I never saw this show as a kid, but I'm glad I found it now. A boy turning into a female superhero most likely upset a lot of people, but I enjoy this a lot. I wish they were able to make season 2
My god, I used to love this show so much and only just remembered it. Lmao I’d love to see what the screenwriters were thinking XD If this was released now people would think it’s so progressive but I just love how derply this is
You know, I like this show, I like it for treating cross dressing as not a big deal. It's progressive in a sense it tells men wearing women's clothing can still be a great hero. Not as progressive as I would have liked but it's still a step in the right direction. It's a fun show and I would like it to have a second season.
I respect your opinion, but this show is funny in the way it nonchalantly portrays cross dressing and gender changing. I would love to see Jontron or Vailskibum react to this.
@@PrecurenBFDI you would probably scream similar to that if you found out you had to transform into your opposite gender and fight crime for the rest of ur life
I used to watch this as a kid and I wished I had the ring, not even to do any superhero stuff, just to turn into a girl *foreshadowing* noun A literary device in which an author drops subtle hints about plot developments to come later in the story
im also a fan of puns they don't bother me as most do I either laugh, say "good one", or ok. I don't groan or complain like most people do. and yes this crossdressing hero is awesome to me
This show feels like Ben 10 and Johnny Test had a child and that child was mentored by Ed, Edd, n Eddy and Danny Phantom. In other words, this show has a premise that I shouldn't like, but everything I find stupid and annoying about Johnny Test and Ben 10, is replaced by what i find funny and awesome about about Danny Phantom and Ed, Edd, n Eddy. Bottom Line, I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!
I think Shezow could be better as an "adult" cartoon. They could get away with a lot more jokes and not be seen as "offensive" (for lack of a better term) to younger audiences. Either way; i love the show.
yeaa i dont think they would want to be offensive. Thats kind f the opposite of the point of the show. Guy was chosen to be a female superhero. The shows more pn the whatyou would call "pc" side of things. Of course it was cancelled because of homophobic and transphobic aholes attacking and complaining about its existence even though there was no trans or gay topics in the show.
That's what I'm saying lol. Everyone always says its an allegory for male to female trans, but I for one think it's an allegory for genderfluid trans. Cuz Guy still seems comfortable being a... well, guy lol
You know we complain about the humor alot... but we gotta remember this is directed towards kids. Not 20 somethings with critical thinking lol. That being said the show does have a good message, and i just love that it pisses off so many overly religious, crazy people :3.
When I was a teen in the early '80s, I went through a Rocky Horror phase. My Mom freaked out when she found my costumes and shrieked, "I don't want my SON coming home in fishnets before my DAUGHTER is old enough to!" Truth is, it never "made me gay," in fact I met my first girlfriend at Rocky Horror, and the rest is history. Parents, I kind of understand your concern but this will only make already straight kids grow up to be straight but not narrow like me. (cont)
The whole point of the show is that he is a BOY who has to play a part of a GIRL to make the public believe he is the same Shezow as before. He’s not trans 💀💀 he is not a girl as shezow either he just has to play the part as one.
There was this reddit post that said that Shezow was a trans allegory, and I would agree except they said that it's an allegory for male to female trans but I kinda disagree. I think it's an allegory for genderfluid trans people. As evidence by the line in this episode "don't you mean mama?" "eh, depends on what I'm wearing" because even when Guy starts feeling more comfortable dressing as a girl in later episodes, he is also _still_ comfortable dressing as a boy. In simpler terms, he's fine either way.
+Robert Harris OK so.. girly answer time... ahem.. He can walk easily in those heels because they're square platforms not stilettos (The sharp heels, or "fuck me" pumps aka Stripper heels). It's essentially like walking in a really tall cowboy boot. they aren't that difficult to walk, run, or do what ever in. I have a pair like that , not the same color, but i like to wear them day to day cus they're pretty comfy.
Yea, that's cool and all...But I'll bet that's only because ExcelHedge's vid was the first one on the list when he was looking for the episode to make the link...Nothing all too remarkable there...But maybe there's more to the story than that...IDK. I just think it's unlikely.
redflame300 agree, but shezow was made to be a girly superhero. but i don't have a problem with, i mean, i could see how people will say it to be "sexist" but it just makes it even funnier the fact that guy has to dress up like that.
Tbh, I had to get into the show before I could love it. Like I wanted to hate it, but I now, i have seen every episode and I WANT THIS TO COME BACK. I think my inner fan girl was telling me, "keep watching it"
what's it with all the comments claiming this is trans and all that? The cartoon is just the most "guy-like" kid (literally named "Guy"), and he gets stuck in the position of an overly-feminine themed superhero because, well, it's funny. The show isn't propaganda or anything, it's literally a kid's cartoon with a bunch of puns
That’s what makes it so great for drag queens and trans folks, it’s just a fun show that breaks and questions gender norms in a non “conservatives will call this the gay agenda” way…even if they still do
I used to wear a ring and say you go girl 10 times a day I'm surprised my parents didn't get fed up with me but shezow was literally my childhood ill miss it 🥹
I think this show definitely had some sort of effect on my current gender identity, and I mean that in the best way possible. I love that I grew up with a show like this, despite the ‘controversial’ premise
Cremation joke, "Shut the Front Door" joke, "Holy Ship" Joke, & drag? No wonder this show isn't in the US. Glad I discovered it though. Aside from these small gags that are foreign to a person used to US kid's television programming, this cartoon is surprisingly normal. In fact, SheZow is a pretty high quality show. Great animation, acting, and writing (from what I see in this episode). Humor is good, and the show is very interesting to watch. Also, AMAZING OPENING THEME! AMAZING! This cartoon really gets me thinking about other great shows the US audience is missing out on.
I never heard of this show. I just found this just now and I was shocked that the superhero is actually a boy. This show is so ahead of it's time. I think there will be many more shows like this now because of how LGBTQ is taking over the world.
This show isn't even LGBT. Guy, is still in fact a guy. We don't see him change gender (because they still use he for him), and we don't see him hook up with any other guys too. He's just another kid-superhero that just so happens to be in a girl's costume.
@@lusmiipangya-6013 Exactly... if anything it is the only rep for GNC men outside of Japan as until this character, there has only been Otokonokos for such representation
@@lusmiipangya-6013queer spaces usually also accommodate those who crossdress even if they're completely straight cause usually they're treated as outsiders in straight cis places. They're not technically LGBT, but they're seen as honorary members from needing saftey from a heavily conformist society
PROS: >interesting concept >voice of the main char, reminds me of Sonic >homophobes be raging >main char is a trap >a cool looking trap >lel penis trololo NEUTRAL: >afraidoftheporn.jpg >the humor CONS: >spam of the big red "SHE PUNS" button >voice acting when trying to sound like a girl >the god damn puns >somewhat rushed intro >DID I METION THE FUCKING PUNS?
Vriska Serket I count the puns as both a benefit and a downside... depending on how much to like terrible puns. XD I completely agree with him trying to sound like a girl. Though to be fair, it IS supposed to be played for laughs.
I honestly can't believe it's been ten years since I've even thought about this show. I've just rewatched it, and realised how much I actually miss it. I was really sad to find out it was cancelled, even more so to find out there was a second season in the works, but got stopped. And the main reason I found out being that millions of mothers were concerned that the show would confuse their children about gender. And I do understand that. Gender has always been one of a main focus in our society. Along with sexuality. But this show, in it's silly, comical, and childish jokes put a light spin on this. Since rewatching the show I have thought about in depth of what it can do for the LGBT community if it does make a comeback. Either through a second season with a more modern take on our beloved she-mazing super heroine. Or to start from scratch with that modern take and looking more into the aspects of gender equality, but keeping loyal to its enjoyable, funny and super She-larious humour. I think of this show did make a comeback. In my opinion, I think that shezow could support LGBT in many ways. The main for me is trans. But not only can shezow represent LGBT, but also the drag community as shezow is guys 'alter-ego' I can see people in the drag community seeing this as a drag-persona. (I for one would love to see a drag shezow!) This and gender equality. As being shezow. I believe that guy has come to respect the opposite gender more. So you can see how I believe that shezow can support a wide range of today's communities. And if theres even a small chance of this she-rific show coming back or having a reboot. I really think it would have a strong chance and captivate a wider-range of an audience and possibly even inspire people to be themselves. I recently found out there was a 'saveourshezow' campaign but was closed. I'm just really hoping for someone, anyone. To open another and I would happily sign to save a unique show just as this. I love shezow! And I hope that love still exists even 10 years later! I'm just one person, but I know there's lots of fans out there that want the show back. So please bring back that love And help ✨save our shezow!! ✨
love that most people in the comments are trans people who watched the show as a kid going “yeah this explains a lot.” including me. i don’t know how my parents didn’t anticipate me coming out.
"The whole 'she' pun is something we play along with throughout the series. {Guy's} car is called the 'She-hicle" and when something crazy or funny happens, he'll say 'she-diculous' or 'she-larious'". -Obie Scott Wade
I decided to finally try this show out, besides the puns being a bit repetitive, I like it. And it's good to hear the voices of Double D and Ed back in action together again.
Well There is an episode where they go to a gender swap universe And I 100% think there is a low key ship between the two versions of our crossing dressing protagonist
(popsicle looks at hand, looks at Shezow's) "Hmmp mine is bigger" X'D that innuendo OMFG!? is this for real? the show was losing me for a second there, but that little slip made it worth it!
