This non-commercial blog is dedicated towards presenting a destination for its genuine nature accompanied with regional music. Now and then I will upload a video. Stay tuned. This time, I am visiting Shetland; a small island in Scotland.
I’ve been in Shetland for 4 months on a locum contract with the hospital. I absolutely love it here, the people are so friendly.....it’s kind of changed my life and I couldn’t think of a better place to be during lockdown! I’m very lucky to have been blessed with this opportunity 👍🏻🤗. Thank you Shetland x
Ooh to hear that lovely "Shetland" theme, feel the hairs rise on the back of my neck and visualise Douglas Henshall as he stands in that ruined barn, turning his gentle face towards the camera
1:28 Gorgeous girl, very well hydrated hahaha 1:32 That beautiful music OMG The lamenting abscence of trees is so sad, its like the whole place seems mournful, must be the high latitude 4:36 Houses remind one of Skyrim Love from Pakistan
As a Yorkshire man living in Shetland, there are many similar words in both dialects. The Northern parts of Yorkshire have strong Norse links / history.
I really enjoyed this video about Shetland, I really hope to get there in near future! Was in Aberdeen, and isle of Skye 2 years and could very easily live there I loved it so much. I’m also a BIG Shetland series fan, which I’m sure has helped to boost tourism as the cinematography was amazing. ❤️My husband was born in Scotland so another reason to love it :)))
Wow! You guys did a really good job making this video! It is my dream to visit Shetland one day! Also, if you are ever in the Washington, DC area, I would love to give you a tour! Thank you so much for your hard work putting this together! :) :)
Yeah gday mate its John from Australia here. I live in Moombooldool , NSW which is just west of Kamarah and up the road from Narrandera. Get yourself down here one day and I'll show yas around. Have a great day mate.
I enjoy the program and also the landscape, it is so beautiful. Of course I love the actors. I have traveled all over the world and yet have not been to Scotland, better hurry I am 81
Brilliant video, thanks for uploading, love to see more of your travels. North East England comes highly recommended by me! Hadrian’s Wall etc great places to explore
Beautiful! Where abouts in the Shetlands did you get the boat ride at the end of the video where you saw the gannets and got to feed the seal? Was it the same boat or two different ones? Planning our trip for next year and would love to do that!
theres one island with so many shetland ponies it outnumbers its inhabitants by 50 to 1 im pretty sure its the island foula. just wanted to share a random fact with you all about my favourite place
1:15 - If you ever fly to Shetland, suggestion is to go from Aberdeen. Reason being is that if the airplane goes up to Sumburgh, circles around, can't land, it will go back to Aberdeen -- and then you can take the ferry. This happened to me once. Your video brought back memories. 10:45 - Wow. I lived on Unst in Haroldswick, just down from the most Northern Post Office. It's been a while, but it may have been that house in top left of 11:10 Did you come across Arctic Terns - they are very territorial and do dive-bombing raids on humans...
Really envy anyone who can travel to and make a home in such a remote and beautiful place,as Shetland.I've spent all of my life in a polluted and crime infested city(all cities are the same,worldwide,unfortunately...)-and i want and need out, permanently.I do not have much money,BUT i do have incredible desire to transcend such a worthless environment, once and for all.I could tent it and occasionally hostel-from one place to another-just a backpack of personal items and the clothes on my body-yomp,yomp,yomp!I would be doing it solo, unlike other
I’m watching this only because British baker James Morton is from the Shetland islands and from the smallest town I’ve ever seen. No wonder he learned baking. As I’m from the states im shocked he is from such a far off place and surprised neither he nor the media nor these islands made anything of it that British bake off James Morton is from this area. Weird.
@@tankthepitbull520 They always belonged to Scotland(,before the Norwegians stole it 800 AD-1400 AD)then since the 15 th century ,before becoming part of the UK in 1707!
@@tankthepitbull520 No,im from South west Scotland. All the Islands, have at some point, been owned by the Irish(Dal Riada)and the Norwegians, its just that Shetland was the last one to become part of Scotland! Its like somebody from "Mull of Kintyre" saying they are Irish still. Load of nonsense. The Vikings annexed Orkney/Shetland for 600 years. They weren't there originally!
