This live performance of "Safe and Sound" is perfection. As a songwriter and performer, to have written one timeless masterpiece is an incredibly rare accomplishment, much less to capture it live in such a moving, powerful, gorgeous atmosphere. Transcendent.
I was afraid of snakes so I caught one and ate it alive. Was afraid of lightning so sat in a tall tree during bad storm with a lightning rod! I'm no longer afraid of ANYTHING!
The first time I heard this song was after watching the movie K-PAX and I fell in love with it immediately. It is definitely one of my favorite Sheryl Crow songs.
this song makes me cry everytime i listen to it...reminds me of a very painful time in my life when my Mother passed away...the choir are amazing and sheryl is amazing for holding back tears during this performance...it is so emotional
I remember seeing this during the tribute concert's original airing... the tribute concert was decent up until her song came on - which really became the embodiment of the entire tribute in my opinion. I was in tears by the end of the song and still get very teary eyed today when remembering what this song really represents.
I vividly remember watching this, a little over a week after 9/11. This song, and "Someday We'll Be Free" that Alicia Keys sang, really captured what I think all Americans were feeling at that time. I remember how united we were as a nation at that time, and while I don't wish for another 9/11, I do wish we could return to that sense of unity.
I hear this song after I have seen that Sheryl dedicated this one to Owen Wilson...The power of love is incredible, it makes do people amazing things, like this song.
To anyone who has ever loved an addict, I feel you. They teach lifeguards how to protect themselves when they get near a drowning person. If they hurt you bad enough then no one gets saved.
I love this song. I first heard it in the credits of the "White Oleander" film. This is a very different version, but still so beautiful. Even enhanced, in a way. I've never heard it live before. Love it!
Funny how this song is used in two films made pretty much back to back. I mean sure there’s a large gap between the two but in terms of the use of the song it’s only a year apart. October 2001 for K-Pax and October 2002 for White Oleander.
I remember I heard this song after 9/11 and I burst down in tears, it had so much meaning to me at that time and I relive it everytime I listen to it. FDNY respect
J Marco Listen to the version of “Safe and Sound” with Sheryl playing this huge grand piano and there’s candles everywhere and all the back up singers it will make you cry it is like the Angels are all singing as if the words came straight from God, I swear I get chills!!
Gorgeous! I have come to love the work of this wonderful artist, and to appreciate the fact that thanks to Sheryl Crow, there is still some beautiful music in this world. She is first class!
This song really helped me through some really rough and tumble times, without all the drabulous details this song made me feel good when things were really rough.
I saw this video version of this song for the first time after 9/11. It was televised as a national event. It broke my heart then and still does. Every time I hear this song it takes me back to the days following the attacks..... frightening, scary, and unknowing....this song will always take me back...love her

My favorite Sheryl Crow song. What wonderful heart and feeling she brings to her music. Listen and learn from this elegant woman all you Techno-crap "artists."
Scott Murdock I always thought that it was from that movie about a fireman who receives messages from his dead father in his ham radio. Or, at least thinks he does. I think it was called Frequency
This song is my favorite song of hers. And this arrangement was well Done with the soft chorus considering it was a lamental affair and a time of mourning. I feel this country never stops mourning.. praying our loved ones will be Safe and Sound .♥️
Jim, thanks for letting me use ur phone. This is a beautiful and classic example of wonderful songwriters. This is one of those songs that I'll never forget. Its a great song to listen to when u feel a little lost yourself. SKPF.....
Tuesday night music club, sheryl crow, cmon cmon, wildflower... Love Sheryl Crow and I bought this album and remember listening to this song in my car and it really blew me away. It still does.
the first time heard this song was on 9/11 right after the attacks - - i will always recall that day and all the people we lost with this powerfully beautiful song........
I only started listening to Sheryl Crow album cuts last week cuz I’d heard “Maybe Angels” a few months ago and realized she had more going on than just “Soak Up the Sun” and “Picture” had led me to believe. Anyway, I can’t believe this song is on the same album as “Soak Up the Sun.” If I’d known that back when I was a kid, I’d probly been a Sheryl Crow fan my whole life. The studio version of this song is rock n roll af.
I Say This Is Powerful Music Video With Angel Precious ⭐️Sheryl Crow Singing 🎤And Playing Piano To This Amazing Powerful Wonderful Song Done So Well Written By Sheryl Crow Thank You Sheryl Crow From Denis,Denny🥰❤️❤️❤️⭐️And🌙❤️
The movie K-PAX is one of the best movies I've seen and it had this song in it. It's connected with the unbelievable passing of my mother and also my beloved wife
I had no idea she played piano. I recently discovered the album version of this song in an episode of Judging Amy, and it's by far my favorite Sheryl Crow song. It's so different from her typical sound. I'm so glad I discovered the song and now this piano version.
this concert is where i first heard this song. this concert is where i fell in love with this song. it makes me think about my best friend who i lost to cancer in nov.2000
@UndercoverCracker Also was on the end credits of K-PAX, which brought me here looking for it - cool movie as well. i think I'll check out White Oleanader...
