This is the newest video on updating the firmware of the Shimano Di2 groupset.
The battery and the derailleurs are updated wirelessly using the Shimano e-tube app but the levers should be updated wired only, also using the Shimano e-tube app.

This is the best video on this subject. Thank you very much for the good job. For some reason, my FD connection cable has no plug cover, do you think I need one? (for better access maybe, I'm just guessing as to its usefulness)

It's not mandatory to have that cover but you should buy one to ensure the tight connection of the cable to the rear derailleur. You can find it for sure somewhere on the Web or at a physical bike store after ordering it. Thanks again for your kind words

Great video, Can you use the rear derailleur rather than the front? The rear derailleur seems easier access.

Thanks for the comment. And welcome to the channel. You can't use the rear derailleur instead of the front derailleur because the rear derailleur has the main wireless system to communicate with your mobile 📱. Don't forget to like subscribe and share the video with your friends safe rides mate.

Thanks for your comment and welcome to our company. All updates of the levers require and will require wired connection. Wireless updates are available only for the battery, rear and front derailleurs.

@@ioannidesalex Ok, then I feel better for ordering a Di2 cable just for upgrades... I hoped that only pre-4.2.0 versions needs a cable. But seem that in twisted Shimano's logic, a wire is needed for Wireless groupset 😀

Thanks for the video! For some reason I am unable to update my 105 shifter levers. After updating both the battery and the rear derailleur to the latest version, the E-Tube app does not detect any updates for the shifters (there is no update prompt), so they are stuck on the old firmware (4.1.2). Is there some way to force the update?

Try to start again from the beginning. First update that e tube app Be sure the battery is charged Then reconnect again your di2 And press the lever shifter buttons to check for the updates. If nothing works you need the pce-2 shimano tool.

Are you sure you do have a good Internet connection without any strange firewall? What is the E ride app ?

@@ioannidesalex yup I called into and talked to a guy at shimano. said he would make a ticket for it. ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM??!?!?!? it uploads to strava just fine but every single damn day since 6/11/24 it cannot upload to shimano... killing me since thats the only data system I can use!!!

Hi latest update has bricked my di2. Any idea how to sort it. Wont wake up, no light on rear derailleur. Tried connecting to lap top via cable and getting no joy.

This is very sad news but don't get crazy . In every problem there is a solution. At first try to charge your di2 battery to see if there are lights on.

Ok but still connect the cable to the rear derailleur to see if there is any left light on . If you don't see any lights on , you have to unplug and plug again all cables from battery and from rear and front derailleurs, don't tell me again that in the past the cables were connected.... I am trying to diagnose yours di2 problem from far away .🙂

@ioannidesalex hello Sage guru, I have encountered the same sad issue during a frozen etube app firmware update for the battery. I have disconnected battery and rear derailleur, reconnected and still no lights. Am I right in presuming next course of action is the pace tool as I cannot connect wirelessly any longer. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

@RichieB636 I am so sorry for this. After connecting all cables back again . Try to recharge again your battery as normal so see if there are any lights on at the rear derailleur. Did you check this ?
