Yes but think this way: you are shikamaru, naruto dies in hands of boruto - his adopted son and you feel strange about it for some time. Then sarada, person who should hate boruto because he killed her idol naruto is saying that boruto is innocent every day. Then one of the smartest person on earth makes a valid argument that his memories have been altered. Having iq over 200 would certainly make you understan something. My theory is that shikamaru knows this, maybe for some time already, but if he tells someone kawaki, eida and daemon will probably kill or capture him so he keeps his mouth shut about it until he gets a chance.

@@murdafrmda4565 sure yah but you get my base point tho. Both are smart. Both for different reasons. Allowing them to come to similar conclusions just by different means. Amado is book smart. With Science and Math. Experimenting through creation and trial/ error. Giving him his smarts. Shikamaru is lazy partially because of having such a high IQ. But his intelligence is more of a kind of strategy, psychology and common sense. Albeit if he applied himself I’m sure he could be just as smart as Amado. Orchimaru would be a good example of someone who is both Intellectually smart with battle tactics and strategy. While also being my able to apply that to his Science. He’d be kinda like the middle ground. Not quite as science smart as Amado and not quite the genius in battle compared to shikamaru.

Gaara's age is irrelevant. Different village, different standards. But I still think you do have a point. It's not really the age as much as it is the experience it tends to bring. Minato was chosen because he was already skilled enough to fend off entire armies and prodigy of almost unseen magnitude. Konohamaru's issue is that he simply lacks feats due to living his teen and adult years in era of peace. In eyes of everyone older than him he's simply too inexperienced comapred to pretty much anyone important in 4th war.

Because when u think abt it shikamaru being the most intelligent person among the 5 great nations and possibly the entire world must have given a thought to what sarada has been yapping about for the past three or so years... Because his battle IQ is so high we can speculate that he is like the professor from money heist nd he carefully analyses every possible outcome ... I can never believe that someone as smart as him would never think twice about his memories when he lives in a world where everything is possible.. quite literally...

It'd take a _metric butt-tonne_ of Chakra to pull it off, but the theory is sound.

I think the factor of having to literally travel through dimensions to reach naruto with that would be a great add in to the story.

Even if they could, they would be going into a timeless dimension, so the second they entered it, they would be frozen in time and unable to do anything while in there. If there were able to pull Naruto out without having to enter, they'd be fine.

@@0errab0 I think time doesn't pass, but others in it aren't just naturally frozen. Kawaki was able to move in it, and speak to Naruto while he was in there.

If he had doubts before, they are definitely confirmed with what Amado said. Def hope Shikamaru has a moment in the next chapter, let us know what that smarty is thinking.

Exactly. They only believe that because they have no reason to doubt Hokage's son and the person who's walking universal security camera. If evidence is presented pointing to the contrary, there's no reason why anyone wouldn't be able to doubt the validity of the things they said. It would actually be quite hilarious if the next plot twist ended up being that while they still believe that Kawaki is Boruto, they also believe that since he and Eida lied about Naruto's fate they're now probably responsible for making him disappear. So in a way, Boruto still ends being the outcast, just not the real Boruto. Let's also not forget that everyone still remembers how Boruto cheated in Chuunin exams and how Naruto humiliated him. Or that he's still otsutsukified. There's plenty of reasonable explanations for why Boruto would turn against his dad. And he's been acting weirdly since then, characters like Mitsuki and Hiwamari and probably plenty of others must have noticed that. Maybe that's because of the guilt for what he did or because of he's not himself anymore. But honestly, I'd rather see Boruto and Sarada receiving that easy way to turn the tables. Boruto, the main character becoming total outcast was cool twist. I don't want Kishimoto to immediately start backtracking and undoing it without Boruto and Sarada earning that. I guess best way would to compromise would be that they do a bit of detective work and figure out what Kawaki did and reveal the truth about Naruto for the world.

Shikamaru needs to keep that secret because he knows he'll need to count on them to eliminate Eida if she turns on the Leaf. Also, we now know he has figured out the switch in the past and just doesn't remember because Omnipotence has continued to smooth over people's memories long after activation.

Yep, this really isn't matter of intelligence. Even the most genius logical thinker can still be very-close minded and at point that intelligence is massive double-edged sword. It can be used to argue against existing hypothesis just as well it can be used to prove the current belief. Naruto is one of his closest friends, he's angry at his murdered, this is a test if he can overcome his personal bias and have enough open mindset to doubt everything he has ever believed in. If he can't his high-powered brains only serves to disprove everything Sarada, Boruto and Sumire might throw at him.

Exactly, if I were in Amado's position, I'd be more surprised if I were NOT monitored in some way than if I were, especially with someone as Shikamaru as the hokage. The right question, as you said, is why now? I'd say that has to do with the attack on Konoha. If I'm going with the assumption that he's heard Boruto was spotted in Konoha confronting Code and easily incapaciting him, then he needs a way to make it possible for Boruto to stay without being attacked by the whole village. One, because he needs to confirm who actually has the mark he needs to revive his daughter (he knows his memory was tempered with, but not in which way, which can be crucial in determining how to proceed next). Two, because Boruto has most likely information on the claw grimes that they all need to survive. Three, having Boruto around significantly raises their odds for survival, again. The only one who has such political power is Shikamaru, obviously, but even he will need proof to publicly exonerate Boruto. So giving him tangible evidence for them having their memory tempered will help them all.

@@drawingspider7798 ya I was going to get into some of the possibilities but my post was already pretty long, but I think you're pretty spot on. I'm just worried about what he's not saying, like is this all just going according to his plan or is he just trying to figure it out like everyone else Probably somewhere in between, but whatever the case, I still think he's one of if not the most dangerous person the Leaf needs to worry about. And I think it would be really cool to see him & Shikamaru in a battle of wits for the rest of this arc, I really hope they play that up

@@jsull81 I agree, though I suspect they both are already engaged in that battle of wits. I enjoy Amado as a character quite a bit, he's quite the engaging, morally (dark) grey character. We know he doesn't mind experimenting on children, and doesn't hesitate in manipulating and sacrificing others, will absolutely betray you if necessary with every good rational. He only does things that benefit him, but not in a short-sighted way. He's clearly playing the long game. Shikamaru knows that, and likely knows that he's being played, but allows it for now because it benefits Konoha for the time-being while investigating his real motives. Honestly, Amado and his mysteries have made the series much more interesting for me in general.

@@user-ik7bb6ss3q Eida's charm thing is her omnipotence, when exposed to her when she first shows up in the leaf, him and amado feel a strong mental discomfort instead of the usual infatuation that most other characters experience, and he's able to hold her against her will in his shadow for a limited time, while most other people can't even think of doing something against her when near her.

@@LealFireball ,lol,Bug didn't show a hint that he liked her but it was explained that he is "a chicken". Code put a claw mark and even used his claw but couldn't finish his attack. Code without limiters still couldn't hurt her.

I'm not saying they can hurt her, we get direct explanation by Amado that it effects them differently because their minds are stronger when Shikamaru asks what's happening, the manga shows what Shikamaru is thinking, he's not putting up a front he's trying to strategize at the moment by analyzing what's happening to himself and he's not attracted to her, he's seeing her as an enemy that he's unable to hurt.

@@LealFireball ,omnipotence works or doesn't. There is no "between". Amado is probably 1.psycho that can doubt his mind 2. Knows about Eida potential(BTW,except Boruto,Sasuke,Amado and Kawaki- no one knows that her real power is omnipotence. Sarada and Sumire understood that it was her but they don't know what's her real power) 3. Has a personal evidence that was created by him and no one can "copy" what he did(photos and documents can be faked by regular person but karma-seal- only he can do). 4. What if Amado actually put himself into "safe" zone and did something to his body/brain that can resists omnipotence?

Kishimoto did say Kakashi has a huge pivotal plot in part two so maybe that could be part of it!
