Food insecurity is an alarming problem in America with more than 50 million people, including 16.7 million children, living in food insecure households. It has no boundaries: A single mother, working a minimum wage job, who can't afford to pay her rent and also buy food for her children; an elderly man, whose Social Security income doesn't cover the cost of his life-saving medications and his groceries; a father, recently laid off, who must choose between paying the electric bill and buying food for his family. What these people, like millions of other Americans, have in common is that they depend on the assistance of Feeding America's nationwide network to help put food on the table day in and day out. www.nutritionmission.com
