In this video I will review the new Shimano Teramar XX. The models I review are the TXESX76MH, TXNSX70MH and TXECX70H.
These rods feature both Hi Power-X and Spiral-X technologies. The first rod featured (TXESX76MH) is part of the southeast series which is the E designation in the model number. The S is for spinning models. The second rod (TXNSX70MH) is a northeast action rod designated by the N in the model. The X in both models refers to extra fast action. The last one (TXECX70H) is another southeast (E in the model), casting (C) and finally, extra fast (X)

I don't fish the ocean but I'm looking to get the TXESX76MH for fishing hybrid striped bass here in Ohio. We jig 1oz striper eye jigheads with flukes. Can't wait to get my hands on one!

Did you get it and how do you like it? I’m fishing mostly hybrids also in NC. I have St Croix Mojo surf and Seage, both 8’ and Medium fast. Thinking of getting 7’ medium… (not St Croix) but not sure if it can handle 1.5-2 oz lures

@Unplugged704 I absolutely love it! Definitely handles my hybrid striped bass fishing needs. I fish out of hard flowing river, and the hybrids I catch on average are 5 to 7lbs with a few double-digit ones. I use mainly 1oz jig heads with a fluke, and this rod is a beast! Can definitely handle more than 2oz, but I like that sweetspot of 1oz. Has all the power you need but not in a super heavy-duty package.

@Unplugged704 It all depends on how you're fishing and what you're using. I just have mine paired with a 5000 Stradic FL with 20lb braid. I honestly wouldn't throw anything more than 2oz. It's definitely something lighter than using a surf rod, which I also used to do for jigging hybrid, and I was using a 9'6 Shimano Tiralejo 💀

These are great rods. I have the casting version of the southeast and its extremely sensitive. Its seems like the same technology as the Shimano Expride for bass. Its much lighter than the old Teramar's which are still great rods

Yeah for sure! They are totally different then the old Teramars.

That 7’0” MH looks like a great rod for big stripers and gator blues. May have to pair one up with a 5000 reel and try it. Thanks for the review.

Yeah for sure going to be great for that. I fished the 7'6" today for jacks and snook and the rod was incredible how responsive and well it cast.

What are your thoughts on the txesx76m? Same thing as the txesx76mh but the medium version. I wish the txesx76mh was 2 inches longer but the txesx76m has a shorter handle so it may even it out. Good video

It depends on what your throwing if you casting 1 ounch lures and soft plastics the mh is perfect for it.

I don't understand why they made the TPES80XXH. A line rating of 20-40.

For casting live baits and big plugs off of ledges as well as metal jigs in the surf. Very specific application here, but a common format around Asia especially in Japan.

I just ordered 2 of the Teramar XX Southeast 7'-6" MH spinning rods but what reel would you recommend for a balanced combo?
@reelcastcharters1306
@reelcastcharters1306 Год назад
It pairs well with a 5000 spinning reel. The Shimano Stradic 5000 or Sustain are super light and will be great on this rod. The Saragossa 5K is a beast but its a bit heavier than the other two.
@anderson8869
@anderson8869 Год назад
@@reelcastcharters1306 thanks so much!! Probably going with the Stradic FL 5000 but would you use 20lb or 30lb braid if fishing from shore? This will not be a boat rod.
@reelcastcharters1306
@reelcastcharters1306 Год назад
@@anderson8869 The 20lb is going to cast very well. If your fishing sand beaches use 20lb if you are fishing around structure you may want to go heavier.

@@reelcastcharters1306 last question!! Any issues with the Shimano 5000 / 6000 reels bail wire wacking your knuckles on the rotation?? I put the Stradic FL5000 on the 7'-6" MH and it feels fantastic but every now & then that bail wire slaps my knuckles 😡. It could just be a matter of me having to learn a slightly different grip....
@reelcastcharters1306
@reelcastcharters1306 Год назад
@@anderson8869 I've never had an issue with it. I normally grip the rod with the foot of the reel stem between my middle and ring finger.

@reelcastcharters1306
@reelcastcharters1306 3 года назад
I assume we are talking about conventional set ups. I would go with the North East Teramar medium heavy. The tip is light and sensitive. I'll do another video on the conventionals.
@pjzola
@pjzola 3 года назад
Why is the lure rating lighter on the 7ft heavy casting rod vs the medium heavy? I was leaning toward the heavy until I saw your comment.
@reelcastcharters1306
@reelcastcharters1306 3 года назад
@@pjzola Checkout the TXNC70H. It's part of the NorthEast Series. It has much more power and can handle more weight.
