The word that you were looking for to describe her performance is her voice is like a musical instrument. I have heard this kind of singing in mongolians and traditional chinese folk songs. A major feat and hard to achieve and she has done it admirably. Superb review by you as always. Thank you.
She sang amazingly no doubt, but we cant compare both of them. Sheila's version is better suited for foreign ears as they are not adapted to the original tibetan style, finding it too shrill. The original one by Lina and the other one by Sonam Wangmo are true to the original tibetan style. Please check them out as well and you will see the difference. Again, Sheila still did a very good job handling such a difficult song!

+Nephi Acaling ...Shila Amzah has been trained in traditional singing technique since her childhood stage,as her father is a formerly contemporary pop & traditional singer once upon a time ago. And now she continues her father legacy as an Asian great singer,spread her talent in China market as she didn't well recognize in Malaysia. I love the way U react her singing. I have never followed any bloggers before nor do I have any appreciation for the younger artists. Watching Sheila Hamzah and Nephi's reaction, tears streaming in my eyes which happened to me during a rare moment of exaltation to the soul. Do you know why? Because people like Sheila Hamzah and Nephi are the Lights that help us to raise our vibrations. Shiela shared her emotional range of "being in love and broken hearted" with us through her songs, while Nephi infectious appreciation of art, reminds us of our gratitude to our Creator for giving us such wonderful artists.

Shila Amzah's performance is my favourite contemporary vocal style for this song. My favourite traditional vocal style performance is by Soinam Wangmo. My wife likes Tan Jing's version but it sounds a bit too communist opera for my tastes. Li Na has an older pop style version that's awesome too. Shila does amazing - I like how she modernised the vocal style, but keep some traditional inflection. I don't even mind the singer's hack during the final Yah-Lah-So where she flips her microphone to get the trills in. Maybe I just like how she pronounces the "sh" consonant a little too much. :)
Please do note that Shila's mother tongue is Malay . Perhaps Mandarin is her second language (English the third I guess). Her dad was a singer too albeit lesser known. Hence she was engulfed in culture since small..
Fun fact: her father was a popular malay traditional singer in Malaysia (search for ND Lala). Shila is good in voice control since she's been trained to sing traditional songs since she was still a kid.
If you have been to the mountains, and you see someone across a valley...they look very small...who are they? They will sing to you, a yodeling style that carries...and you will know who they are, and you will answer back. If you hear this kind of singing on the mountains there...you will never forget the way it passes through you, and you will be lucky enough to fall in love with this music
