece of work.

I live in Northern California and this whole "kidnapping story" seemed fake from the beginning. Many of us could discern from her staged photos that Ms. Papini was narcissistic. So glad the truth has been made public. She made a fool of her husband and damaged her whole family. She needs a lot of psychological help; and needs to pay for all the harm she's caused.

The first clue should have been all those different photos where her husband is turned away or shows his back while she brightly smiles for the camera. So. Many. Weird. Photos!!!

I remember the day her kidnapping was presented on the news and was horrified for her, to think it turned into this is just outrageous. She deceived everybody, even her own husband and kids. I can’t believe she got away with it for so long.

This little princess never faced consequences, was never told no from a dotting weak parents. They want clarification from a 55 page document, they should ask their lawyer to break it down for them.

I feel so bad for her husband and children. You can see the pain in her husband’s face when he talks about seeing her again for the first time. She must have absolutely no empathy if she’s willing to put her family through all of that.

Lived in Butte county (close to Shasta Co) when this happened. Sherri's sister was my children's teacher at a Butte County school. This case always seemed kinda funky to many in our area. So glad to see she is behind bars for defrauding everyone.

Was the husband involved? Because if he was… give him the Oscar because he really looked devastated.

If found guilty she should get Jail time and pay back all resources used to look for her

What a selfish b****. The hell she put her family through just because she wanted to have an opportunity to go out and be a party girl again and not have the responsibilities of being a mother and a wife. There are real missing people out there, and there were a whole mess of resources that were wasted looking for her that could have been used to bring somebody's loved one home. As soon as I heard that she’d hurt herself and done crazy stunts in the past, I knew she was guilty. Most women couldn’t have themselves branded, but if they’ve been self harming for years, and especially for vindictive reasons? That type of woman is capable of anything. And that makes me seriously doubt that her husband was violent.

I remember watching her husbands interview and feeling so bad for him, & remember thinking how lucky she was to have such a loving and caring husband. Of course I questioned her story then too, like probably everyone else but I was like if he believes her I do too 🤷🏻‍♀️ Now my hearts broken even more for him. I know he’s not perfect and has his faults, I’m sure, but u can clearly see just how much he loves her & how much this took a toll on him emotionally. He doesn’t deserve any of this. I was suspicious of why she didn’t do any interviews & wasn’t on that show telling her story, now I know why.

Her family complained about the police arresting Sherri at her home in front of her two children. When the Police receive a warrant they are ordered by a judge to arrest that person wherever they may be found. I am curious if the family will assist Sherri in paying back the Victim compensation fund as well as the Go Fund me page.

She should get the same jail time for the fake people she accuse of the crime! She SHOULD get 25 years and should pay back every penny, The family also needs to return all the go fund me donations!!

I remember this case and I remember someone commenting all over social media saying she wasn’t kidnapped and was with her x boyfriend only to be abused from everyone. But he kept on saying that it was fake and he knew 100% that she was with him and gave his name too, she was bored with her husband and her life, described the injuries that she done to herself. He knew so much information on her and kept on getting shut down by people. And for some strange reason I believed him and felt something wasn’t right with her.

Disgusting. Think of all the women who actually go through bad sh**, and she pulls THIS and uses resources needed elsewhere? Beyond gross.

She should also be charge with breach of peace because she put the Mexican community in danger; people could have been looking at them sideways thinking that they're a threat

From the getgo, something about her story, when I first heard it, just never sat right with me. Call it instinct, maybe it had something to do with the era of 2015/2016 having a lot of those 'Gone Girl' type cases, I just really felt like something was off about her story. Now that they've finally confirmed it, I'm not gonna lie it feels kind of bittersweet, given how I had initially suspected the husband was in on it too. But let forget the dad and the rest of her family and think about her kids. They're gonna be mercilessly bullied because of what their mother did. They'll have to live with the shame that their mother was declared a narcissistic liar on national (or maybe even _international_ ) television, that their mother's defrauded thousands of sympathetic people who'd donated to help her recover from the trauma of being 'kidnapped'. Sherri's essentially not only ruined her OWN life, but that of her family's as well, especially her children's. She only felt 'ambushed' by police, because the truth was revealed in front of them.

I am upset that she accused 2 Hispanic woman of kidnapping her 😒 wow I'm sure every Hispanic woman who lived in that town was a suspect at that time. That in itself should be a crime. She targeted a specific race

When she went missing and her pictures were posted, my first thought that she looked like a narcissist. Her pictures seemed like she was modeling for her family pictures instead of knowledging them.

As soon as I heard this story, I knew the kidnapping was faked. The most puzzling piece of evidence that made me think it was fake was when her iPod and earplugs were found. It looked like it was placed there. There was no struggle. I think if there was a struggle, the screen would’ve been cracked since Apple screens are sensitive. Even though I had a feeling the kidnapping was fake, I still can’t believe that anyone would do this and that she would fake her own kidnapping and do that to her husband and children who were so worried for her. I don’t think the husband knew anything about it because he seemed so distraught and so heartbroken when she “disappeared.” I think either her friends or members of her family helped her. It’s possible she could’ve been having an affair and she thought she could cover it up by faking this whole charade where she was kidnapped but it never happened. Or she said her husband was abusive so she made up this whole story to get away from him.

I am so glad that law enforcement finally solved this… it frustrated me as to why it took so long, but I’m glad everyone finally knows what a liar Sherri is! Stacy Smart disappeared the exact same day, just a few miles away, but her case got zero media coverage. It’s so frustrating because Stacy deserved to be searched for. The public was completely swept up with the sexy blond-haired blue-eyed “Sherri Papini”, so sadly Stacy’s disappearance got lost.

He husband obviously loves her very much. Such a shame she never thought about him or their children. So selfish.

Ridiculous response by the sheriff when asked about Hispanic community. He diverted, didn't talk about the fear and intimidation they probably caused the community looking for this woman and then talked about the cartel. Not all abduction are gangs related.

So when do the hate crime charges come for making people more suspicious of Hispanic people, she described them as villains to the artist and it showed. It made me afraid people where going to judge us as more villainous and unnecessary than a lot of people already do.
