SHIFT IT Star, Goorgen Zargarian says: "I think the key to the success of the video was that I mixed Iranian music with simple English lyrics" He says he is in shock of how widely it has been viewed.
I saw this commercial on RU-vid months ago, and LOVED it! I shared it all over Facebook and email. I am so glad it's now gone "viral" . Congratulations to Goorgen Zargarian and Rhett and Link.
Persian. Judging by his name he's Iranian-Armenian. Because his name is Goorgen Zargarian. Zargarian means goldsmith in Persian, it is a Persian last name. Goorgen is an Armenian First name.
Sina HPR At 1950 when armenians were living in irans villages, they had not a signed lastname and government asked everyone to go get a certificate like a personal card so they were farmers and they didnt know their lastname well and when they went to the places to write they said wrong names and the writers wrote worse. Zargarian is persian but his lastname was Zakarian, iranian workers whom wrote those lastnames they all wrote them wrong but close to persian ones. My lastname is Hovnanian but as you see they wrote it Hounanian (هونانیان).
Yeah, it's the equavalent of Greg in Armenian. My real last name is Danielian, and the Iranians changed it to Daniali when my grandparents lived there. When my mom and dad came to the states in 1969, they never changed it back and pretty much kept it the same.
@@freddaniali Dude I wrote this comment 9 years ago. Didn't even remember this video existed. I'm in Yerevan now so beer's on me if you ever visit home.

blood/ethnicity -- ARMENIAN nationality --- AMERICAN & IRANIAN If he's going to be labeled belonging to some classification, make sure it's accurate. Peace
yeah it was funny for a few seconds and we all watched it.. is he Mick Jagger now? umm NO! but let's hear it one more time anyways.. damn it's catchy. nice mix of genres!
Speaking Persian (Farsi) doesn't change someone's blood. He and his family are still full Armenian. Leila Forouhar sings in Armenian--- does that make her Armenian now? You're writing in English, does that make you English now? NO. During the time of Tigran the Great, Armenia was so large that it extended from sea to sea and no such country as "turkey" existed. When Armenian and Greek land was stolen to create Turkey, all of the Armenians that lived on those historic Armenian lands (including my family) had to move elsewhere including Iran, Greece, Europe and other places. By the way, Goorgen has a show on the Armenian channel where he speaks in Armenian every day, just for your information. However, unlike your misperception, speaking a langauge (Farsi) or living somewhere for a long time (Iran) does not change someone's blood. Goorgen Zargarian (first name and last name are even Armenian) is full Armenian.
Kwame Brown It's a comment section-- if comments bother you, you are being quite the hypocrite by posting one yourself. There's an X button at the top left of the page if you are using safari. Do yourself a favor and click on it.
Kwame Brown Here's your comment copied & pasted: "Who gives a fuck if hes Armenian or Persian. Who cares.. stfu already" So you're asking people to stfu in your because you don't care if he's Armenian or Persian. So-- you have the right to post sharing your thoughts, but when others post regarding his ethnic background they must "stfu" because you said so? You get your facts straight. Posting to ask people to "stfu" entails 2 possibilities-- 1) you are either bothered, or 2) you are a troll posting for the sake of posting without meaning what you are posting.
His fame is all thanks to Rhett and Link. They're the ones in the background when Goorgen is with the woman in the machine shop. They're actually the ones who helped make the commercial.
