I should’ve done more research on baitcasters before I invested in more expensive baitcasters, kinda kicking myself for my reel selections,, I bought 2 Tatula 200’s as well as the 150 and they are good quality reels but they are tanks, I still don’t quite understand all the specs and important details for matching to a reel to a technique specific rod, I’ve been a diehard spinning guy my whole life and it’s way less complicated to learn what’s what,, having said all that I would love a recommendation on a good baitcaster in the 300$ range, Need a new one to pair with my chatter bait rod, I picked up the Evergreen Super Combat Stick and the Tatula 200 is good but I like everyone else wants better lol. I understand completely where you’re coming from! My buddy in Pittsburgh never used a baitcaster before and I showed him how now he doesn’t pick up a spinning reel very often. Man that SLX DC XT is going to be hard to beat even the 23 SLX DC is very good for the money. I use to use Daiwa exclusively until my middle man retired then it all went to 💩. But those reels are still good. I use on my chatterbaits that SLX DC and the piscifun aloy m(probably the best budget reel) and in the 6.2-6.8 gear ratio and I like the a MH rod with a mod/fast action and 7’2”-7’4” but some don’t like the longer rod but I like a shorter handle because I skip a chatterbait a lot!
One thing I get hung up on is not knowing the capabilities of the reel, such as bait size being too small or too big for reel, Will the Slc xt chuck my 1/4 oz chatters all the way up to my 3/4 big blade chatters? Both dock pitching as well as just launching them to the moon? One more question… if I do decide to purchase one, is the site that you linked reels in a safe purchasing website or would you recommend a different route
@@mattcampbell3876 well for the most part most bait casters can accommodate just about any and every type of lure except the specialty ones ;IE BFS and swimbaits but I’ve been messing around today with both these SLX reels and they can even handle some BFS lures down to like 3/16oz for swimbaits above 1oz(anything over that as well) I recommend going to 200 size and up. I know there is guys that punch with the 70 size reels but that’s not launching a 1-2.5oz bait all day that’s kinda the only area where it wouldn’t matter as much. As far as the site I bought mine from they’re great! I just ordered another today just don’t do what I did and order two at a time and close enough where he could combine the orders because he always gives freebies with every order and from now on I am going to order one at a time. Both of those sites I ordered from usually you have your order in 5 days or less depending on day you order. But reels I only get from Japan lure shop because he has amazing prices(cheaper than here for lesser quality products) and he has reels and other items we can’t get here
He did combine my last order that I ordered 3 days apart and I thought he was going to only give me one but he gave me two so I guess he knew he better get that right 😂
What is the fifference in 20 22 and 23. I eeen that on Amazon and there’s a big price difference then in the SLX dc that doesn’t have a 20 22 or 23. It’s like 200 then the numbered ones are like 150-180 I believe. Why please and thank you
Hi DBB, thanks for the video! I found your channel while looking for more information on the SLX DC XT. In your video at 6:43 it looks like the DC 23 might be a little taller than the DC XT, is that correct? Do you find the DC 23 to be bigger than the DC XT in other areas? I'm cursed with small hands, so I'm drawn the to DC XT, but with everyone using it for finesse purposes I'm concerned it won't hold up well to regular bass fishing - is this a valid concern? Thanks for any feedback you can provide!
The 23 is a tad bigger than the XT but I don’t think you’ll notice it. But if you can afford it the XT is a better option in general. Thanks for your comment!
