Left Singapore for Canada when I was 12 and discovered hip hop here. Makes me so proud to see you guys doing hip hop right in Singapore. Please keep the Singlish in your raps it's what makes singaporean rap original and unique!

I agree that this is not his best composition, but what's with the hate man? Y'all are okay with other Singaporeans singers like JJlin and Stephanie Sun as they are the pop singers. Is it because this is R&B and Hip-hop? This guy here has lost his dad at a relatively tender age. Have you guys been thru what he has been thru? At least he is doing what he love, how many of us are doing what we love? He persevered and became a self-made singer-songwriter. How many of you haters have done that? Singaporean don't wear like these? Come on man, its the 21st century and he his representing Hip-hop/rap! What else do you expect him to wear? Suit and tie? Geez. As long as it's made in Singapore, it's local talent. Whatever is made doesn't even have to be about Singapore (see the Thumbdrive, Save Me by Gentle Bones and Dynasty Warriors) So fellow Singaporeans, go out and make anything. We need talent like you.

I like the video and I like the song....this and Lim Peh are the only 2 Shigga Shay songs/videos I know and I like both....I read some of the negative comments about how it's not Singaporean enough and I really have to disagree. Honestly, if we must die die bring in all the Singaporean elements like they say, we'll end up with another Dick Lee and his Rasa Sayang song years ago! That was relevant then, this is relevant now.

This is quite a surprising video at least for me, a Singaporean who now lives in America. The question that lingers in my mind long after I seen the video is if ShiGGa Shay is perpetuating a sub-culture or counter-culture? There are plenty of thuggish-ness and and suggestions of hoodlum activities in the video against the iconic skyline of the preposterously prosperous city. To be exact, this is reminiscent of rappers from the Bronx rapping against the Freedom Tower with guns in their hands and their noses whitened by excessive cocaine sniffing. After all the appropriation of dialects and other official languages and name dropping, I am left wondering if this is an anthem of the less-advantaged Singaporeans or Singaporeans resisting the fast gentrification of the city.
