I want to add that when I see downvotes for this kind of video, I am reminded that there seem to be people that are never satisfied with any level of excellence. They baffle me. Be encouraged - your video is awesome.

Cannot thank you enough sir! Watched a lot of videos for both front and rear derailleur fitting. My chain was always scratching the front derailleur in the small/big cog and when I was pedaling hard chain was missing the teeth. Finally a professional who explains perfectly the whole procedure without shortcuts, your videos were the ones that troubleshoot my problems after weeks of struggling. Keep it up sir!

After having seen several other videos on the subject, yours was the first one that actually made complete sense to me. The only step that I did differently was that I installed the new chain first. The careful explanation was helpful, and the camera views were perfect. You obviously put a lot of effort into this video. Thank you.

I've just fitted a Tiagra 4700 to a Genesis bike build I've been working on. I must say that it works amazingly and is as smooth if not smoother than the Ultegra groupsets I have.

step by step easy to understand video. perhaps hundreds of other videos out there jumps into adjusting and trouble shooting straightaway without showing the basics. I personally learned today that proper alignment and the major adjustment comes first, and then post installation only minor tweaks are needed. truly deserves more likes.

Excellent your video, very didactic. I have a problem with my Tiagra. When I go up the gears for the STI it just screw up. I think there's a problem with winding the cable. Have you ever seen something like this?

I keep braking cables too often on my Tiagra 4700, which is brand new. Cables wear out at the exit of the barillet because of a sharp angle towards the fixing bolt, notably when in "rest" position (H) . I have apparently no frictions along the tubing, which is also brand new. It takes much more tension on the cable in order to correctly perform the switches than you apparently do in the video. Do you have any idea of why? Excellent video by the way!

Hey man. I wanted to know if the 4700rd is compatible with the olders 4600rd?. Asking because my 4600 rd has worn out and I only have the new 4700rd available as the older ones are obsolete now.

Hi there, thanks for the great video! I'm currently using your channel to install tiagra 4700 groupset on a bike. I had a question ; I followed your instructions, but after tightening and securing the shift cable the shifter does not shift the rear derailleur. I've made sure the shift lever was set beforehand to the smallest cog, and it is a new groupset using external cable routing. I also watched your video on putting the cables the shifters and the cable seems to sit okay. Additionally the shift levers are catching appropriately on the internal mech and there is clicking in the shifter. I haven't lubricated the inside of the shift lever, or the ear derailleur but these are brand new Did you have any issues with the shifter not being able to actuate the rear derailleur with no chain? I thought it might be due to lacking cable tension, but if I tighten too much I notice the top flywheel of the derailleur losing alignment with the outer edge of the smallest cog on the cassette and I'm not sure if that is okay. Let me know if you have any ideas Thanks!

No worries I fixed it ; I forgot to shift up the right shifter to max before putting in the shift cable

Is it normal that cable lasts only about 1500-2000 km with this derailleur? I live in very hilly area with constant gear changes, but already changed 5 or 6 rear cables.

When sizing the cable housing for the rear derailleur, should I rotate the derailleur fully anti-clockwise and and make the tubing fit that angle?
@FreeToCycle
@FreeToCycle 3 года назад
Tim, hold the derailleur against the hanger so as it’s not just hanging in mid air. Then size up the cable from there!

Would tiagra 4600 shifters work with tiagra 4700 rear derailleur?

No. 4700 uses the 11 speed pull ratio for road components. It is only compatible with 11 speed road or 10/11 speed grx.

I´m sorry to interupt, this didnt help me really. I have watched it about 10 times. My dearelliur doesnt shift the 2 first then not the last one. I set up limit screws first, so its perfectly in place, without cable. When i put on cable it wont shift all 10. Man this shit gives me a headache..
