If you can meet all the criteria to exercise your rights you have the illusion of being free. I don't know that I necessarily agree with you about 'guns=rights', given that I live in a country where we have very strong gun laws for the individual and we're doing just fine for rights (so far, touch wood). ...However, I will say this: America is for Americans. If the majority of Americans decide they want guns, that is how America should work.

@bert smith totally wrong about burying them, yea some people will but to show you, February 13 and 20 in Richmond Virginia there were two 2A rallies and at both there were thousand of citizens from all over the country carrying any sort of firearm you could almost imagine and I’d say they were mostly loaded with ammo, I know mine were. And if it comes to a gun ban I’ve told my wife and friends I will die before surrendering my arms. No nowhere near 99% will hide their firearms rather than use them.

Yes, its true, Australia has no second amendment equivalent. However, under the US constitution and Bill of Rights interpreted in its original intent, there would be a very similar legal situation. Even if the Second amendment never existed, our general government still would have no delegated authority to infringe on the right to keep arms. If I understand correctly, a similar case is present in Australia, where the federal government does not actually have very much power at all in the field of gun control, because outside of international commerce, it also has no delegated authority over gun control. Furthermore, if I understand the current situation correctly, the federal governmetn of Australia has done a much better job at respecting that aspect of their constitution than the US government, even if the latter did not have the second amendment. Why? Because Australia's federal government does not actually have what most people would consider gun control laws. The US government does. Its quite interesting, actually.

Thankfully, a Sheriff is the highest law enforcement officer in any given county in Colorado, not State Police. Colorado doesn't have State Police. They have Highway Patrol / State Patrol like most Western states. Sheriffs can be voted in and out. State Police can't be (easily) voted out.
I heard a constitutional law professor speak at my local meeting. She said the constitution was subjective and could change at any time, she also said the constitution was written about muskets. She is teaching this shit to future lawyers.
I wonder what it must feel for the cops making traffic stops and stepping into the situation assuming someone is armed. It was quite unsettling for me back as a student in the states to know that it's completely normal to carry Guns with you. I understand that it is your legal right you are fighting for but I dont believe it is actually necessary to utilize it. They are our neighbors, friends, and family who love their communities and make a huge difference.
He's probably not wrong, but every one of them should be fired for making political statements while in uniform. It's beyond inappropriate for law enforcement officials at any level to be stating anything beyond the scope of his duties.

They take an oath to uphold the Constitution, but Only a Sheriff's Department is Constitutionally Recognized. A Sheriff is an Elected Official, whereas Police Officers are HIRED.

BUT, me and every other officer here at this department operates at the will of the sheriff. He can take our dept over at anytime, or demand all calls for service go through his office and HE will tell us what calls we can respond to. The sheriff is the highest ranking law official. Period. Many years ago i saw this first hand when we had a chief who was at odds with our sheriff. The sheriff put him in his place and told him that if he wanted his dept to be able to continue policing the town without him taking over that he better toe the line. That chief is long gone now. I say this so people realize that just because local law enforement police a city or town doesn't mean that the sheriff doesn't still have control because trust me, he does. He outranks that dept and if they are corrupt, can take them over and investigate / prosecute wrongdoers. Also, I stand with these sheriffs in this video. I will NEVER enforce an unconstitutional gun law. I will give them this badge back the day they tell me to do that. The libs can pound thier gun control agenda up thier arse.

I'm not even american, but I can tell Chicago has been violent for at least 100 years since the alcohol ban. No easy solutions there I guess. I live in very safe country almost without guns and anybody can walk anytime on any street. But we still have school shootings sometimes. I've handled enough lethal guns in the army, so I can tell any weapon is only dangerous with a dangerous human. A dangerous guy is one of the FFFF: failed, freaky, fearful or forced and the latter two are caused by the earlier two. I think the FFFFs don't care about the laws or who is the president too much. But with solid EEEE: education, employment, economy and empathy there are far less failed human lives and more good examples for young people.
