Hello. The video is now 3 years old. Did both reels hold up ? The XT looks beautiful, I do like the fact the dc has tech that will help me but I was told by another person that the XT feels really nice in the palm. Do you prefer one over the other after some time now ? Thank you. Cory
I've been trying to find the right terminology for that! "Metal to plastic ratio" why don't more reviewers take about that! It makes a huge difference in feel.
Mike Schultz yea it’s noticeable for sure, can’t say it bothers me much. It would compare to some of the reels with ceramic bearings, it is certainly not quiet. I know you will love it, huge upgrade from a quantum pt for sure brother!
Everything Wild that slx dc is f#*+kin awesome unbelievable you literally cannot backlash this reel smooth reel too brother sound us never gonna get old lol
How's the set-up of the box for this? I hear it's different than most bsitcasters. Also I'm a braid to leader guy. Will there be any issues with having the different lines on my DC spool? For example my backing is mono, main line braid, and then flouro leader.
Ricardo Arroyo Hey! Not sure I understand the first question if your asking about set up out of the box then it’s no different in my eyes; just analyze the weight of the bait your throwing in combination with rod tip. I was able to work it into my lineup with no noticeable issues. As for the leader question there won’t be an issue! While that’s not something I do often it won’t creat any issues barring you tie a good, low profile knot! Hope that answers your questions if not feel free to ask a follow up!
Ricardo Arroyo killer!! I’m sure you’re gunna love it man! Fishing season is starting to wind down for the year but I can’t wait to sling some baits with it this spring! Thanks for the comment, hope you break it in soon!
@@everythingwild2409 wind down? Pfft, no such thing in Florida. Come visit I got you. I've only been fishing for 6 months so I'll trade you lodging for everything you know about fishing. Lol
Ricardo Arroyo jealous! Fishing here really tapers off this time of year, most state owned sites close for duck season. I appreciate it man! I love talking fishing ! Feel free to message me on here or instagram and I would love to help with any questions bro!
I know it’s been awhile but let’s say you had $250. Would you buy an slx for 100 and a $150 rod. Or xt for $140 and a $110 rod or dc for $180 and a $70 rod? Great Video!
Agreed with both! I love the fury it’s a rod for the money. I put a lot of value in a rod it’s everything when it comes to identifying light bites, I will always cut a little off the reel price before the rod
@@BigDsae you literally just named my exact setup on my slx xt. The fury line of rods are killer and thats what my slx xt is on. And my slx dc is on a shimano slx rod. Its amazing as well
Jason Acosta that’s a little tricky to answer because I can cast all of them further than what I can effectively set the hook on, I would say the dc would cast farther for people unfamiliar with how to use brakes but I could easily spool a Slx with the right set up!
2:30 magnetic control knob? say what? btw, when you make videos without a mic close to you, go in your editing software and increase the volume of your audio before rendering. this is about 3x lower in volume than other videos. just a tip.
What I was trying to say was checking the quality of all breaks, this reel is obviously centrifugal so it doesn’t have magnets but other reels use magnets so it would be a magnetic control knob or in most cases dials. The other knob would be the cast control but again it’s a case by base basis to that would would call it.The audio on my end is super loud even at 40% so I’m not sure the issue I will turn the audio controls up now that I know this. I was worried it would be too loud, thanks for the comment
Sorry friend but I’m not sure I understand the question to give you a proper answer. Shimanos website is incredible try there and if you still don’t get answers let’s chat and get this sorted out. Thanks for the comment
Theyre less versatile because the spools in dc reels are 30 odd % heavier than conventionally braked ones. This really affects how the reel casts lighter lures. As a result I was really dissapointed with mine. Found the xt to be much better.
@@ScroDiddly Its not just the lack of holes. They have to add a heavy rotor for the braking system to apply force to. They do this in conventional magnetic braked reels as well but for some reason the rotors in the dc ones are much heavier than in magnetic braked reels.
@@markrigg6623 maybe because the magnets just need more metal to work properly and slow at a certain rate when the breaks are applied with a dc specific breaking system. The heavy spool might need a little more power to break, but breaks at a consistent rate when it has more aluminum.. That's just me thinking about it...
