I would recommend to everyone thanks for this.. as I didnt actually film any video myself.. I almost expected to see some of us in your footage!!! biggest surprise was..!!! I diddnt know you could hire the wee retreat for a vacation.. wow.. I can remember when this building was public toilets.. a few years ago.. b4 conversion.. we used to come as a family. many years ago to sneafell caravan site.. sadly no longer there closed around 1993.. ish I think!!
Hi Neil. I love this video. My family has a holiday home just a minute's walk from the East Car Park. We visit 3-4 times a year. The Two Life Boats is a great pub serving great food. In the height of the summer season, you will need to book a table if you wish to eat there in the evening. Across the road from the Clock Tower (not shown in the video) is the Sheringham Trawler; to my mind the best fish & chip restaurant/takeaway in the town. The Kitchen and Norfolk's Pie Man are two of my favourite haunts to have breakfast. What a shame - no trains in the station just when you need them. The North Norfolk Railway (the Poppy Line) is my favourite attraction and I never miss an opportunity to make a visit - if only to sit at the station and watch trains come and go. It is really a must to take a train to Holt and back, getting off at Weybourne for a look around before continuing your journey. Trains also depart/arrive from/to Platform 2. Money is being raised to rebuild the buildings that once were on Platforms 2 & 3. They have numerous steam engines (large and small ) and a variety of coaches of several ages. They have the odd diesel or two as well. OK, end of commercial!
Try living here! Yes it's beautiful... Try getting re-homed because of people who own "Holiday homes" = Not pretty funny when tourists bang into you & give you a "black eye"... Also tourists go through the town like a plague of locusts - you can't buy food of which you need. I have lived everywhere in my life "WHY OH WHY DID I GET STUCK HERE!!!
@@carolgardiner8476 OK, let's close ALL seaside resorts to tourists and watch the towns die! You don't have to be stuck there, you can always move back to *everywhere*.
Thank you. I've never visited Sheringham. It's worth going just to visit the amazing station.I love the independent shops too. The Wee Retreat looks lovely but from £958 a week it's a bit pricey but maybe one for a special treat. Love the paintings of the fishermen. I'd have to have the old lady repainted, she's way too scary. Imagine coming home to her after a grueling fishing trip 😂
agreed .. just found out from Neil's video you could hire this.. however it would be absolutely fantastic views to wake up to every day sunrise.. and evening sunset.. maybe we could treat ourselves at least once in our lifetime... I have many fantastic pictures over the years of Sheringham beach and town... 👍
Thank you David for a very informative vid and well presented. Being new to sea fishing I’m hoping to fish in Sheringham in early October. I am enjoining working through all your RU-vids and any more you produce.
Thanks for showing round Sheringham it is nice to see the sea and beach and all the nice town and the train station and buses and it looks very busy round the shops and restaurants and the stream trains as well and you had a nice weather too and nice to see the old trains station and you should have a ride on the stream train cause its going back in time thanks Neil and i am ok
that was lovely thank you Neil , had to turn the sound down when the sea was coming up the pebbles ,the town is lovely but the steam train was the icing on the cake for me .
Excellent video. Been meaning to go to Sheringham for a while now. What a great advertisement for the town. Pity though about the amusement arcades. But I suppose they fill a need for some
My daughter who lives in Sheringham gave me a steam experience trip for father's day. The engine on your video is the one that I drove and fired to Holt.
Looks like they did a great job with the sea defence rocks which have been placed with machinery and barges do you know when this was done my friend all the best John 😊
Got to visit Cromer and Sheringham, beautiful seaside resorts. Thanks for the uploads once again. That footage of the steam engine at the end was superb!!
I go there every year. A few years ago, I saw John Major and his wife at the station. He gave us his autograph and posed for a photo with my parents. He owns (or owned) a second home just along the road in the village of Weybourne.
That was LOVELY Neil ! And the sound of the sea was so relaxing ... I almost fell asleep before you even got into the town centre 😄 .. Feeling as though I have just been on a day trip 👌
Hello Neil how are you love your vidio but it would be great to hear your voice on the vidioes like lets walk does he did subtle at Frist but now he attaly talks take care stay safe xx ❤
And beyond the beach and railway station are Beeston Hill (affectionately called 'The Bump'), woods, Pretty Corner, and miles of clifftop to roam. The planes are from RAF Marham or USAF Mildenhall - practicing low level flying so they can always keep us safe!
