Hailed as the most faithfully filmed adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary characters. This acclaimed series stars Ronald Howard as the world-famous sleuth and H. Marion Crawford in a different portrayal of Dr. Watson than usual.
THE CASE OF THE GREYSTONE INSCRIPTION: Holmes and Watson are called to investigate Miss Channing's missing fiance,. The man apparently discovered the secret of a hidden treasure belonging to King Richard II which Laird Greystone wants to keep at any cost.

My father worked in the film industry & knew Ronald Howard (Sherlock) who was a great guy, but it was very sad that with the success of this American Series of Sherlock Holmes in the USA, he thought he had it made but the show practically destroyed his acting career & after several B movies, in the 1970’s Ronald gave up acting & opened an art gallery. In the 1980’s he wrote a book ‘In Search of My Father Leslie Howard (the Scarlet Pimpernel actor) whose Scheduled plane was shot down by the Germans over the Bay of Biscay in June 1943 which haunted Ronald. I am delighted to at last get the chance to view this series, so thank you for uploading them& last week managed to purchase the full 39 episodes on DVD. 🌹

Anything. My mother’s teeth were very crooked. My grandfather wouldn’t pay the dentist to have them straightened. So the dentist said he would straighten her teeth for free. She was beautiful, but her front teeth were horrible and he didn’t want her to go through life that way. She stayed with her aunt, who was a nun in the city, so the dentist could work on her teeth.

wasn't Tarzan a "Greystone"?,...this series has my favorite Watson, and my favorite Inspector characters., ...I love Nigel Bruce, but he really is too "bumbling" to be believable as Sherlock Holmes assistant., and he over does the "naive" thang too.,...this "Holmes" is great, but Basil will always be "Holmes" in my mind., he's got the "look" for it too., not to depreciate Ron Howard at all he's great.,...after Andy Griffith, and Happy Days he must have been influenced by a vacation to England or something to make him stay in England making this "Retro" series for BBC., the B&W instead of color made it very authentic looking too., now that he's in Hollywood again, I wonder when he'll make another English themed movie soon instead of Children's movies like "The Grinch That Stole Christmas"., I liked him better as an actor., the make-up people over there are awesome!
@keepdancingmaria
@keepdancingmaria 4 года назад
No, Tarzan was Lord Greystoke, not Greystone. Close though. You also seem confused between American Actor/Director/Producer Ron Howard (of Mayberry and Happy Days) and Ronald Howard, British actor, who was Leslie Howard's son. Leslie Howard, famous for Gone With The Wind, died fighting in WW II. Ronald Howard has passed away now, as of 1996.
@haroldwilkes6608
@haroldwilkes6608 3 года назад
Ron Howard couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, he and William Shatner are from the zombie school of acting. Unless of course, you had your tongue in cheek when you wrote this.

Wow, that treasure was hidden for 600 years! What became of it then? Did it all go to the Queen? Didn't that other Richard get a share? Where is it today? In a museum? I wonder how that candle Holmes lit when he entered managed to stay fresh enough to light. What became of the young man who they put in the tower? Was he rescued?
@arentkvh3431
@arentkvh3431 6 лет назад
The "other Richard" lived 600 years ago (Richard the Second to be exact). It's rather hard for a dead person to receive things. The young man was rescued. remember the two villains were arrested so logically the young man was freed (and hopefully granted his professorship). The candle was able to stay lit because they were not in the room long enough for the flame to consume all of the oxygen that entered the chamber when the door was first opened. The treasure was returned to the crown, but citizens could make an application to receive a piece of it at the time (Watson tells Holmes that himself at the end). Even though I am a huge fan of Mr. Holmes, I must point out that unfortunately, he is a fictional character created by the brilliant mind of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and as such never existed.

Likely they were members of the Greystone family that found the treasure but were unable to figure out how to escape the room. Remember what Holmes said: "It seems your ancestors arranged for intruders."
@arentkvh3431
@arentkvh3431 5 лет назад
@doctorwho0077 Yes he was based on Dr. Joseph Bell and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was indeed a medical doctor, but you have missed the point I was making. The character Sherlock Holmes was fictional. He did not exist at all. He was based on a real person true, but the fact remains that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories, while excellent, are just works of fiction. Perhaps you should have read what I wrote a little more carefully, rather than jump to conclusions?
